To evaluate the effects of electroacupuncture (EA) on the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), postvoid residual urine (PVR), and maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), and explore the difference ...between EA at acupoints and non-acupoints in patients with moderate to severe benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).
Men with BPH and IPSS ≥8 were enrolled. Participants were randomly allocated to receive EA at acupoint (treatment group, n = 50) and EA at non-acupoint (control group, n = 50). The primary outcome measure includes the change of IPSS at the 6th week and the secondary outcome measures include changes of PVR and Qmax at the 6th week and change of IPSS at the 18th week.
100/192 patients were included. At the 6th week, treatment group patients had a 4.51 (p<0.001) and 4.12 (p<0.001) points greater decline in IPSS than the control group in the intention to treat (ITT) and per-protocol (PP) populations. At the 18th week, a 3.2 points (p = 0.001) greater decline was found in IPSS for the treatment. No significant differences were found between the two groups in Qmax at the 6th week (p = 0.819). No significant difference was observed in PVR (P = 0.35).
Acupoint EA at BL 33 had better effects on IPSS, but no difference on PVR and Qmax as compared with non-acupoint EA. The results indicate that EA is effective in improving patient's quality of life and acupoint may have better therapeutic effects than non-acupoints in acupuncture treatments of BPH.

Despite the growing literature on the efficiency and productivity of the Chinese healthcare system, less attention has been given to examining the undesirable outputs linked to healthcare services, ...including environmental pollution. Taking the atmospheric environmental pollution resulting from the incineration of medical waste as an undesirable output of the healthcare system, this study analyzed the growth and decomposition of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) of healthcare services across 31 Chinese provinces during the period 2005-2016.
The Meta-frontier undesirable super-efficiency slack-based measure (SBM) model and the Global Malmquist-Luenberger (GML) Index were employed to analyze the growth and decomposition of TFP using the Max DEA software.
The results revealed that the years 2009 and 2015 marked significant changes in TFP of healthcare services in Chinese provinces. During the study period, the rate of technological change (TC) slowly declined, whereas the rate of efficiency change (EC) steadily increased. With the national average being the benchmark, the results indicated that: the TFP of 17 provinces and cities exceeded the average, the EC of 16 provinces and cities exceeded the average, the TC of 9 provinces and cities exceeded the average, and the value in the Technology Gap Ratio (TGR) changes of 13 provinces and cities were above the national average.
(1) The TFP of the healthcare services across China continued to decline slowly during the study period. (2) The effect of technical catch-up in the eastern, central, and western regions of China was significant across the three regions, whereas the effect of technical innovation was negative. (3) The TFP varied considerably among the Chinese provinces. These findings suggest that, under existing environmental constraints, relevant government departments should improve technical innovation in the supply of healthcare services and medical waste treatment, increase technical efficiency in the factor of healthcare production, strengthen regional health planning, and balance the development of regional healthcare.

Acupuncture is a potential conservative therapy for women with stress urinary incontinence (SUI). There is limited evidence to support its effectiveness due to the poor quality of existing studies.
...We performed a pilot randomized, controlled trial to preliminarily assess the efficacy of electroacupuncture (EA) in women with pure SUI. A total of 80 women with pure SUI were randomly assigned to receive EA with deep needling at BL33 and BL35 (n = 40) or sham EA with non-penetrating needling at sham acupoints (n = 40) three sessions per week for 6 weeks. The women were followed for 24 weeks. The primary outcome was the change from baseline in the amount of urine leakage measured by a 1-hour pad test after 6 weeks. The secondary outcomes included the 72-hour incontinence episode frequency (IEF), International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire-Short Form (ICIQ-SF) score, and patient self-evaluation of therapeutic effect. Adverse events (AEs) were monitored throughout the trial.
The median decrease from baseline of urine leakage measured by the 1-hour pad test was 2.5 g interquartile range (IQR): 1.80-14.6 in the EA group, which was greater than the median decrease of 0.05 g (IQR: -2.80-+0.50) in the sham EA group after 6 weeks (p<0.01). The differences between groups in the decrease from baseline of 72-hour IEF became statistically significant at week 30 with a median decrease of 3.25 g (IQR: 1.25-5.69) in the EA group, and a median decrease of 1.00 g (IQR: -0.69-+2.88) in the sham EA group (p = 0.01). The participants in the EA group showed greater decreases in ICIQ-SF score and higher ratings in the help they received from the treatment than those in the sham EA group at weeks 6,18 and 30 (all p<0.05). No obvious AEs were observed in either group.
