Knowledge must be acquired not only at the moment when it is presented, but also at the site where it is applied to. To guarantee the immediate acquisition of context-rich knowledge at anytime and ...anywhere, fully-automated as well as pervasive capabilities must be considered together. This paper proposes a methodology to capture knowledge on the spot in an autonomous and pervasive manner by deploying the Smartphone as a sensor to monitor and gather dialogue-based knowledge and context data. Smart-ConKAS (SMARTphone-based CONtextual Knowledge Acquisition System), a prototype system, is implemented to validate the proposed concepts.

One of the most serious problems that conventional knowledge management (KM) encompasses has been pointed out tardy and ineffective acquisition of knowledge. To resolve this problem, knowledge must ...be autonomously acquired according to its context of use by applying the technique of keyword extraction in machine learning algorithm-based text mining. Once the topic of the given knowledge can be identified in an automated manner, then a set of knowledge can be explicitly stored in a knowledge repository; fully automated acquisition of knowledge can be achieved. This paper, therefore, suggests an amended knowledge acquisition framework, especially focused on the autonomous acquisition of knowledge in ordinary dialogues. The suggested methodology is underpinned by the functionality of the support vector machine (SVM) which was demonstrated to identify the topic of knowledge in the most accurate and efficient way. To validate the feasibility of the proposed concepts, CKAS (Context-based Knowledge Acquisition System), a prototype system, is implemented.
Many industries have deployed expert systems (ESs) to provide support for solving complicated and specialized problems since 1980. Because ESs are originally designed for generating feasible ...alternatives in an automated manner, users, especially decision makers, expect ESs to make decisions proactively and intelligently by automatically detecting users' contextual data. In other words, decision makers require decision support systems (DSSs) to be reinforced with proactive and intelligent ESs that can utilize contextual data. Meanwhile, ubiquitous technology-based applications currently only provide limited personalization services that use the user's context and preferences; in other words, these systems do not fully make use of sophisticated decision making capabilities. Hence, this paper describes how decision making and context-aware computing are jointly used to establish ubiquitous computing technology-based applications. To do so, we propose an amended DSS paradigm, Context-Knowledge-Dialogue-Data-Model (CKDDM). This model describes what may be considered for future DSSs when we regard ubiquitous computing technology as an inevitable effect that changes how decision making decisions are described. Under the CKDDM paradigm, a framework of ubiquitous decision support systems (ubiDSS) is addressed with the description of the subsystems within. To show the feasibility of ubiDSS, a prototype system, Context-Aware Multi Agent System-My Optimization (CAMA-myOpt) has been implemented as an illustrative example system.

Expert systems are originally designed to generate feasible alternatives in automated manner. The users expect the systems to contribute to make decisions proactively and intelligently by ...automatically detecting the users' various context data. However, conventional expert systems seldom automatically refer to context data, which are indispensable for proactive and intelligent problem solving. Therefore, this paper proposes a method to automatically detect and utilize users' context data for expert systems using the ubiquitous computing technologies. To do so, we propose an amended ES paradigm, CKDDM (Context-Knowledge-Dialogue-Data-Model). Under the CKDDM paradigm, a framework of ubiquitous computing technology-based expert system (ubiES) is addressed with the description of the subsystems within.
Context awareness has been a vital field of ubiquitous computing research. Numerous methods for capturing, interring external context and providing necessary service have been developed and relevant ...projects have been performed. However, user’s internal context is more valuable than the external one. Thus, more searches on internal context are needed. This paper confines its research domain to the internet based information system (IS) in order to infer the internal context of user. For inferring internal context in this IS domain, one of the computer network techniques, packet sniffing technique, is utilized. This is effective and efficient in acquiring the information of the user’s demand. Also, inference algorithm which is integrated with the acquired user’s information is proposed. Furthermore, this paper demonstrates that the prototype system adopts the suggested technique and algorithm in order to prove its validity. The proposed prototype system is the basis of providing IS user with ubiquitous services and enhances the convenience and efficiency during business hour of IS user. In this fashion, this paper presents a new pattern of context acquisition and inference in implementing the ubiquitous computing based-IS along with the direction of internal context awareness research.
