The paper deals with the obstacle-like minimization problem in the cylindrical domain Ω=D×(−l,l)J(u)=∫Ω|∇u|2dx+2∫Dmax{v(x′),0}dx′, where x=(x′,xn), and v(x′)=∫−llu(x′,xn)dxn. The corresponding ...Euler–Lagrange equation is Δu(x′,xn)=χ{v>0}(x′)+−∂xnu(x′,−l)+∂xnu(x′,l)χ{v=0}(x′). Due to the non-local nature of the obstacle, the comparison principle does not hold for the minimizers u(x), which makes the problem challenging both analytically and numerically. The standard optimization techniques such as Newton or quasi-Newton’s methods require approximations of the Jacobians that are four dimensional tensors and are prohibitively expensive both in storage and computational time due to the nature of the three dimensional problem. In this paper, a new algorithm that can compute the global minimum is introduced. Non-trivial exact solutions have been constructed; and second order accuracy has been confirmed. Another important contribution is the numerical testing of the comparison principle for functions v(x′), as conjectured by M. Chipot and the second author in Chipot and Mikayelyan (2022).

Rare earth monosilicate (RE2SiO5) is one of the most promising candidates as an environmental barrier coating (EBC) for SiCf/SiC ceramic matrix composites. But single-component RE2SiO5 is hard to ...meet the multiple and harsh performance requirements of EBC which brings a significant challenge to their applications. Based on our previous research on single-component RE2SiO5 ceramics, (Ho0.4Yb0.3Lu0.3)2SiO5 solid solution was designed and successfully fabricated in this work. Doping of multiple RE elements endows (Ho0.4Yb0.3Lu0.3)2SiO5 with excellent thermal insulation properties and matched thermal expansion coefficient with SiCf/SiC substrates. In addition, it exhibits lower elastic modulus and comparable hardness than that of single-component RE2SiO5. (Ho0.4Yb0.3Lu0.3)2SiO5 also presents good resistance to calcium-magnesium alumino-silicates (CMAS) corrosion. Rational composition design allows (Ho0.4Yb0.3Lu0.3)2SiO5 to retain the merits of single-component RE2SiO5 while taking advantage of the solid solution effect. The results of this work suggest (Ho0.4Yb0.3Lu0.3)2SiO5 as a promising EBC candidate.

Abstract
High functional heterogeneity of cancer cells poses a major challenge for cancer research. Single-cell sequencing technology provides an unprecedented opportunity to decipher diverse ...functional states of cancer cells at single-cell resolution, and cancer scRNA-seq datasets have been largely accumulated. This emphasizes the urgent need to build a dedicated resource to decode the functional states of cancer single cells. Here, we developed CancerSEA (http://biocc.hrbmu.edu.cn/CancerSEA/ or http://202.97.205.69/CancerSEA/), the first dedicated database that aims to comprehensively explore distinct functional states of cancer cells at the single-cell level. CancerSEA portrays a cancer single-cell functional state atlas, involving 14 functional states (including stemness, invasion, metastasis, proliferation, EMT, angiogenesis, apoptosis, cell cycle, differentiation, DNA damage, DNA repair, hypoxia, inflammation and quiescence) of 41 900 cancer single cells from 25 cancer types. It allows querying which functional states are associated with the gene (or gene list) of interest in different cancers. CancerSEA also provides functional state-associated PCG/lncRNA repertoires across all cancers, in specific cancers, and in individual cancer single-cell datasets. In summary, CancerSEA provides a user-friendly interface for comprehensively searching, browsing, visualizing and downloading functional state activity profiles of tens of thousands of cancer single cells and the corresponding PCGs/lncRNAs expression profiles.
The current study aims to explore the connections between business environments and firms׳ competitive priorities, which establish the basis for manufacturing strategy. This study explicitly ...considers the effects of asset and operating frontiers, as well as trade-offs across competitive priorities, a topic which has not been thoroughly studied by prior research. We collected data from 434 Chinese firms and analyzed the data using regression analysis. It was found that the operating frontier is affected by the asset frontier, as well as by environmental forces, such as business costs, competition intensity, and market and institutional dynamism. The operating frontier affects competitive priorities, such as cost, quality, and delivery. The asset frontier exerts direct effects on delivery and flexibility, but indirect effects on cost and quality, through the operating frontier. Environmental factors also exert various effects on the priorities. This analysis suggests that Chinese managers do not consistently follow a specific sequence for improving competitive priorities.

