After the Paris Climate Conference (Conference of the Paris COP: 21), most developing countries face challenges to attain a sustainable economy and carbon neutrality targets with minimum CO2 ...emission. The next eleven (N-11) economies are in line with the global phenomena of environmental degradation; very few studies have analyzed the effects of green technology innovation on environmental degradation in N-11 countries. Therefore, the present study addresses the gap and examines green technology innovation and renewable energy with CO2 emission from 1980 to 2018. The present study considers all the issues related to panel data analysis, such as cross-sectional dependence, stationarity, heterogeneity in slope parameters, and structural break with advanced panel estimators. Moreover, the cross-sectional augmented autoregressive distributed lags (CS-ARDL) test results show the negative and significant impact of green technology innovation and renewable energy with CO2 emission in the long run. However, the short-run association of green technology innovation is not significant—further, the results endorsed by the robustness tests such as AMG and CCEMG. To reduce environmental deterioration in N-11 countries, governments are suggested implementing some policies to support green innovation technologies and renewable energy resources.

Polyphenols, also known as phenolic compounds, are chemical substances containing aromatic rings as well as at least two hydroxyl groups. Natural phenolic compounds exist widely in plants, which ...protect plants from ultraviolet radiation and other insults. Phenolic compounds have superior pharmacological and nutritional properties (antimicrobial, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-sclerosis, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities), which have been paid more and more attention by the scientific community. Phenols can protect key cellular components from reactive free radical damage, which is mainly due to their property to activate antioxidant enzymes and alleviate oxidative stress and inflammation. It can also inhibit or isolate reactive oxygen species and transfer electrons to free radicals, thereby avoiding cell damage. It has a regulatory role in glucose metabolism, which has a promising prospect in the prevention and intervention of diabetes. It also prevents cardiovascular disease by regulating blood pressure and blood lipids. Polyphenols can inhibit cell proliferation by affecting Erk1/2, CDK, and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways. Polyphenols can function as enhancers of intrinsic defense systems, including superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX). Simultaneously, they can modulate multiple proteins and transcription factors, making them promising candidates in the investigation of anti-cancer medications. This review focuses on multiple aspects of phenolic substances, including their natural origins, production process, disinfection activity, oxidative and anti-inflammatory functions, and the effects of different phenolic substances on tumors.

Though benefits were brought by neoadjuvant chemotherapy, a part of patients lose the chance of surgery because of late detection or inappropriate intervention. Therefore, the treatment of inoperable patients has become an urgent need. At the same time, tumor metabolism is an extremely complex and diverse process. Natural products are confirmed effective to inhibit the development of tumors in vitro and in vitro. There are many kinds of natural products and their functions remain not clear. However, some natural products such as polyphenols have been proven to have definite anti-cancer effects, and some terpenoids have definite anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, anti-tumor, and other effects. Therefore, the anti-tumor characteristics of natural products should arouse our high attention. Although there are many obstacles to study the activities of natural products in tumor, including the difficulty in detection or distinguishing each component due to their low levels in tumor tissue, etc., the emergence of highly sensitive and locatable spatial metabolomics make the research and application of natural products a big step forward. In this review, natural products such as phenols, terpenoids and biotinoids were summarized to further discuss the development and therapeutic properties of natural metabolites on digestive tract tumors.

Mastitis is an inflammatory disease, affects the dairy industry and has a severe economic impact. During subclinical mastitis, milk production and milk quality deteriorates. Recently, rumen microbial ...composition has been linked to rumen health, but few studies have investigated the effect of rumen microbiota on mammary health in cows. This study was undertaken to identify the rumen microbial composition and associated microbial fermentation in cows with different somatic cell counts (SCC), with the speculation that cows with different health statuses of the mammary gland have different rumen bacterial composition and diversity. A total of 319 Holstein dairy cows fed the same diet and under the same management were selected and divided into four groups as SCC1 (
= 175), SCC2 (

