N-doped microporous carbon as an exceptional metal-free catalyst from waste biomass (banana peel as representative) was obtained via fast catalysis carbonization, followed by N-doping modification. ...The method achieves a relatively high C conversion efficiency of ∼41.9%. The final carbon materials are doped by N (∼3 at.%) and possess high surface area (∼1097 m2 g−1) and abundant micropores. Compared to commercial Pt/C materials, the as-prepared carbon catalyst exhibits a comparable electrocatalytic activity and much better stability. Furthermore, the metal-free catalyst loaded Zn-air battery possesses higher discharge voltage and power density as compared with that of commercial Pt/C. This novel technique can also be readily applied to produce metal-free carbon catalysts from other typical waste biomass (e.g., orange peel, leaves) as the carbon sources. The method can be developed as a potentially general and effective industrial route to transform waste biomass into high value-added microporous carbon with superior functionalities.
•Nanoporous carbon was synthesized from waste biomass using a universal method.•The sample possesses excellent ORR activity and high stability in alkaline media.•The sample further exhibits good discharge performance for zinc/air batteries.

•As and Cd concentrations in wheat grain differed significantly among 12 cultivars.•As and Cd in wheat grains were correlated with P in straw and grain.•A significant positive ...correlation was observed between root As and Cd.•Rachis may play a key role in the difference between As and Cd transport to grains.
Pot experiments were conducted to investigate the difference in arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), and phosphorus (P) uptake, accumulation, and translocation among 12 wheat cultivars and their relationships with each other in soil “naturally” contaminated with both As and Cd. As, Cd, and P concentrations in wheat grain, straw, and root differed significantly (p<0.05) among the 12 wheat cultivars. The grain As concentration was not correlated with straw and root As, or the total As content in plants, but was significantly (p<0.05) correlated with As translocation factors (TFs), i.e., TFs(Grain/Root) and TFs(Grain/Straw). The grain Cd concentration was positively correlated with the total Cd content and TFs(Grain/Straw). The grain P concentration was positively correlated with straw and root P. Both As and Cd concentrations in wheat grains were correlated with P in wheat straw and grain. Compared with As, Cd was more easily transported to the wheat grain, and the rachis played a key role in ensuring this difference. A significant positive correlation was observed between root As and Cd, but no significant relationship was detected between grain As and Cd concentrations. The lack of a relationship between grain As and Cd suggests the possibility of selecting cultivars in which little As and Cd accumulation occurs in the wheat grain.

Currently, atherosclerosis accounts for the majority of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide, and predicting the stability of atherosclerotic plaque is the main method to prevent ...atherosclerotic death. This study aims to establish a dual-label time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay (TRFIA) of matrix metalloprotein-9 (MMP-9) and lipoprotein-associated phospholipaseA2 (Lp-PLA2) to predict atherosclerotic plaque stability. A dual-label TRFIA was introduced for the simultaneous quantification of MMP-9 and Lp-PLA2 using fluorescent lanthanide (Eu
3+
and Sm
3+
) chelates. The performance (sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, precision and reference intervals in different subjects) of this TRFIA was evaluated and compared with commercial kit. The sensitivity of the TRFIA for MMP-9 was 0.85 ng/mL and for Lp-PLA2 was 0.68 ng/mL with high affinity and specificity. The average recoveries were 94.58% to 109.82%, and 104.32% to 109.26%, respectively. All intra- and inter-assay
CVs
ranged from 3.10% to 5.46%. For the normal subjects, the cutoff value was 160.70 ng/mL for MMP-9 and 183.73 ng/mL for LP-PLA2; for the subjects with stable plaque, the cutoff value was 181.98~309.22 ng/mL for MMP-9 and 194.73~337.89 ng/mL for LP-PLA2; for the subjects with unstable plaque, the cutoff value was 330.43 ng/mL for MMP-9 and 343.23 ng/mL for LP-PLA2. This TRFIA detection results agreed well with the results of commercial kit (
R

=0.9567 and
R

=0.9771, respectively) in clinical serum samples. The TRFIA developed has a wide detection range and good sensitivity for the high-throughput simultaneous detection of MMP-9 and Lp-PLA2 in serum, which provides a new method for predicting the stability of atherosclerotic plaque.

