This study proposed a novel construct - green core competence - to explore its positive effects on green innovation and green images of firms. The results showed that green core competences of firms ...were positively correlated to their green innovation performance and green images. In addition, this research also verified two types of green innovation performance had partial mediation effects between green core competences and green images of firms. Therefore, investment in the development of green core competence was helpful to businesses for the enhancement of their green innovation and green images. Furthermore, this study found that green core competence, two types of green innovation performance, and green images of medium & small enterprises (SMEs) were all significantly less than those of large enterprises in the information and electronics industry in Taiwan. Therefore, there was the advantage of firm size for the green core competence in this industry, and it was imperative for SMEs to develop and create their green core competences to strengthen their green innovation performance, and green images.

The object of this research study was information and electronics products in Taiwan. This research employed an empirical study by use of the questionnaire survey method. The questionnaires were randomly mailed to consumers who had the experience of purchasing information and electronics products. The results showed that green brand image, green satisfaction, and green trust are positively related to green brand equity. Furthermore, the positive relationship between green brand image and green brand equity is partially mediated by green satisfaction and green trust. Hence, investing on resources to increase green brand image, green satisfaction, and green trust is helpful to enhance green brand equity.
Because no previous literature discusses the determinants of green product development performance, this study develops an original framework to fill the research gap. This study explores the ...influences of green dynamic capabilities and green transformational leadership on green product development performance and investigates the mediation role of green creativity. The results demonstrate that green dynamic capabilities and green transformational leadership positively influence green creativity and green product development performance. Besides, this study indicates that the positive relationships between green product development performance and their two antecedents—green dynamic capabilities and green transformational leadership—are partially mediated by green creativity. It means that green dynamic capabilities and green transformational leadership can not only directly affect green product development performance positively but also indirectly affect it positively via green creativity. Hence, companies have to increase their green dynamic capabilities, green transformational leadership, and green creativity to enhance their green product development performance.
Purpose
The purpose of this study is to develop an original framework to explore the influences of green perceived value and green perceived risk on green purchase intentions and to discuss the ...mediation role of green trust.
Design/methodology/approach
This study applies four original concepts – green perceived value, green perceived risk, green trust, and green purchase intentions – to develop an integral model to enhance green purchase intentions. In addition, this research employs an empirical study by means of the questionnaire survey method to verify the hypotheses and to explore its managerial implications. Structural equation modeling (SEM) is applied to verify the research framework.
Findings
The empirical results show that green perceived value would positively affect green trust and green purchase intentions, while green perceived risk would negatively influence both of them. Furthermore, this study demonstrates that the relationships between green purchase intentions and their two antecedents – green perceived value and green perceived risk – are partially mediated by green trust. Hence, investing resources to increase green perceived value and to decrease green perceived risk is helpful to enhance green trust and green purchase intentions.
Originality/value
This study summarizes the literature on green marketing and relationship marketing into a new managerial framework of green purchase intentions. It utilizes four novel constructs – green perceived value, green perceived risk, green trust, and green purchase intentions – to develop an original research framework to enhance green purchase intentions. Although past research has highlighted the relevant issues about purchase intentions, none explores it about green management. Therefore, this paper develops the research framework of green purchase intentions to fill the research gap.
Collagen is a major component in a wide range of drug delivery systems and biomaterial applications. Its basic physical and structural properties, together with its low immunogenicity and natural ...turnover, are keys to its biocompatibility and effectiveness. In addition to its material properties, the collagen triple-helix interacts with a large number of molecules that trigger biological events. Collagen interactions with cell surface receptors regulate many cellular processes, while interactions with other ECM components are critical for matrix structure and remodeling. Collagen also interacts with enzymes involved in its biosynthesis and degradation, including matrix metalloproteinases. Over the past decade, much information has been gained about the nature and specificity of collagen interactions with its partners. These studies have defined collagen sequences responsible for binding and the high-resolution structures of triple-helical peptides bound to its natural binding partners. Strategies to target collagen interactions are already being developed, including the use of monoclonal antibodies to interfere with collagen fibril formation and the use of triple-helical peptides to direct liposomes to melanoma cells. The molecular information about collagen interactions will further serve as a foundation for computational studies to design small molecules that can interfere with specific interactions or target tumor cells. Intelligent control of collagen biological interactions within a material context will expand the effectiveness of collagen-based drug delivery.