= 46) with < 200,000, 200,001-500,000, 500,001-1,000,000, and >1,000,000 somatic cells/mL, respectively. Further, 20 cows with the lowest SCC and 20 cows with the highest SCC were identified. The rumen microbial composition was profiled using 16S rRNA sequencing, along with measurement of rumen fermentation parameters and milking performance. Compared to low SCC, cows with high SCC showed poorer milk yield, milk composition, and rumen volatile fatty acids concentration, but higher rumen bacterial diversity. Pathogenic bacteria infection, especially Clostridium perfringens (C. perfringens), markedly threatened the health of animals, and further caused huge economic loss. In this study, Bacillus ...licheniformis HJ0135 (BL) was used. Oxford cup bacteriostatic test and inhibitory rate test were conducted to evaluate the antibacterial ability of BL. Results showed the strongest inhibitory role of BL on C. perfringens (P < 0.05). Afterwards, 540 one-day-old yellow-feather broilers (32.7 ± 0.2 g) were randomly allocated into 3 groups, including CON group (basal diet), CP group (basal diet + 1 × 109 CFU C. perfringens in gavage), and BL + CP group (basal diet containing 7.5 × 106 CFU/g BL + 1 × 109 CFU C. perfringens in gavage). At d 70, broilers in the CP and BL + CP groups were treated with C. perfringens by continuously oral administration for 5 d. The experiment lasted for 75 d. The serum, immune organs, jejunal mucosa, and cecal contents were collected for analysis. In vivo experiment showed that BL supplementation markedly improved (P < 0.05) BW, ADG, thymus index, serum immunoglobins and antioxidases, reduced feed conversion ratio (FCR) and serum pro-inflammatory cytokines of C. perfringens-infected broilers. Furthermore, the increased jejunal injury and levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines, decreased gene expressions of tight junction proteins in the jejunal mucosa were significantly alleviated (P < 0.05) by BL. More importantly, the activation of NOD-, LRR- and pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome was inhibited (P < 0.05) by BL to further attenuate jejunal damage. Besides, BL supplementation markedly increased (P < 0.05) the cecal isobutyric acid and isovaleric acid. Microbial analysis showed that BL changed the composition and relative abundances of microbiota in the cecal contents (P < 0.05), especially the short chain fatty acids (SCFAs)-producing bacteria including Eubacterium_coprostanoligenes_group, Megamonas, Faecalibacterium, and Lactobacillus, which further protected against C. perfringens-induced jejunal inflammation in broilers. Our study laid a theoretical basis for the application of probiotics in lessening C. perfringens-related diseases in poultry farming.

Purpose
To investigate the surgical prognosis and efficacy of adjuvant therapy in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with occult lymph node metastasis (ONM) defined by positron emission ...tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT).
Methods
A total of 3537 NSCLC patients receiving surgical resection were included in this study. The prognosis between patients with ONM and evident nodal metastasis, ONM patients with and without adjuvant therapy was compared, respectively.
Results
ONM was associated with significantly better prognosis than evident nodal metastasis whether for patients with N1 (5-year OS: 56.8% versus 52.3%, adjusted

value = 0.267; 5-year RFS: 44.7% versus 33.2%, adjusted

value = 0.031) or N2 metastasis (5-year OS: 42.8% versus 32.3%, adjusted

Conclusions
ONM defined by PET/CT identifies a unique clinical subtype of lung cancer, ONM is a favorable prognostic factor whether for pathological N1 or N2 NSCLC and adjuvant therapy could provide additional survival benefits for ONM patients.