In connection with the design of floating wind turbines, stochastic dynamic analysis is a critical task considering nonlinear wind and wave forces. To study the random structural responses of a newly ...designed submerged tension leg platform (STLP) wind turbine, a set of dynamic simulations and comparison analysis with the MIT/NREL TLP wind turbine are carried out. The signal filter method is used to evaluate the mean and standard deviations of the structural response. Furthermore, the extreme responses are estimated by using the mean upcrossing rate method. The fatigue damages for blade root, tower, and mooring line are also studied according to the simulated time-series. The results and comparison analysis show that the STLP gives small surge and pitch motions and mooring line tensions in operational sea states due to the small water-plane area. Additionally, in severe sea states, the STLP gives lower extreme values of platform pitch, slightly larger surge and heave motions and better towerbase and mooring line fatigue performances than those of the MIT/NREL TLP. It is found that the STLP wind turbine has good performances in structural responses and could be a potential type for exploiting the wind resources located in deep waters.

The North Qilian orogenic belt in North China has been defined as a subduction–collision zone between the Alxa Block and the Qilian Block. We present petrography, zircon U–Pb geochronology, major- ...and trace-element geochemistry, and Sr–Nd–Pb–Hf isotope analysis for the Yushigou diabase from the Longshoushan area, which is located SW of the Alxa Block, aiming to understand its petrogenetic link to subduction processes. The Yushigou diabase belongs to the tholeiite series, and shows enrichment in light rare earth and large-ion lithophile elements, and a depletion in heavy rare earth and high-field-strength elements. Laser ablation – inductively coupled plasma – mass spectrometry U–Pb zircon dating yielded an emplacement age of 414 ± 9 Ma, with an ϵHf(t) value in the range of −10.3 to 1.8. The whole-rock initial 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb and 208Pb/204Pb ratios of the diabase range over 16.811–17.157, 15.331–15.422 and 37.768–37.895, respectively. The (87Sr/86Sr)i ratios vary between 0.7086 and 0.7106, and ϵNd(t) values vary between −14.4 and −13.4, which are significantly higher than the ϵHf(t) value (Nd–Hf decoupling). An interpretation of the elemental and isotopic data suggests that the Yushigou diabase was derived from partial melting of an enriched mantle I (EM-I) -type lithospheric mantle in the spinel–garnet transitional zone. Based on the geochemical features and previous regional geological data, we propose that the Silurian magmatism was most likely triggered by slab break-off after the closure of the North Qilian Ocean, and ancient continental materials from the subduction slab metasomatized the overlying lithospheric mantle during exhumation.

•Yeast two-hybrid technology were utilized to analyze the interactions between 038R and other core proteins of CQIV.•Three CQIV core proteins, including 032R, 125R and 160L, were ...identified to interact with 038R.•038R and 125R were colocalized in the cytoplasm of Sf9 cells.•Both of 038R and 125R were essential for CQIV replication in Cherax quadricarinatus cells.
Iridovirids are a group icosahedral viruses containing linear double-stranded DNA, and mainly infect invertebrates and poikilothermic vertebrates. Cherax quadricarinatus iridovirus (CQIV) is a new species of the family Iridoviridae and can cause high mortality in shrimps. In CQIV genome, there are 25 conserved genes and the putative products are involved in several viral processes. In this study, three core protein including CQIV-032R, CQIV-125R and CQIV-160L were identified to interact with CQIV-038R by yeast two-hybrid (Y2H), and the interaction between CQIV-038R and CQIV-125R was further confirmed by co-immunoprecipitation (Co-IP) assays. In the expression system, EGFP-038R and mCherry-125R were colocalized in the cytoplasm when co-expressed in Sf9 cells. Moreover, silencing the expression of 038R, 125R or both of these two proteins respectively in C. quadricarinatus cells by small interfering RNAs showed significantly inhibit CQIV replication. Collectively, we identified the interaction between 038R and 125R, and demonstrated they are essential for CQIV replication.