EA may effectively and safely relieve urinary incontinence symptoms and improve quality of life in women with pure SUI. EA demonstrated more than a placebo effect. Since this is a pilot study, results should be interpreted with caution.

IntroductionBenign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition commonly seen among men aged over 40, significantly affecting their quality of life and typically accompanied by lower urinary tract ...symptoms (LUTS). Acupuncture presents a potentially effective treatment option; however, the exact effects remain uncertain. Therefore, we design this multicentre randomised trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of electroacupuncture (EA) for relieving LUTS in men with BPH.Methods and analysisA two-arm, sham-controlled, subject-blinded and assessor-blinded trial will be conducted in 11 hospitals in China to compare EA with sham electroacupuncture (SA) in treating moderate to severe LUTS of BPH among men aged 40–80. A total of 306 eligible male patients will be recruited and assigned at a 1:1 ratio to receive either EA or SA for 24 sessions over a succession of 8 weeks, with 24 weeks of follow-up. The primary outcome will be the proportions of participants with at least 30% reduction in the International Prostate Symptom Score total score from baseline at weeks 8 and 20. All statistical analyses will be conducted in accordance with the intention-to-treat principle, and a two-tailed p value less than 0.05 will be considered statistically significant.Ethics and disseminationThe trial has been approved by the institutional review board of Guang’anmen Hospital (2022-203-KY), as well as other recruitment centres. Each participant will receive the detailed information of the trial, and sign the written informed consent. The results of the trial are expected to be published in a peer-reviewed journal.Trial registration numberNCT05585450.
Developing green and low-carbon agriculture is an important and effective way to promote farmers’ income growth. Given the country’s “dual carbon” goal, the study of the impact of green and ...low-carbon agriculture on the income of farmers in ethnic minority areas is crucial for China to achieve the goals of socialist modernization and common prosperity. Taking Y Town, Zhijin County, Guizhou Province as an example, this paper uses the OLS regression method to empirically study the impact of green and low-carbon agricultural production methods on the income of farmers in ethnic minority mountainous agricultural areas based on the field survey data of 881 farmers. The regression results indicate that there is a positive correlation between green and low-carbon agricultural production and the household income levels of farmers; adopting green and low-carbon agricultural production technologies can effectively promote the growth of farmers’ household income. In addition, education level, health status, and the new rural social pension insurance have all had a significant effect on the income of rural households, however, due to the difficulty in establishing trust relationships, agricultural service outsourcing has reduced the household income level of farmers. As an example, the land transfer behavior in Y Town has no significant effect on increasing farmers’ incomes. Finally, it is recommended to increase fiscal and financial support as well as effectively enhancing farmers’ policy awareness and perception of green and low-carbon agricultural production technologies by improving farmers’ general trust and institutional trust by strengthening farmers’ agricultural education and skills training while cultivating technology-based farming. At the same time, it is necessary to break the geographical restrictions on land transfer scale and achieve moderate-scale land management while promoting the use and adoption of green and low-carbon agricultural production technologies, thereby improving agricultural production efficiency and product quality, and increasing the sustainable growth of farmers’ income. The main contribution of this study is to expand the research scope of green and low-carbon agriculture to ethnic minorities and mountainous agricultural areas.
Digital economy is being closely integrated with agricultural development and tapping into its unique potential to alleviate agriculture’s carbon emissions To explore the mechanism of how digital ...economy reduce the agricultural carbon emissions, this paper constructs a systematic evaluation method with extend STIRPAT model and panel data drawn from 29 provinces (or municipalities and autonomous regions) in the Chinese mainland from 2013–2020. The results show that the development of the rural digital economy has a significant negative influence on agricultural CEs, and this result is still valid given robustness tests. Second, the alleviation of CEs based on the rural digital economy is more significant in the higher technological investment zones than that in the lower technological investment zones, and the central and eastern regions also have more significant CEs reduction effect. Third, the influence mechanism analysis shows that agricultural green technology change is an effective means to promote the rural digital economy’s CEs reduction effect. This paper not only provide new empirical evidence for understanding nexus between digital economy and agricultural carbon reduction, but also give constructive policy implication to improve agricultural green development.
