Current approaches to the synthesis of aromatic and heteroaromatic azamacrocycles and their derivatives are summarized and systematized. The relationship between the structure of azacrown compounds ...and their complexation behaviour towards metal cations is analyzed. The diversity of practical applications of azamacrocyclic derivatives in medicine, biology and analytical and organic chemistry, as well as for the design of molecular devices is demonstrated. The bibliography includes 307 references.
Shape-controlled LaNiO3 nanoparticles were prepared by modified hydrothermal and precipitation routes resulting in cubes, spheres, and rods. The solid-phase crystallization of LaNiO3 into its active ...catalyst form, Ni/La2O3, was found to be highly dependent on the shape and structure of the parent nanoparticle. Factors such as the crystallization pathway and Ni2+-ion depletion are considered as key factors influencing the final material. Catalysts derived from LaNiO3 spheres and rods were found to be free of carbon accumulation after 100 h of reforming, while those derived from cubes showed excessive carbon accumulation and signs of sintering. All three catalysts are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). The presence of defects, particularly stacking faults within the perovskite, may impact the reduction pathway and subsequent catalytic properties. Stable and active catalysts can therefore be designed and tuned by controlling the shape and structure of perovskite precursors.

Major depressive disorder (MDD) constitutes a major public health problem worldwide and affects women twice as frequently as men. Previous linkage studies have identified a 451 kb region of 2q33-35 ...that exhibited significant evidence of linkage to Mood Disorders among women (but not men) from families with recurrent, early-onset MDD (RE-MDD), a severe and strongly familial subtype of MDD. This 451 kb region includes CREB1, an attractive susceptibility gene for MDD and related disorders. Sequence variations in the CREB1 promoter and intron 8 have been detected that cosegregate with Mood Disorders, or their absence, in women from these families, identifying CREB1 as a sex-limited susceptibility gene for unipolar Mood Disorders. These findings implicate the cAMP signaling pathway in the pathophysiology of Mood Disorders and related conditions.

•High power-ecological characteristics of ethyl esters of fatty acids were determined.•Ethyl esters provide the necessary performance and stability of engine work.•The engine does not require the ...fuel injection system modification.•Ethyl esters characterized by low pollutant emission.
The effect of fatty acid ethyl esters used as biodiesel fuel on power and ecological characteristics of diesel engine work has been studied. It is stated that such ethyl esters produced on the base of rapeseed oil provide the necessary performance of the engine, stability and regularity of engine work as well as the engine does not require the fuel injection system modification. Exhaust gases demonstrate lower CO, CO2, NOx and CH contents in comparison with pollutant emissions of methyl esters and mineral diesel fuel. It has been proved that reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions is due precisely to peculiarities of ethyl esters, but not to the ethanol additives.

Sn-containing PAN films with modifying additive SnCl2 have been fabricated by pyrolysis under the influence of incoherent infrared radiation under low vacuum conditions using different temperature ...and time of heat treatment. AFM-investigation of the films surface morphology has been fulfilled. The technological conditions for the formation process of the sensitive layer material for carbon monoxide sensor have been revealed experimentally.
New azomethine compounds of 2-(
-tosylamino)benzaldehyde or 5-chloro-2-(
-tosylamino)benzaldehyde and the corresponding chlorine-substituted anilines, zinc(II) complexes based on them have been ...synthesized. The structures of azomethines and their complexes were determined by elemental analysis, IR,
H NMR, X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction. It is found that all ZnL
complexes have a tetrahedral structure according to XAFS and X-ray diffraction data. The photoluminescent properties of azomethines and zinc complexes in methylene chloride solution and in solid form have been studied. It is shown that the photoluminescence quantum yields of solid samples of the complexes are an order of magnitude higher compared to the solutions and range from 11.34% to 48.3%. The thermal properties of Zn(II) complexes were determined by thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry. The TGA curves of all the compounds suggest their high thermal stability up to temperatures higher than 290 °C. The electrochemical properties of all complexes were investigated by the cyclic voltammetry method. The multilayered devices ITO/PEDOT:PSS/NPD/Zn complex/ TPBI/LiF/Al with wide electroluminescence (EL) color range spanning the range from bluish-green (494 nm) to green (533 nm) and the high values of brightness, current and power efficiency were fabricated. The biological activity of azomethines and zinc complexes has been studied. In the case of complexes, the protistocidal activity of the zinc complex with azomethine of 5-chloro-2-(
-tosylamino)benzaldehyde with 4-chloroaniline was two times higher than the activity of the reference drug toltrazuril.

Egorova et al discuss their study on a novel pyridine-containing azacrownethers for the chelation of therapeutic bismuth radioisotopes. The materials used in the study includes aqueous solutions, ...reagents, and fetal bovine sterile serum produced by HyClone. Competitive extraction techniques were used which are based on the separation of uncomplexed cations wherein complexed cations remain in aqueous solution.