As a complex paleo-ocean located between the Tarim-North China and the Sibumasu/Baoshan blocks, the Proto-Tethys Ocean was opened from the rifting of the Supercontinent Rodinia and mainly closed at ...the end of the Early Paleozoic. The known studies suggest that there were many continents and/or micro-continents in the Proto-Tethys Ocean. During closure of the Proto-Tethys Ocean and assembly of these continents/micro-continents, some Early Paleozoic ophiolites and HP-UHP metamorphic rocks developed in East Asia similar to those Early Paleozoic orogens in Gondwana. However, some academic debates still remain on the boundaries of the Proto-Tethys Ocean and the nature, relationships and assembly processes of these continents/micro-continents to the Tarim-North China Continent to the north. These problems are important for revealing and reconstructing tectonic processes before the closure of the Proto-Tethys Ocean and the initial assembly of the Supercontinent Pangea. Not surprisingly, the Proto-Tethys tectonic domain is characterized by complex ocean-continent configurations, assemblies and dispersals of continents, from the rifting and drifting of the Supercontinent Rodinia to the assembly of the Supercontinent Pangea. Therefore, this paper mainly focuses on summarizing and discussing the northern part of the Proto-Tethys tectonic domain based on field geology, structural geology, magmatism, sedimentary formations, geochemical records, geochronology and tomography, in order to reveal three key aspects: 1) identifying the southern and northern boundaries of the Proto-Tethys Ocean; 2) establishing affinities of continents/micro-continents within the Proto-Tethys Ocean and its ocean-continent configuration; and 3) clarifying the temporal sequence and styles of micro-continental assembly and the closure of the Proto-Tethys Ocean. Integrated analysis results show that to the north the region is bounded by the paleo-Luonan-Luanchuan Suture (or Kuanping Suture) and its extension to West Kunlun; the southern boundary is marked by the Longmu Co-Shuanghu-Changning-Menglian Suture. The Tarim-Alax-North China Block to the north of the Proto-Tethys Ocean had a southward subduction polarity and collided with Gondwana along the northern margin of Gondwana in the Early Devonian. The southern branch of the Proto-Tethys Ocean may be closed, making the Greater South China Block, including the northern Qiangtang, Ruoergai, Yangtze and Cathaysia, Bureya-Jiamusi and Indochina blocks, southward subduction and accretion to the northern margin of Gondwana in the Early Devonian. The results also show that the North China Block had no clear affinity to Gondwana, whereas the other continental/micro-continental blocks, such as the Yangtze, Cathaysia, Tarim, Qaidam, Alax, North Qinling, Qilian, Oulongbuluke, South Qiangtang, Lhasa, Lanping-Simao and Indochina all have an affinity to Gondwana in the earlier part of the Early Paleozoic. During the interval 480–400Ma these series of continental blocks/micro-continental blocks experienced gradual southward subduction and accretion to the eastern segment of the northern margin of Gondwana, resulting in the closure of the Proto-Tethys Ocean and formation of the supercontinent called Proto-Pangea. The Greater South China Block and the Tarim-North China Block separated and drifted from Greater Gondwana of the Supercontinent Proto-Pangea since 380Ma, resulting in the formation of the Paleo-Tethys and the Mianlue oceanic crusts. After this minor adjustment and until 240–220Ma, they assembled northward gradually to develop Laurasia, which in turn resulted in the final formation of the Supercontinent Pangea.

Purpose
– The authors aim to apply an “interpretive context – organizational action – outcome” framework to explore the positive effect of green organizational identity on green innovation ...performance. Besides, they would like to verify that both environmental commitment and environmental organizational legitimacy mediate between green organizational identity and green innovation performance.
Design/methodology/approach
– The authors utilize a hybrid research method that includes both questionnaire data and public data to test the hypotheses to satisfy the triangulation in methodology. In addition, structural equation modeling (SEM) is used to perform the empirical research.
Findings
– The results show that green organizational identity would positively affect green innovation performance. Moreover, green organizational identity could positively influence green innovation performance indirectly via environmental commitment and environmental organizational legitimacy. Firms should increase their green organizational identity, environmental commitment, and environmental organizational legitimacy to enhance their green innovation performance. Furthermore, the authors find out that green organizational identity, environmental commitment, environmental organizational legitimacy, and green innovation performance of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are lower than those of large enterprises in Taiwan.

First-row transition metal-based catalysts have been developed for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) during the past years, however, such catalysts typically operate at overpotentials (η) ...significantly above thermodynamic requirements. Here, we report an iron/nickel terephthalate coordination polymer on nickel form (NiFeCP/NF) as catalyst for OER, in which both coordinated and uncoordinated carboxylates were maintained after electrolysis. NiFeCP/NF exhibits outstanding electro-catalytic OER activity with a low overpotential of 188 mV at 10 mA cm
in 1.0 KOH, with a small Tafel slope and excellent stability. The pH-independent OER activity of NiFeCP/NF on the reversible hydrogen electrode scale suggests that a concerted proton-coupled electron transfer (c-PET) process is the rate-determining step (RDS) during water oxidation. Deuterium kinetic isotope effects, proton inventory studies and atom-proton-transfer measurements indicate that the uncoordinated carboxylates are serving as the proton transfer relays, with a similar function as amino acid residues in photosystem II (PSII), accelerating the proton-transfer rate.
Fecundity is arguably one of the most important life history traits, as it is closely tied to fitness. Most arthropods are recognized for their extreme reproductive capacity. For example, a single ...female of the oriental fruit fly Bactrocera dorsalis, a highly invasive species that is one of the most destructive agricultural pests worldwide, can lay more than 3000 eggs during its life span. The ovary is crucial for insect reproduction and its development requires further investigation at the molecular level. We report here that miR-309a is a regulator of ovarian development in B. dorsalis. Our bioinformatics and molecular studies have revealed that miR-309a binds the transcription factor pannier (GATA-binding factor A/pnr), and this activates yolk vitellogenin 2 (Vg 2) and vitellogenin receptor (VgR) advancing ovarian development. We further show that miR-309a is under the control of juvenile hormone (JH) and independent from 20-hydroxyecdysone. Thus, we identified a JH-controlled miR-309a/pnr axis that regulates Vg2 and VgR to control the ovarian development. This study has further enhanced our understanding of molecular mechanisms governing ovarian development and insect reproduction. It provides a background for identifying targets for controlling important Dipteran pests.