Anxiety is a common mental health problem among older persons, and the prevalence is higher in those who live alone than those who live with others. This study aimed to explore the experiences of ...anxiety in older persons living alone. A descriptive phenomenological approach was used to collect and analyze the interview data from 15 older persons (5 males, 10 females) living alone in Seoul, South Korea. Four main themes emerged from the data analysis: fear of being alone, concern about having an aged body, apprehension mixed with depression and loneliness, and fear of economic difficulties. These findings indicate that older persons living alone should receive continuous attention to prevent them from being neglected and their anxiety from worsening. Above all, it is vital to ensure comprehensive support for older persons living alone to alleviate their anxiety.
As the most commonly used information transmission method, digital images often store a large amount of personal information. To prevent information leakage, encrypting images is essential. Common ...image encryption techniques suffer from certain limitations, such as overly simple encryption methods and long encryption times. In response to the above issues, this study proposes the Frobenius canonical form image encryption scheme. It calculates the fractal code through the fractal compression algorithm and to encrypt the image, it adjusts the brightness coefficient in the fractal code. To address unsatisfactory correlation coefficients in encrypted images, the Frobenius canonical form image encryption is improved by introducing the Arnold transformation encryption, which combines the two methods to reduce correlation coefficients. Finally, the knight tour algorithm is put forward. In response to the long image scrambling time in the knight tour algorithm, the Tetragonal theorem is combined with the scheme to encrypt the image. It is then re-encrypted using the Frobenius canonical form. The experimental findings illustrate that when using Frobenius canonical form, Arnold transformation combined with Frobenius canonical form, and the tetragonal algorithm combined with knight tour algorithm to encrypt Lena images, the three decryption methods correspond to image similarity of over 70%, over 80%, and over 90%, respectively. Combining the tetragonal algorithm and the knight tour algorithm can significantly increase the security of image encryption.
This study surveyed households to understand their willingness to participate in afforestation programs in Ningxia and Sichuan and also strove to understand the incentives for rural households to ...participate in afforestation activities and to make suggestions for the improvement of afforestation preferential policies. According to the survey, most households are willing to participate in afforestation, but only a minority of households have been aware of the details of afforestation preferential policies. Thus, there is still work for the government to do. Based on our analysis of the factors influencing households' willingness to participate in afforestation, policy suggestions are provided. First, the government should reinforce policy promotion. Second, the government should choose the most responsible region to plant trees and consider the impact on environmental and human development. Third, central and local forest divisions should manage rural households’ expectations through a series of policy measures tailored to increase the confidence of rural households. Objective To develop a nomogram based on tumor and peritumoral edema (PE) radiomics features extracted from preoperative multiparameter MRI for predicting brain invasion (BI) in atypical meningioma ...(AM). Methods In this retrospective study, according to the 2021 WHO classification criteria, a total of 469 patients with pathologically confirmed AM from three medical centres were enrolled and divided into training (n = 273), internal validation (n = 117) and external validation (n = 79) cohorts. BI was diagnosed based on the histopathological examination. Preoperative contrast-enhanced T1-weighted MR images (T1C) and T2-weighted MR images (T2) for extracting meningioma features and T2-fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) sequences for extracting meningioma and PE features were obtained. The multiple logistic regression was applied to develop separate multiparameter radiomics models for comparison. A nomogram was developed by combining radiomics features and clinical risk factors, and the clinical usefulness of the nomogram was verified using decision curve analysis. Results Among the clinical factors, PE volume and PE/tumor volume ratio are the risk of BI in AM. The combined nomogram based on multiparameter MRI radiomics features of meningioma and PE and clinical indicators achieved the best performance in predicting BI in AM, with area under the curve values of 0.862 (95% CI, 0.819-0.905) in the training cohort, 0.834 (95% CI, 0.780-0.908) in the internal validation cohort and 0.867 (95% CI, 0.785-0.950) in the external validation cohort, respectively. Conclusions The nomogram based on tumor and PE radiomics features extracted from preoperative multiparameter MRI and clinical factors can predict the risk of BI in patients with AM.
