For the adversarial attacks on the communication links from the controller to the actuators, most of the existing attack‐resilient control results focus on denial‐of‐service attacks. Unlike ...the existing results, this paper studies the observer‐based attack‐resilient control problem for linear systems with false data injection attacks and process disturbances. Due to limited resources, the malicious attacker is assumed to only manipulate a certain number of communication links from the controller to the actuators. A novel control architecture is proposed, which consists of an attack‐resilient state observer, a controller gain scheme, and a supervisory switching strategy. The observer is developed based on the maximin strategy, and state estimation will be used to construct the controller. The switching strategy is designed to pick an appropriate controller gain and prevent the attack signals from entering the plant automatically. It is shown that the closed‐loop system is stable with an attack‐resilient performance. Finally, to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller, simulation results on a linearized reduced‐order aircraft system and an IEEE six‐bus power system are provided.

However, it has been reported that the TEER procedure could be safely and effectively performed in carefully selected rheumatic MR patients. Therefore, we share a case report of successfully treating severe rheumatic MR using a novel‐designed TEER system (JensClipTM).

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is common and disabling, but its neuropathophysiology remains unclear. Most studies of functional brain networks in MDD have had limited statistical power and data ...analysis approaches have varied widely. The REST-meta-MDD Project of resting-state fMRI (R-fMRI) addresses these issues. Twenty-five research groups in China established the REST-meta-MDD Consortium by contributing R-fMRI data from 1,300 patients with MDD and 1,128 normal controls (NCs). Data were preprocessed locally with a standardized protocol before aggregated group analyses. We focused on functional connectivity (FC) within the default mode network (DMN), frequently reported to be increased in MDD. Instead, we found decreased DMN FC when we compared 848 patients with MDD to 794 NCs from 17 sites after data exclusion. We found FC reduction only in recurrent MDD, not in first-episode drug-naïve MDD. Decreased DMN FC was associated with medication usage but not with MDD duration. DMN FC was also positively related to symptom severity but only in recurrent MDD. Exploratory analyses also revealed alterations in FC of visual, sensory-motor, and dorsal attention networks in MDD. We confirmed the key role of DMN in MDD but found reduced rather than increased FC within the DMN. Future studies should test whether decreased DMN FC mediates response to treatment. All R-fMRI indices of data contributed by the REST-meta-MDD consortium are being shared publicly via the R-fMRI Maps Project.

This paper investigates the decentralized adaptive fault-tolerant control problem for a class of uncertain large-scale interconnected systems with disturbances and actuator faults including stuck, ...outage and loss of effectiveness. It is assumed that the upper bounds of the disturbances and stuck faults are unknown. The considered disturbances and unknown interconnections contain matched and mismatched parts. A decentralized adaptive control scheme with backstepping method is developed. Then, according to the information from the adaptive mechanism, the effects of both the actuator faults and the matched parts of disturbances and interconnections can be eliminated completely. Furthermore, cyclic-small-gain technique is introduced to address the mismatched interconnections such that the resulting closed-loop system is asymptotically stable with disturbance attenuation level γ. Compared with the existing results, disturbance rejection property can be guaranteed for each subsystem. Finally, a simulation example of a large-scale power system is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In most of the existing observer design approaches for the systems with unknown inputs even in the absence of attacks, the observer matching condition should be satisfied. To overcome this restriction, a novel switched observer is proposed, where the matched unknown inputs will be completely compensated by means of the outputs and the mismatched part will be suppressed in terms of L2‐gain rejection property. Meanwhile, the observer can provide an attack‐resilient state estimation. Compared with the existing results, the proposed observer can guarantee that the resulting observer error system is stable with unknown input attenuation level γ that can be optimized. Finally, a simulation example of an unmanned ground vehicle is provided to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Aberrant topological organization of whole-brain networks has been inconsistently reported in studies of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD), reflecting limited sample sizes. To address ...this issue, we utilized a big data sample of MDD patients from the REST-meta-MDD Project, including 821 MDD patients and 765 normal controls (NCs) from 16 sites. Using the Dosenbach 160 node atlas, we examined whole-brain functional networks and extracted topological features (e.g., global and local efficiency, nodal efficiency, and degree) using graph theory-based methods. Linear mixed-effect models were used for group comparisons to control for site variability; robustness of results was confirmed (e.g., multiple topological parameters, different node definitions, and several head motion control strategies were applied). We found decreased global and local efficiency in patients with MDD compared to NCs. At the nodal level, patients with MDD were characterized by decreased nodal degrees in the somatomotor network (SMN), dorsal attention network (DAN) and visual network (VN) and decreased nodal efficiency in the default mode network (DMN), SMN, DAN, and VN. These topological differences were mostly driven by recurrent MDD patients, rather than first-episode drug naive (FEDN) patients with MDD. In this highly powered multisite study, we observed disrupted topological architecture of functional brain networks in MDD, suggesting both locally and globally decreased efficiency in brain networks.

