Determining the altitude of side-scan sonar (SSS) above the seabed is critical to correct the geometric distortions in the sonar images. Usually, a technology named bottom tracking is applied to ...estimate the distance between the sonar and the seafloor. However, the traditional methods for bottom tracking often require pre-defined thresholds and complex optimization processes, which make it difficult to achieve ideal results in complex underwater environments without manual intervention. In this paper, a universal automatic bottom tracking method is proposed based on semantic segmentation. First, the waterfall images generated from SSS backscatter sequences are labeled as water column (WC) and seabed parts, then split into specific patches to build the training dataset. Second, a symmetrical information synthesis module (SISM) is designed and added to DeepLabv3+, which not only weakens the strong echoes in the WC area, but also gives the network the capability of considering the symmetry characteristic of bottom lines, and most importantly, the independent module can be easily combined with any other neural networks. Then, the integrated network is trained with the established dataset. Third, a coarse-to-fine segmentation strategy with the well-trained model is proposed to segment the SSS waterfall images quickly and accurately. Besides, a fast bottom line search algorithm is proposed to further reduce the time consumption of bottom tracking. Finally, the proposed method is validated by the data measured with several commonly used SSSs in various underwater environments. The results show that the proposed method can achieve the bottom tracking accuracy of 1.1 pixels of mean error and 1.26 pixels of standard deviation at the speed of 2128 ping/s, and is robust to interference factors.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in women. It is necessary to classify breast cancer subtypes because different subtypes need specific treatment. Identifying biomarkers and classifying ...breast cancer subtypes is essential for developing appropriate treatment methods for patients. MiRNAs can be easily detected in tumor biopsy and play an inhibitory or promoting role in breast cancer, which are considered promising biomarkers for distinguishing subtypes. A new method combing ensemble regularized multinomial logistic regression and Cox regression was proposed for identifying miRNA biomarkers in breast cancer. After adopting stratified sampling and bootstrap sampling, the most suitable sample subset for miRNA feature screening was determined via ensemble 100 regularized multinomial logistic regression models. 124 miRNAs that participated in the classification of at least 3 subtypes and appeared at least 50 times in 100 integrations were screened as features. 22 miRNAs from the proposed feature set were further identified as the biomarkers for breast cancer by using Cox regression based on survival analysis. The accuracy of 5 methods on the proposed feature set was significantly higher than on the other two feature sets. The results of 7 biological analyses illustrated the rationality of the identified biomarkers. The screened features can better distinguish breast cancer subtypes. Notably, the genes and proteins related to the proposed 22 miRNAs were considered oncogenes or inhibitors of breast cancer. 9 of the 22 miRNAs have been proved to be markers of breast cancer. Therefore, our results can be considered in future related research.

Antidiabetic medication may modulate the gut microbiota and thereby alter plasma and faecal bile acid (BA) composition, which may improve metabolic health. Here we show that treatment with Acarbose, ...but not Glipizide, increases the ratio between primary BAs and secondary BAs and plasma levels of unconjugated BAs in treatment-naive type 2 diabetes (T2D) patients, which may beneficially affect metabolism. Acarbose increases the relative abundances of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium in the gut microbiota and depletes Bacteroides, thereby changing the relative abundance of microbial genes involved in BA metabolism. Treatment outcomes of Acarbose are dependent on gut microbiota compositions prior to treatment. Compared to patients with a gut microbiota dominated by Prevotella, those with a high abundance of Bacteroides exhibit more changes in plasma BAs and greater improvement in metabolic parameters after Acarbose treatment. Our work highlights the potential for stratification of T2D patients based on their gut microbiota prior to treatment.
BACKGROUNDPrevious research has emphasized the effects of lifestyle and genetics on ageing. However, the association between exposure to phthalates, which are extensively used in cosmetics and ...personal care products, and ageing is still unclear.METHODData for 4711 subjects from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2005 to 2010 were incorporated in the present study. The acceleration of the Klemera-Doubal method-biological age (KDM-BA) and phenotypic Age (PhenoAge) were measured by the composite of 13 biomarkers. Multiple-linear and weighted-quantile sum (WQS) regression models were constructed to explore the relationships of single- and combined-phthalate exposures, as indicated by urinary phthalate metabolites, with KDM-BA and PhenoAge. A generalized additive model (GAM) was fitted to explore the potential nonlinear relationships among the above variables.RESULTSExcept for mono-(carboxynonyl), all urinary phthalate metabolites were associated with biological ageing, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.241 to 0.526; however, mono-ethyl presented a negative correlation. The WQS models revealed mixed effects of combined urinary phthalate metabolites on ageing, with a 0.22-year ((95 % CI) 0.09, 0.32) increase in KDM-BA acceleration and a 0.27-year ((95 % CI) 0.13, 0.37) increase in PhenoAge acceleration for each decile increase in urinary phthalate metabolites. Moreover, MCPP, MEOHP, and MBzP seemed to be the top three phthalates in terms of biological ageing, with weights of 33.3 % and 32.2 %, 29.2 % and 17.2 %, and 21.5 % and 30.1 % in KDM-BA and PhenoAge acceleration, respectively.CONCLUSIONSingle-phthalate exposure was mostly associated with the ageing process, and combined-phthalate exposure presented mixed effects on biological ageing, emphasizing phthalate exposure as a significant risk factor for ageing.