The tender leaves of Artemisia japonica Thumb. are often used as vegetables and tea in China. They also used as a traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of liver disease. However, the ...identity of components responsible for health benefits remains unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the antioxidant and hepatic protective effects of a 60 % ethanol extract of Artemisia japonica Thumb. leaves (AJLEE). Total phenol content of AJLEE was determined using Folin Ciocalteau Method and it was calculated to be 123.142 ± 8.441 mg GAE/g. AJLEE shows remarkable antioxidant activity in vitro; pretreatment at 150 µg/mL can almost completely eliminate H2O2-induced ALM12 cell death. Moreover, AJLEE at a dosage of 400 mg/kg exhibits a strong hepatic protective effect against α-naphthylisothiocyanate (ANIT)-induced liver injury though the upregulation of genes for the antioxidant enzymes Sod1, Cat, Gpx4 and Ho-1, while decreasing the level of MDA. These properties of AJLEE may be attributed to the existence of abundant phenolic acids, flavonoids and coumarins, identified by UPLC/QTOF-MS as chlorogenic acid, isochlorogenic acid A, 7-methoxycoumarin and quercetin, apigenin and luteolin glycoside derivatives. Our data support the use of Artemisia japonica leaves as functional tea and food additives to improve human health.

As the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders fifth version (DSM-5) was published, the Kiddie-Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia-Present and Lifetime version ...(K-SADS-PL) was modified to adapt the new version (K-SADS-PL DSM-5). We translated it to Chinese (K-SADS-PL-C DSM-5) and described its reliability and validity.
A total of 154 groups of 6 to 18-year-old children and their guardians were included. Trained interviewers interviewed subjects using the K-SADS-PL-C DSM-5. Interrater reliability was assessed by audio recording. Parent-reported scales, like child behavior checklist (CBCL), the Chinese version of Swan-son Nolan and Pelham, version IV scale-parent form (SNAP-IV), social responsiveness scale (SRS-1), and children-reported scales like depression self-rating scale for children (DSRSC) and the screen for child anxiety related emotional disorders (SCARED) were used to examine the validity of depressive disorder, ADHD, ASD, and ODD.
The K-SADS-PL-C DSM-5 had fair to excellent interrater (0.537–1.000) and test-retest (0.468–0.885) reliability of affective disorder and neurodevelopment disorder. The convergent validity of affective disorder and neurodevelopment disorder was good, and their divergent validity was acceptable.
i) Clinical questionnaires were insensitive in classifying disorders and had limitations in derived diagnoses. ii) Samples only came from clinical environment, iii) covered limited disease species, and iv) were small.
The K-SADS-PL-C DSM-5 can support reliable and valid diagnoses for children with affect, neurodevelopmental, and behavioral disorders in China.
•This is the first study to discuss the psychometrics of the K-SADS-PL DSM-5 in China.•The reliability of Depressive Disorder (MDD), BD, ADHD, TD, and ASD were in fair to excellent ranges.•The convergent and divergent validity of Depressive Disorder (MDD), ADHD, ASD, and ODD were satisfactory.

The effects of (NH4)2SO4 concentration (c((NH4)2SO4)) on hydrogen evolution and Mn electrodeposition on stainless steel (SS) in different potential ranges were investigated by linear sweep ...voltammetry (LSV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiostatic polarization, chronoamperometry, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The results show that the NH4+ discharge reaction (NDR) intensifies the overall hydrogen evolution kinetics, and the NDR is catalyzed by increasing c((NH4)2SO4) and over-potential. The electro-crystallization of Mn on SS follows a three-dimensional progressive nucleation and diffusion-limited growth mechanism. Increasing the over-potential could accelerate the nucleation rate and also cause the decline of the nucleation density. The absorbed Mn2+ preferably discharges at low over-potential. Increasing c((NH4)2SO4) at medium over-potential could improve the current efficiency and produce more block-like grains. The nucleation process is suppressed by increasing c((NH4)2SO4) at high over-potential, at which the formation of columnar grains with higher hydrogen contents becomes prevailing.
