Tin diselenide (SnSe2) nanosheets as novel 2D layered materials have excellent optical properties with many promising application prospects, such as photoelectric detectors, nonlinear optics, ...infrared photoelectric devices, and ultrafast photonics. Among them, ultrafast photonics has attracted much attention due to its enormous advantages; for instance, extremely fast pulse, strong peak power, and narrow bandwidth. In this work, SnSe2 nanosheets are fabricated by using solvothermal treatment, and the characteristics of SnSe2 are systemically investigated. In addition, the solution of SnSe2 nanosheets is successfully prepared as a fiber‐based saturable absorber by utilizing the evanescent field effect, which can bear a high pump power. 31st‐order subpicosecond harmonic mode locking is generated in an Er‐doped fiber laser, corresponding to the maximum repetition rate of 257.3 MHz and pulse duration of 887 fs. The results show that SnSe2 can be used as an excellent nonlinear photonic device in many fields, such as frequency comb, lasers, photodetectors, etc.

Osteosarcoma (OS) is a common kind of aggressive tumor in bone which was mostly identified in children and adolescents with extremely high risk of death. Accumulating research works have displayed ...that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) exert an essential role in the development of multiple cancers. It has been reported that TMPO‐AS1 is an oncogene in cancers; nonetheless, its molecular mechanism in OS is totally unclear. Our present study elucidated that a remarkable overexpression of TMPO‐AS1 was found in OS tissues and cells. Moreover, TMPO‐AS1 depletion restrained Wnt/β‐catenin pathway and cell proliferation as well as facilitated cell apoptosis. Further molecular mechanism investigations showed that TMPO‐AS1 can sponge to miR‐199a‐5p. Moreover, miR‐199a‐5p was at a low level at OS cells. Importantly, miR‐199a‐5p's overexpression was associated with the OS cells' decreased proliferation and increased apoptosis. In addition, WNT7B was confirmed as a downstream gene of miR‐199a‐5p. Also the WNT7B expression was reversely modulated by miR‐199a‐5p and positively modulated by TMPO‐AS1. Rescue experiments suggested that downregulated WNT7B rescued miR‐199a‐5p inhibitor‐mediated repression on OS progression, but the treatment of LiCl counteracted the effect of WNT7B downregulation. In a word, TMPO‐AS1 serves as a competing endogenous RNA to boost osteosarcoma tumorigenesis by regulating miR‐199a‐5p/WNT7B axis, which provided an underlying therapeutic target for patients with OS.
TMPO‐AS1 expression is upregulated in osteosarcoma (OS) tissues and cells, and TMPO‐AS1 knockdown inhibits cell proliferation whereas induces cell apoptosis. TMPO‐AS1 serves as a sponge of miR‐199a‐5p and miR‐199a‐5p is a tumor‐suppressor in OS.

Abstract
The electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction to syngas with controlled CO/H
2
ratios has been studied on Pd-based bimetallic hydrides using a combination of in situ characterization ...and density functional theory calculations. When compared with pure Pd hydride, the bimetallic Pd hydride formation occurs at more negative potentials for Pd-Ag, Pd-Cu, and Pd-Ni. Theoretical calculations show that the choice of the second metal has a more significant effect on the adsorption strength of *H than *HOCO, with the free energies between these two key intermediates (i.e., ΔG(*H)–ΔG(*HOCO)) correlating well with the carbon dioxide reduction reaction activity and selectivity observed in the experiments, and thus can be used as a descriptor to search for other bimetallic catalysts. The results also demonstrate the possibility of alloying Pd with non-precious transition metals to promote the electrochemical conversion of CO
2
to syngas.
Purpose
To understand which environmental factors influence the distribution and ecological functions of bacteria in agricultural soil.
Method
A broad range of farmland soils was sampled from 206 ...locations in Jilin province, China. We used 16S rRNA gene-based Illumina HiSeq sequencing to estimated soil bacterial community structure and functions.
Result
The dominant taxa in terms of abundance were found to be, Actinobacteria, Acidobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Chloroflexi, and Proteobacteria. Bacterial communities were dominantly affected by soil pH, whereas soil organic carbon did not have a significant influence on bacterial communities. Soil pH was significantly positively correlated with bacterial operational taxonomic unit abundance and soil bacterial α-diversity (P<0.05) spatially rather than with soil nutrients. Bacterial functions were estimated using FAPROTAX, and the relative abundance of anaerobic and aerobic chemoheterotrophs, and nitrifying bacteria was 27.66%, 26.14%, and 6.87%, respectively, of the total bacterial community. Generally, the results indicate that soil pH is more important than nutrients in shaping bacterial communities in agricultural soils, including their ecological functions and biogeographic distribution.

