via
an electro-oxidation route. Conventional Ni(OH)
2
usually has negligible OER activity, while NR-Ni(OH)
2
shows high activity for the oxygen evolution reaction and an overpotential of 162 millivolts and furthermore exhibits long-term stability in alkaline electrolyte. The substantial reduction in the overpotential of NR-Ni(OH)
2
is due to its easier OOH* adsorption by the active four-coordinated Ni edge sites. The enhanced catalytic activity of NR-Ni(OH)
2
makes it an excellent candidate for industrial applications.

The problem of tracking control for a class of uncertain time-delay non-linear system with state constraint is addressed. To prevent constraint violation, the tangent barrier Lyapunov function (TBLF) ...is firstly used for time-delay nonlinear system. By ensuring boundedness of the TBLF in the closed loop, besides those limits are not transgressed, the authors also tackle scenarios wherein parametric uncertainties and time delays are presented. Asymptotically tracking stable in the sense of uniformly ultimate boundedness is achieved without violation of the constraint. The formation mechanism of uniform CeO2 structure at the nanometer scale via a wet-chemical reaction is of great interest in fundamental study as well as a variety of applications. In this work, ...large-scale well-crystallized CeO2 nanorods with uniform diameters in the range of 20−30 nm and lengths up to tens of micrometers are first synthesized through a hydrothermal synthetic route in 5 M KOH solution at 180 °C for 45 h without any templates and surfactants. The nanorod formation involves dehydration of CeO2 nanoparticles and orientation growth along the 〈110〉 direction in KOH solution. Subsequently, gold nanoparticles with crystallite sizes between 10 and 20 nm are loaded on the surface of CeO2 nanorods using HAuCl4 solution as the gold source and NaBH4 solution as a reducing agent. The synthesized Au/CeO2 nanorods demonstrate a higher catalytic activity in CO oxidation than the pure CeO2 nanorods.

A simple and efficient approach is developed for the synthesis of copper oxide nanorods with different morphology and crystallographic structure. Polycrystalline fine rods 10−20 nm thick and several ...hundred nanometers long and single crystalline thick rods 60−100 nm thick and up to 1 μm long were obtained from the reactions of copper hydrate with caustic soda solution at room temperature and 100 °C, respectively. The fine CuO nanorods as anode materials for Li ion battery exhibit a high electrochemical capacity of 766 mA h/g and relatively poor capacity retention as compared to thick nanorods with the single crystalline structure. The correlation between the structural features of the nanorods and their electrode performance is discussed in detail.

Abstract Background The purpose of this study was to compare patient outcomes between immediate breast reconstruction (IBR) after mastectomy and mastectomy alone. Methods We conducted a comprehensive ...literature search of PUBMED, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library. The primary outcomes evaluated in this review were overall survival, disease-free survival and local recurrence. Secondary outcome was the incidence of surgical site infection. All data were analyzed using Review Manager 5.3. Results Thirty-one studies, involving of 139,894 participants were included in this paper. Pooled data demonstrated that women who had IBR after mastectomy were more likely to experience surgical site infection than those treated with mastectomy alone (risk ratios 1.51, 95% CI: 1.22–1.87; p = 0.0001). There were no significant differences in overall survival (hazard ratios 0.92, 95% CI: 0.80–1.06; p = 0.25) and disease-free survival (hazard ratios 0.96, 95% CI: 0.84–1.10; p = 0.54) between IBR after mastectomy and mastectomy alone. No significant difference was found in local recurrence between two groups (risk ratios 0.92, 95% CI: 0.75–1.13; p = 0.41). Conclusions Our study demonstrates that IBR after mastectomy does not affect the overall survival and disease-free survival of breast cancer. Besides, no evidence shows that IBR after mastectomy increases the frequency of local recurrence.

To build a nomogram model to improve the evaluation of revascularisation necessity using multi-parameter coronary computed tomography (CT) angiography (CCTA).
In this retrospective study, 335 ...patients who underwent CCTA and required revascularisation within 1 month were selected and allocated to the revascularisation group; 208 patients who did not undergo revascularisation were allocated to the non-revascularisation group. CCTA parameters, including CCTA stenosis, plaque qualitative–quantitative characteristics, and fractional flow reserve derived from CT angiography (CT-FFR), for both groups were analysed and compared. Independent risk factors for evaluating revascularisation were obtained using univariate and multivariable regression analysis, after which multi-parameter models were built. Finally, a nomogram was created with these independent risk factors using the R programming language.
Plaque analysis was performed successfully for 543 patients with 1,072 target plaques. The performance of the multi-parameter model (AUC 0.894, p<0.001) was significantly higher than that of models based on stenosis (AUC 0.804, p<0.001), plaque qualitative/quantitative characteristics (AUC 0.754/0.789, p<0.001), or CT-FFR (AUC 0.848, p<0.001) alone, to evaluate the necessity of revascularisation. The independent risk factors were CCTA stenosis (OR 1.004, p=0.04), positive remodelling (OR 2.474, p<0.001), total plaque volume (OR 1.001, p<0.001), non-calcified plaque volume proportion (OR 1.019, p<0.001), and CT-FFR (OR 0.001, p<0.001). Subsequently, a nomogram based on these factors was created.
The multi-parameter CCTA model improved performance in evaluating revascularisation necessity. The nomogram based on these factors is shows promise in clinical settings.