Institutional environments exert significant effects on organizational behavior, structure, strategy, governance, and process. To gain competitive advantage, managers are striving for legitimacy ...while maintaining efficiency. In line with this thinking, we propose the developmental process of institution-driven and legitimacy-embedded efficiency, and emphasize the confluence of legitimacy and efficiency in the context of business marketing. We then highlight several promising directions for further research on the development of institutional theory and its application in business marketing. Finally, we present a brief summary of each paper in this special issue.

This paper investigates conditional configurations for high innovation performance under complex regional environments in China from a configurational perspective. The results indicate that internal ...R&D is neither sufficient nor necessary for high innovation performance while it's an important component of those configurations for high innovation performance. Moreover, there are five configurations for high innovation performance and eight configurations for not‐high innovation performance emergent from complex nonlinear interactions among seven influencing factors of regional innovation. The structures of configurations for high innovation performance differ from those for not‐high innovation performance, revealing an asymmetric view of causality that underpins regional innovation performance.

Coastal South China is frequently exposed to substantial rainfall within fronts-free environments during the presummer rainy season, which recurrently leads to severe disasters due particularly to ...the heavy short-term rainfall (HSR). The present study is motivated to identify the HSR hotspots over coastal South China through 10 notorious episodes of warm-sector heavy rainfall, with emphasis on the mesoscale features linking with the HSR hotspots. These episodes suggest complex rainfall features in the occurrence frequency and intensity. HSR mainly occurs rather over the coastal areas than the windward piedmont farther inland, and contributes over 80% to the rainfall accumulation in the regions of Yangjiang and Shanwei. Mesoscale topographies in both regions play an important role in the presence of HSR hotspots, but in different ways. Convergence perturbation line related to the inland mountains migrates southward, and enhances the preexisting convection along the coast resulted from the differential surface friction between land and ocean as well as small hills, which is the primary cause for the high frequency of HSR in coastal Yangjiang. While concave terrain drives cyclone-like perturbation, modulating the convection activity prior to the presence of HSR over Shanwei region. A cold dome induced by the previous convection dominates the mesovalley, furthering the subsequently convective enhancement at coastal zone. Collectively, both inland mountains and ocean-to-land friction regulate the mesoscale surface processes by governing the convergent wind perturbations and upscale convective growth, responsible for the HSR hotspots over the low-altitude coastal areas.
•Heavy short-term rainfall− dominates the low-lying areas rather than inland windward piedmont over coastal South China.•Heavy short-term rainfall contributes over 80% of the rainfall accumulations in vicinity of the hotspots.•Terrain regulates convergent wind perturbation and convection, leading to heavy short-term rainfall hotspots at low-lying areas.

Skiing plays an important role in the international sports events, especially for 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. During such skiing competition, the communication network is necessary to provide ...the support of data transmission so as to guarantee the real‐time situation feedback regarding athletes. As we know, the skiers make the highly dynamic movement, which cannot be supported by the traditional IP‐based Internet. On the contrary, the future Internet especially Information‐Centric Networking (ICN) paradigm can provide the inherent support of mobility. Therefore, this letter employs ICN framework to catch the information of mobile skiers. Based on this framework, this letter proposes a safety recognition and analysis method, including feature extraction at the user‐side and movement recognition at the server‐side based on neural network. The experiments are made based on the dataset from 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and the results have demonstrated that the novel method is very acceptable. In particular, the proposed scheme has some improvements, that is, 0.575% recall ratio, 0.431% precision ratio and 0.415% F1 value, respectively, compared with the baseline. This future indicates that the proposed method can provide a significant reference for 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The communication between server and user (skier) depends on ICN's communication protocol, i.e., discarding IP address and using content name as the routing index. In addition, the user‐side performs the feature extraction in terms of all skiers' movement information, and the server‐side performs the movement recognition based on neural network.