Paraquat (PQ), a broad‐spectrum agricultural pesticide, causes cellular toxicity by increasing oxidative stress levels in various biological systems, including the reproductive system. PQ exposure ...causes embryotoxicity and reduces the developmental abilities of embryos. However, there is little information regarding the toxic effects of PQ on oocyte maturation. In this study, we studied the toxic effects of PQ exposure and the effects of melatonin on PQ‐induced damage in bovine oocytes. PQ exposure disrupted nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation, which was manifested as decreased cumulus cell expansion, reduced first polar body extrusion, and abnormal distribution patterns of cortical granules and mitochondria. In addition, PQ treatment severely disrupted the ability of the resulted in vitro‐produced embryos to develop to the blastocyst stage. Moreover, PQ exposure significantly increased the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) level and early apoptotic rate, and decreased the glutathione (GSH) level, antioxidative CAT and GPx4 mRNA, and apoptotic‐related Bcl-2/Bax mRNA ratio. These results indicated that PQ causes reproductive toxicity in bovine oocytes. Melatonin application resulted in significant protection against the toxic effects of PQ in PQ‐exposed oocytes. The mechanisms underlying the role of melatonin included the inhibition of PQ‐induced p38 mitogen‐activated protein kinase (MAPK) activation, and restoration of abnormal trimethyl‐histone H3 lysine 4 (H3K4me3) and trimethyl‐histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9me3) levels. These results reveal that melatonin serves as a powerful agent against experimental PQ‐induced toxicity during bovine oocyte maturation and could form a basis for further studies to develop therapeutic strategies against PQ poisoning.

Vitrification of oocytes has been shown to be closely associated with increased levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and apoptotic events. However, little information is available the effect of ...melatonin on the ROS levels and apoptotic events in vitrified oocytes. Therefore, we studied the effect of melatonin on ROS and apoptotic events in vitrified bovine oocytes by supplementing vitrification solution or in vitro maturation (IVM) and vitrification solution with 10−9 m melatonin. We analyzed the ROS, mitochondrial Ca2+ (mCa2+) and membrane potential (ΔΨm), externalization of phosphatidylserine (PS), caspase‐3 activation, DNA fragmentation, mRNA expression levels of Bax and Bcl2 l1, and developmental potential of vitrified bovine oocytes. Vitrified bovine oocytes exhibited increased levels of ROS, mCa2+, Bax mRNA, and caspase‐3 protein and higher rates of PS externalization and DNA fragmentation, and decreased ΔΨm and Bcl2 l1 mRNA expression level. However, melatonin supplementation in vitrification solution or IVM and vitrification solution significantly decreased the levels of ROS, mCa2+, Bax mRNA expression, and caspase‐3 protein, and PS externalization and DNA fragmentation rates, and increased the ΔΨm and Bcl2 l1 mRNA expression level in vitrified oocytes, resulting in an increased developmental ability of vitrified bovine oocytes after parthenogenetic activation. The developmental ability of vitrified oocytes with melatonin supplementation in IVM and vitrification solution was similar to that of fresh ones. This study showed that supplementing the IVM and vitrification medium or vitrification medium with 10−9 m melatonin significantly decreased the ROS level and inhibited apoptotic events of vitrified bovine oocytes, consequently increasing their developmental potential.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and aggressive primary brain malignancy. Studies have shown that autophagy-related (ATG) genes play important roles in regulating GBM malignancy. However, the ...mechanism still needs to be fully elucidated. Based on clinical and gene expression information of GBM patients downloaded from The The Cancer Genome Atlas database, Kaplan-Meier, univariate Cox regression, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression and multivariate Cox regression were applied to construct a risk signature for GBM prognosis, followed by validation using receiver operating characteristic analysis. Next, Cell Counting Kit-8, wound healing assay, flow cytometry, monodansyl cadaverine autophagy staining assay, immunofluorescence staining and western blot, either in the absence or presence of ERBB2/AKT/mTOR inhibitors, were carried out in GBM U87 cell line to explore molecular pathway underlying GBM malignancy. A three-ATG-gene signature (HIF1A, ITGA3, and NGR1) was constructed for GBM prognosis with the greatest contribution from NRG1. In vitro experiments showed that NRG1 promoted U87 cell migration and proliferation by inhibiting autophagy, and ERBB2/AKT/mTOR is a downstream pathway that mediates the autophagy-inhibitory effects of NRG1. We constructed an ATG gene prognostic model for GBM and demonstrated that NRG1 inhibited autophagy by activating ERBB2/AKT/mTOR, promoting GBM malignancy, thus providing new insights into the molecular contribution of autophagy in GBM malignancy.