N-Myristoyltransferase (NMT) has been validated pre-clinically as a target for treatment of fungal infections. Various substituted thiochroman-4-one derivatives have been synthesized by an efficient ...method. The synthesized compounds 7a–y and 8a–t were evaluated for their in vitro antifungal activity against the Canidia albicans, Cryptococcus neoformans, Epidermophyton floccosum, Mucor racemosus, Microsporum gypseum and Aspergillus nigerstrain. A series of compounds exhibited significant activity (minimal inhibitory concentrotion (MIC)=0.5–16 µg/mL) against Canidia albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans. The antifungal activity of compound 7b was reached to that of fluconazole, which can serve as a good starting point for further studies of structural diversity of the NMT inhibitors. The molecular docking studies revealed an interesting binding profile with very high receptor affinity for NMT of Canidia albicans.

Recent research argues that robots could replace workers in dangerous work environments to reduce occupational injuries. However, robot development and usage in most developing countries remain at an infant stage, robots may increase the likelihood of occupational injuries due to conditions such as limited human capital and defects. By using a city-level dataset based on the Guangdong Province in China, we find that robot application is associated with an increase in the rate of occupational injuries in the first two years, and then exhibits nonsignificant and even negative effects afterwards. We also find that local governments can reduce or even eliminate the effect of robot application on occupational injuries by strengthening safety regulations. In addition, although local governments are keen on pushing robot application and industrial intelligence, the wide application of robots may impose a burden on the public health expenditure of local governments due to occupational injuries. This study extends our knowledge by challenging the traditional view that robot application can reduce the rate of occupational injuries, and also provides suggestions on the safety regulations of developing countries at the early stage of industrial intelligence.

Our aim was to validate and analyze the prognostic impact of the novel International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) Pathology Committee grading system for invasive pulmonary ...adenocarcinomas (IPAs) in Chinese patients and to evaluate its utility in predicting a survival benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT). In this multicenter, retrospective, cohort study, we included 926 Chinese patients with completely resected stage I IPAs and classified them into three groups (Grade 1, n = 119; Grade 2, n = 431; Grade 3, n = 376) according to the new grading system proposed by the IASLC. Recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were estimated by the Kaplan–Meier method, and prognostic factors were assessed using univariable and multivariable Cox proportional hazards models. All included cohorts were well stratified in terms of RFS and OS by the novel grading system. Furthermore, the proposed grading system was found to be independently associated with recurrence and death in the multivariable analysis. Among patients with stage IB IPA (N = 490), the proposed grading system identified patients who could benefit from ACT but who were undergraded by the adenocarcinoma (ADC) classification. The novel grading system not only demonstrated prognostic significance in stage I IPA in a multicenter Chinese cohort but also offered clinical value for directing therapeutic decisions regarding adjuvant chemotherapy.

As the global population continues to grow, competition for resources between humans and livestock has been intensifying. Increasing milk protein production and improving feed efficiency are becoming ...increasingly important to meet the demand for high-quality dairy protein. In a previous study, we found that milk protein yield in dairy cows was associated with the rumen microbiome. The objective of this study was to elucidate the potential microbial features that underpins feed efficiency in dairy cows using metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, and metabolomics.
Comparison of metagenomic and metatranscriptomic data revealed that the latter was a better approach to uncover the associations between rumen microbial functions and host performance. Co-occurrence network analysis of the rumen microbiome revealed differential microbial interaction patterns between the animals with different feed efficiency, with high-efficiency animals having more and stronger associations than low-efficiency animals. In the rumen of high-efficiency animals, Selenomonas and members of the Succinivibrionaceae family positively interacted with each other, functioning as keystone members due to their essential ecological functions and active carbohydrate metabolic functions. At the metabolic level, analysis using random forest machine learning suggested that six ruminal metabolites (all derived from carbohydrates) could be used as metabolic markers that can potentially differentiate efficient and inefficient microbiomes, with an accuracy of prediction of 95.06%.
The results of the current study provided new insights into the new ruminal microbial features associated with feed efficiency in dairy cows, which may improve the ability to select animals for better performance in the dairy industry. The fundamental knowledge will also inform future interventions to improve feed efficiency in dairy cows. Video Abstract.