Solanum nigrum L. is considered to be a potential plant for restoring Cd-contaminated soils. Si could enhance plants tolerance to heavy metal; however, the mechanism of Si-mediated alleviation of Cd ...toxicity in S. nigrum was not clear. Three-week-old S. nigrum seedlings were grown in Hoagland solution containing 0 or 100 μM Cd with or without 1 mM Si for 4 days. The results showed that the Cd concentration both in roots and shoots of Si-supplied plant was significantly reduced, especially in expanding and old leaves. The relative proportion of ethanol-extractable Cd, water-extractable Cd and NaCl-extractable Cd in roots was increased by adding Si, while the root-to-shoot Cd translocation was not decreased. Furthermore, in comparison with single Cd treatment, supplying Si could reduce H2O2 accumulation and cell death in roots, and the electrolyte leakage and H2O2 concentration in functional leaves. Moreover, the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD, EC 1.15.1.1), catalase (CAT, EC 1.11.1.6), peroxidase (POD, EC 1.11.1.7) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX, EC 1.11.1.11) in functional leaves was markedly increased by Cd exposure, while the antioxidative enzyme activities in Cd plus Si treatment seedlings were significantly lower than that in Cd treatment alone, this decrease might be attributed to the reduction of Cd concentration and Cd-induced oxidative damages. These results demonstrate that Si-enhanced Cd tolerance in S. nigrum is mainly due to the decrease of Cd uptake in roots and Cd distribution in expanding and old leaves, as well as lowering oxidative stress induced by Cd in plants.

Cyan fluorescent carbon dots (G-CDs)were prepared from Glutathione (GSH) and m-phenylenediamine by one-step hydrothermal method. Interestingly, the synthesized G-CDs were modified with many functional groups, which can reduce Au3+ to Au-nanoparticles (AuNPs). The formed AuNPs led to fluorescence quenching of G-CDs because of internal filter effect (IFE). Furthermore, a fluorescent and colorimetric dual-mode sensor based on G-CDs/AuNPs was constructed and further applied for the analysis of L-cysteine (L-cys) and Zinc thiazole (ZTH). The fluorescence of G-CDs/AuNPs recovered from “turn-off” to “turn-on”, which may be owing to the interaction of L-cys and ZTH with AuNPs, resulting in the aggregation of AuNPs and disappearance of IFE. At the same time, the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of AuNPs was reduced. The dual-mode sensing platform not only had high sensitivity and selectivity for L-cys and ZTH, but also conducted visual detection. The fluorescence and absorbance detection limits for L-cys and ZTH were 0.01 µM, 0.1 µM, and 0.035 mg/L, 0.05 mg/L, respectively. It should be noted that G-CDs/AuNPs sensor has been successfully applied to monitor L-cys and ZTH in skin lotion, milk, lettuce, tea and other real samples, proving the potential application.

Players tend to start with purposive information seeking, then move on to an intrinsic stimulation. Socialization is also an important dimension. The research demonstrates several implications for tourism marketing.

Abstract
Neuropathic pain encompasses a diverse array of clinical entities affecting 7-10% of the population, which is challenging to adequately treat. Several promising therapeutics derived from molecular discoveries in animal models of neuropathic pain have failed to translate following unsuccessful clinical trials suggesting the possibility of important cellular-level and molecular differences between animals and humans. Establishing the extent of potential differences between laboratory animals and humans, through direct study of human tissues and/or cells, is likely important in facilitating translation of preclinical discoveries to meaningful treatments. Patch-clamp electrophysiology and RNA-sequencing was performed on dorsal root ganglia taken from patients with variable presence of radicular/neuropathic pain. Findings establish that spontaneous action potential generation in dorsal root ganglion neurons is associated with radicular/neuropathic pain and radiographic nerve root compression. Transcriptome analysis suggests presence of sex-specific differences and reveals gene modules and signalling pathways in immune response and neuronal plasticity related to radicular/neuropathic pain that may suggest therapeutic avenues and that has the potential to predict neuropathic pain in future cohorts.

Rivers are the major carriers of dissolved black carbon (DBC) from land to ocean; the sources of DBC during its continuous transformation and cycling in the ocean, however, are not well ...characterized. Here, we present new carbon isotope data for DBC in four large and two small mountainous rivers, the Yangtze and Yellow river estuaries, the East China Sea and the North Pacific Ocean. C ages in rivers are predominantly young and increase during continuous transport and cycling in the ocean. The results of charcoal leaching experiments indicate that DBC is released from charcoal and degraded by bacteria. Our study suggests that riverine DBC is labile and respired during transport and mixing into the ocean and that residual DBC is cycled and aged on the same time scales as bulk DOC in the ocean.

Abstract
The Calvin-Benson-Bassham (CBB) cycle is responsible for CO2 assimilation and carbohydrate production in oxyphototrophs. Phosphoribulokinase (PRK) is an essential enzyme of the CBB cycle in photosynthesis, catalyzing ATP-dependent conversion of ribulose-5-phosphate (Ru5P) to ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate. The oxyphototrophic PRK is redox-regulated and can be further regulated by reversible association with both glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) and oxidized chloroplast protein CP12. The resulting GAPDH/CP12/PRK complex is central in the regulation of the CBB cycle; however, the PRK-CP12 interface in the recently reported cyanobacterial GAPDH/CP12/PRK structure was not well resolved, and the detailed binding mode of PRK with ATP and Ru5P remains undetermined, as only apo-form structures of PRK are currently available. Here, we report the crystal structures of cyanobacterial (Synechococcus elongatus) PRK in complex with ADP and glucose-6-phosphate and of the Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) GAPDH/CP12/PRK complex, providing detailed information regarding the active site of PRK and the key elements essential for PRK-CP12 interaction. Our structural and biochemical results together reveal that the ATP binding site is disrupted in the oxidized PRK, whereas the Ru5P binding site is occupied by oxidized CP12 in the GAPDH/CP12/PRK complex. This structure-function study greatly advances the understanding of the reaction mechanism of PRK and the subtle regulations of redox signaling for the CBB cycle.
