By phase analysis of the clog of nozzle and type analysis of inclusion in 38CrMoAl steel, the effects of calcium treatment on nozzle scabbiness were analyzed and the mechanisms of clogging were ...discussed. The results indicated that the clogs of nozzle consist of Al2O3, MgO• Al2O3, CaS and calcium aluminate mixture, Because the inclusion in molten steel with high melting point aggregating in nozzle inner wall. Clogging has been caused by high sulfur content of steel liquid, irrelevant refining slag system and excessive calcium treatment. The nozzle clogging was analyzed and some measures were put forward.

The solar oscillations along one coronal loop in AR 11504 are observed simultaneously in white light emission and Doppler velocity by SDO/HMI, and in UV and EUV emissions by SDO/AIA. The technique of ...the time-distance diagram is used to detect the propagating oscillations of the emission intensities along the loop. We find that although all the oscillation signals were intercorrelated, the low chromospheric oscillation correlated more closely to the oscillations of the transition region and corona than to those of the photosphere. Situated above the sunspot, the oscillation periods were ~3 minutes in the UV/EUV emissions; however, moving away from the sunspot and into the quiet Sun, the periods became longer, e.g., up to ~5 minutes or more. In addition, along another loop we observe both the high-speed outflows and oscillations, which roughly had a one-to-one corresponding relationship. This indicates that the solar periodic oscillations may modulate the magnetic reconnections between the loops of the high and low altitudes that drive the high-speed outflows along the loop.

heterojunction films (Ag-MTHF) with enhanced photocatalytic activity were synthesized by a three-step approach including an electrochemical anodization technique followed by ...successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) and solvothermal methods. The distribution of Ag nanoparticles on the inner structure of the mesoporous TiO

film was confirmed by field emission scanning electron (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscopes (TEM). The formation progress of the novel mesoporous Ag/TiO

nanoparticles largely enhanced the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orangey (MO), and the corresponding mechanism was proposed.
To date, only aroA variants derived from Agrobacterium tumefaciens CP4 have been used to generate the commercial glyphosate-resistant crops currently available in the market. Therefore, it is of ...interest to increase aroA gene diversity and seek new glyphosate-tolerant genes for developing glyphosate-tolerant crops. In this study, a novel aroA gene encoding 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase from Paracoccus denitrificans was isolated using the genomic library construction and complementary screening. Furthermore, the transgenic Arabidopsis plants with the aroA gene from P. denitrificans were obtained to confirm the potential of the novel aroA gene in developing glyphosate-resistant crops.

We present a measurement of the cosmic ray (e^{+}+e^{-}) flux in the range 0.5 GeV to 1 TeV based on the analysis of 10.6 million (e^{+}+e^{-}) events collected by AMS. The statistics and the ...resolution of AMS provide a precision measurement of the flux. The flux is smooth and reveals new and distinct information. Above 30.2 GeV, the flux can be described by a single power law with a spectral index γ=-3.170±0.008(stat+syst)±0.008(energy scale).