The disulfide compounds of molybdenum (MoS2) are layered van der Waals materials that exhibit a rich array of polymorphic structures. MoS2 can be roughly divided into semiconductive phase and ...metallic phase according to the difference in electron filling state of the 4d orbital of Mo atom. The two phases show completely different properties, leading to their diverse applications in biosensors. But to some extent, they compensate for each other. This review first introduces the relationship between phase state and the chemical/physical structures and properties of MoS2. Furthermore, the synthetic methods are summarized and the preparation strategies for metastable phases are highlighted. In addition, examples of electronic and chemical property designs of MoS2 by means of doping and surface modification are outlined. Finally, studies on biosensors based on MoS2 in recent years are presented and classified, and the roles of MoS2 with different phases are highlighted. This review offers references for the selection of materials to construct different types of biosensors based on MoS2, and provides inspiration for sensing performance enhancement.
The phase and structure/property correlation of polyphase MoS2 is clarified. Preparation strategies for metastable phases, electronic and chemical property modulation via functionalization, and recent studies on MoS2‐based biosensors are outlined. This review offers references for the selection of materials to construct MoS2‐based biosensors, and provides inspiration for sensing performance enhancement.

Summary
Accurate and high‐throughput phenotyping of the dynamic response of a large rice population to drought stress in the field is a bottleneck for genetic dissection and breeding of drought ...resistance.
Here, high‐efficiency and high‐frequent image acquisition by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was utilized to quantify the dynamic drought response of a rice population under field conditions. Deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs) and canopy height models were applied to extract highly correlated phenotypic traits including UAV‐based leaf‐rolling score (LRS_uav), plant water content (PWC_uav) and a new composite trait, drought resistance index by UAV (DRI_uav).
The DCNNs achieved high accuracy (correlation coefficient R = 0.84 for modeling set and R = 0.86 for test set) to replace manual leaf‐rolling rating. PWC_uav values were precisely estimated (correlation coefficient R = 0.88) and DRI_uav was modeled to monitor the drought resistance of rice accessions dynamically and comprehensively. A total of 111 significantly associated loci were detected by genome‐wide association study for the three dynamic traits, and 30.6% of them were not detected in previous mapping studies using nondynamic drought response traits.
Unmanned aerial vehicle and deep learning are confirmed effective phenotyping techniques for more complete genetic dissection of rice dynamic responses to drought and exploration of valuable alleles for drought resistance improvement.