There are wide genomic and phenotypic differences between Asian and European pig breeds, yet the current reference genome is the European Duroc pig genome. A high‐quality pig genome is lacking for ...genetic analysis of agricultural traits in Asian pigs. Here, using a hybrid approach, a high‐quality reference genome (MSCAAS v1) for the Asian Meishan breed is assembled with a contig N50 size of 48.05 Mb. MSCAAS v1 outperforms the Duroc genome as a reference genome for Asian breeds. Genomic comparison reveals 49,103 structural variations (SVs) between Meishan and Duroc, 4.02% of which are Asian‐specific SVs (AP‐SVs). Notably, a 30‐Mb hotspot for AP‐SVs on chromosome X enriched for genes associated with Asian‐pig‐specific phenotypes is present in Asian domestic pig breeds, but absent in Asian wild boars, suggesting that Asian domestic breeds share a common ancestor. Interbreed transcriptomics reveals transcriptional suppression roles of AP‐SVs in multiple tissues. Finally, transcriptional regulation in the intron of IGF2R is reported, as genomic SV (274‐bp deletion) in Tibetan pig limits its growth compared to domestic pig breeds. In summary, this study provides insights regarding the genetic changes underlying pig domestication and presents a benchmark‐setting resource for the utilization of agricultural valuable loci in Asian pigs.

Upregulated expression of immune checkpoint molecules correlates with exhausted phenotype and impaired function of cytotoxic T cells to evade host immunity. By disrupting the interaction of PD-L1 and ...PD1, immune checkpoint inhibitors can restore immune system function against cancer cells. Growing evidence have demonstrated apigenin and luteolin, which are flavonoids abundant in common fruits and vegetables, can suppress growth and induce apoptosis of multiple types of cancer cells with their potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anticancer properties. In this study, the effects and underlying mechanisms of luteolin, apigenin, and anti-PD-1 antibody combined with luteolin or apigenin on the PD-L1 expression and anti-tumorigenesis in KRAS-mutant lung cancer were investigated. Luteolin and apigenin significantly inhibited lung cancer cell growth, induced cell apoptosis, and down-regulated the IFN-γ-induced PD-L1 expression by suppressing the phosphorylation of STAT3. Both luteolin and apigenin showed potent anti-cancer activities in the H358 xenograft and Lewis lung carcinoma model in vivo, and the treatment with monoclonal PD1 antibody enhanced the infiltration of T cells into tumor tissues. Apigenin exhibited anti-tumor activity in Genetically engineered KRASLA2 mice. In conclusion, both apigenin and luteolin significantly suppressed lung cancer with KRAS mutant proliferation, and down-regulated the IFN-γ induced PD-L1 expression. Treatment with the combination of PD-1 blockade and apigenin/luteolin has a synergistic effect and might be a prospective therapeutic strategy for NSCLC with KRAS-mutant.
•Luteolin and apigenin can downregulate the PD-L1 expression in NSCLC with KRAS mutation.•The combination of apigenin or luteolin with PD-1 mAb enhanced tumor growth control and improved survival.•Apigenin but not luteolin exhibited anti-tumor activity in KRASLA2 mice.