Two enhanced-recycling H-mode regimes, named low-enhanced-recycling (LER) and high-enhanced-recycling (HER) H-mode regimes, with edge coherent modes, have been achieved by lower hybrid current drive ...and ion cyclotron resonance heating with lithium-wall conditioning in the EAST superconducting tokamak. In the LER H-mode regime, the density and radiation increase during the ELM-free phase until the onset of edge-localized modes (ELMs), while in the HER H-mode regime, the density and radiation are well controlled without the presence of ELMs. Both LER and HER H-modes exhibit a low-frequency (frequency <100 kHz) edge quasi-coherent mode (ECM) with an initial frequency chirping down phase, following the L-H transition. In addition, an electromagnetic high-frequency coherent mode (HFM) with frequency >170 kHz appears shortly (<1 ms) after the transition during HER H-modes. Both ECM and HFM propagate in the electron diamagnetic drift direction in the lab frame with a low poloidal wavelength and may be responsible for enhanced recycling during the ELM-free phase. These two enhanced-recycling H-mode regimes may have significant implications for long-pulse high-performance operations in future fusion experiments.
The first (v_{1}^{fluc}), second (v_{2}), and third (v_{3}) harmonic coefficients of the azimuthal particle distribution at midrapidity are extracted for charged hadrons and studied as a function of ...transverse momentum (p_{T}) and mean charged particle multiplicity density ⟨N_{ch}⟩ in U+U (sqrts_{NN}=193 GeV), Au+Au, Cu+Au, Cu+Cu, d+Au, and p+Au collisions at sqrts_{NN}=200 GeV with the STAR detector. For the same ⟨N_{ch}⟩, the v_{1}^{fluc} and v_{3} coefficients are observed to be independent of the collision system, while v_{2} exhibits such a scaling only when normalized by the initial-state eccentricity (ϵ_{2}). The data also show that ln(v_{2}/ϵ_{2}) scales linearly with ⟨N_{ch}⟩^{-1/3}. These measurements provide insight into initial-geometry fluctuations and the role of viscous hydrodynamic attenuation on v_{n} from small to large collision systems.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors in combination with tyrosine kinase inhibitors are standard treatments for advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (RCC). This phase III RENOTORCH study compared the ...efficacy and safety of toripalimab plus axitinib versus sunitinib for the first-line treatment of patients with intermediate-/poor-risk advanced RCC.
Patients with intermediate-/poor-risk unresectable or metastatic RCC were randomized in a ratio of 1 : 1 to receive toripalimab (240 mg intravenously once every 3 weeks) plus axitinib (5 mg orally twice daily) or sunitinib 50 mg orally once daily for 4 weeks (6-week cycle) or 2 weeks (3-week cycle). The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS) assessed by an independent review committee (IRC). The secondary endpoints were investigator-assessed PFS, overall response rate (ORR), overall survival (OS), and safety.
A total of 421 patients were randomized to receive toripalimab plus axitinib (n = 210) or sunitinib (n = 211). With a median follow-up of 14.6 months, toripalimab plus axitinib significantly reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 35% compared with sunitinib as assessed by an IRC hazard ratio (HR) 0.65, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.49-0.86; P = 0.0028. The median PFS was 18.0 months in the toripalimab–axitinib group, whereas it was 9.8 months in the sunitinib group. The IRC-assessed ORR was significantly higher in the toripalimab–axitinib group compared with the sunitinib group (56.7% versus 30.8%; P < 0.0001). An OS trend favoring toripalimab plus axitinib was also observed (HR 0.61, 95% CI 0.40-0.92). Treatment-related grade ≥3 adverse events occurred in 61.5% of patients in the toripalimab–axitinib group and 58.6% of patients in the sunitinib group.
In patients with previously untreated intermediate-/poor-risk advanced RCC, toripalimab plus axitinib provided significantly longer PFS and higher ORR than sunitinib and had a manageable safety profile
ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04394975
•Toripalimab plus axitinib provided significantly better PFS than sunitinib as a first-line treatment for advanced RCC.•A significantly higher ORR was found in patients who received toripalimab plus axitinib than those who received sunitinib.•The combination of toripalimab plus axitinib was generally well tolerated.•No new safety signals were identified in the combination outside the known safety profile of toripalimab or axitinib.
Three hundred cDNAs containing putatively entire open reading frames (ORFs) for previously undefined genes were obtained from CD34+ hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells (HSPCs), based on EST ...cataloging, clone sequencing, in silico cloning, and rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). The cDNA sizes ranged from 360 to 3496 bp and their ORFs coded for peptides of 58-752 amino acids. Public database search indicated that 225 cDNAs exhibited sequence similarities to genes identified across a variety of species. Homology analysis led to the recognition of 50 basic structural motifs/domains among these cDNAs. Genomic exon-intron organization could be established in 243 genes by integration of cDNA data with genome sequence information. Interestingly, a new gene named as HSPC070 on 3p was found to share a sequence of 105bp in 3' UTR with RAF gene in reversed transcription orientation. Chromosomal localizations were obtained using electronic mapping for 192 genes and with radiation hybrid (RH) for 38 genes. Macroarray technique was applied to screen the gene expression patterns in five hematopoietic cell lines (NB4, HL60, U937, K562, and Jurkat) and a number of genes with differential expression were found. The resource work has provided a wide range of information useful not only for expression genomics and annotation of genomic DNA sequence, but also for further research on the function of genes involved in hematopoietic development and differentiation.
During the oil and gas exploitation, the corrosion of carbon steel pipes causes great economic loss, heavy casualties, environmental pollution, and waste of resources. The development of highly ...efficient and stable corrosion inhibitors is of great significance for the corrosion protection of carbon steel in oil and gas exploitation. L-cysteine is widespread in various plants (e.g. onion, cauliflower, and cabbage sprout). As a corrosion inhibitor, it usually has low inhibitive efficiency in most corrosive environment. Chemical modification is the most efficient method to solve this issue. Herein, two synthetic amino acid derivatives (2-phenylthiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (PTCA) and 2-(thiophen-2-yl)thiazolidine-4-carboxylic acid (TTCA)) were investigated as high-efficient corrosion inhibitors to deal with the corrosion issue of carbon steel in the CO2-containing environment. The anti-corrosion property of the amino acid derivatives was investigated by electrochemical experiment, surface technique and theoretical calculations. The electrochemical results show that PTCA and TTCA present high corrosion inhibition efficiencies at the concentration of 0.8 mM: PTCA (99.1%) and TTCA (99.3%). The inhibitive mechanism of PTCA and TTCA on carbon steel surface is revealed by theoretical calculations. It is found that the PTCA and TTCA adsorb at the steel/solution interface by forming Fe-O bonds. Compared to PTCA, TTCA exhibits stronger adsorption on carbon steel surface by forming shorter Fe-O bonds with a more negative adsorption energy, which accounts for the better inhibitive performance of TTCA.