Bulliform cells are large, thin-walled and highly vacuolated cells, and play an important role in controlling leaf rolling in response to drought and high temperature. However, the molecular ...mechanisms regulating bulliform cell development have not been well documented. Here, we report isolation and characterisation of a rice leaf-rolling mutant, named shallot-like 2 (sll2). The sll2 plants exhibit adaxially rolled leaves, starting from the sixth leaf stage, accompanied by increased photosynthesis and reduced plant height and tiller number. Histological analyses showed shrinkage of bulliform cells, resulting in inward-curved leaves. The mutant is recessive and revertible at a rate of 9%. The leaf rolling is caused by a T-DNA insertion. Cloning of the insertion using TAIL-PCR revealed that the T-DNA was inserted in the promoter region of LOC_Os07 g38664. Unexpectedly, the enhanced expression of LOC_Os07 g38664 by the 35S enhancer in the T-DNA is not responsible for the leaf rolling phenotype. Further, the enhancer also exerted a long-distance effect, including up-regulation of several bulliform cell-related genes. sll2 suppressed the outward leaf rolling of oul1 in the sll2oul1 double mutant. We conclude that leaf rolling in sll2 could be a result of the combined effect of multi-genes, implying a complex network in regulation of bulliform cell development.

We present the results from the 43 GHz Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) observations of 124 compact radio-loud active galactic nuclei (AGNs) that were conducted between 2014 November and 2016 May. The ...typical dimensions of the restoring beam in each image are about 0.5 mas × 0.2 mas. The highest resolution of 0.2 mas corresponds to a physical size of 0.02 pc for the lowest redshift source in the sample. The 43 GHz very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) images of 97 AGNs are presented for the first time. We study the source compactness on milliarcsecond and submilliarcsecond scales, and suggest that 95 sources in our sample are suitable for future space VLBI observations. By analyzing our data supplemented with other VLBA AGN surveys from the literature, we find that the core brightness temperature increases with increasing frequency below a break frequency ∼7 GHz, and decreases between ∼7 and 240 GHz but increases again above 240 GHz in the rest frame of the sources. This indicates that the synchrotron opacity changes from optically thick to thin. We also find a strong statistical correlation between radio and γ-ray flux densities. Our correlation is tighter than those in the literature derived from lower-frequency VLBI data, suggesting that the γ-ray emission is produced more cospatially with the 43 GHz VLBA core emission. This correlation can also be extrapolated to the unbeamed AGN population, implying that a universal γ-ray production mechanism might be at work for all types of AGNs.
Melatonin and its receptors have been detected in the ovary of many species, and mediate ovarian functions. The present study was designed to investigate the expression and subcellar location of ...melatonin receptors in bovine granulosa cells (GCs), using reverse transcription (RT) polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, and immunofluorescence analyses. Furthermore, expression level of melatonin receptors mRNA (real-time polymerase chain reaction) after treatment with various concentrations of melatonin, as well as its effects on cell apoptosis, proliferation, and steroidogenesis (by flow cytometry and RIA), were determined. In bovine GCs, melatonin receptors MT1 and MT2 were differentially located at the cell membrane, the cytoplasm, and nuclear membranes. The expression of MT1 and MT2 mRNA was regulated differently by melatonin in time- and dose-dependent manners. Exogenous melatonin suppressed cell apoptosis (P < 0.05) but not proliferation (P > 0.05). After 72 h, the apoptotic rate was significantly inhibited in all treatment groups. Meanwhile, melatonin supplementation stimulated progesterone production, but inhibited estradiol biosynthesis, in a time-dependent manner. Progesterone production was highest (P < 0.05) at 72 h. Estradiol concentrations were almost unaffected (P > 0.05) at 24 h, but were decreased (P < 0.05) at 48 h. In conclusion, exogenous melatonin acts via receptors and has important roles in regulation of development and function of bovine GCs.

Our research shows that a significant positive correlation exists between ...the levels of gonadotropic hormones and various bone turnover indicators. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) has been found to have a greater influence on all types of bone turnover indicator than luteinizing hormone (LH). Further, FSH has a greater influence on bone formation indicators than on bone resorption indicators.
Introduction
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum FSH and LH and biochemical markers of bone turnover in native Chinese adult women.
Methods
We conducted a cross-sectional study of 694 healthy Chinese women aged between 20 and 82 years. Serum FSH, LH, bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (BAP), osteocalcin (OC), N-terminal telopeptides of type I collagen, C-terminal telopeptides of type I collagen, urinary NTX, urinary CTX, and urinary deoxypyridinoline (uDPD) were determined.
Results
All types of bone turnover indicator were significantly positively correlated with FSH (
r
= 0.164–0.626, all
P
= 0.000) and LH (
r
= 0.130–0.618, all
P
= 0.013–0.000). The correlation coefficient between serum FSH and BAP was the highest (
r
= 0.626), and that between serum FSH and uDPD was the lowest (
r
= 0.164). The serum gonadotropic hormone levels were higher; concentrations of bone turnover indicators were higher. The extent of the influence of FSH on various bone turnover indicators was approximately seven to 20 times greater than that of LH on these indicators. FSH could explain 43% and 22% of the changes in BAP and OC, respectively; whereas, LH could explain only 2.1% and 1.1%, respectively. FSH could explain approximately 1.9–11.8% of the changes in bone resorption indicators; however, LH had almost no effect on them.
Conclusions
Gonadotropic hormone levels are correlated with the rate of bone turnover in Chinese women: the higher the serum gonadotropic hormone levels in circulation, the higher the levels of bone turnover indicators. FSH has a greater influence on all types of bone turnover indicator than LH; moreover, it has a greater influence on bone formation indicators than on bone resorption indicators.
