Community exercise programs may increase ongoing exercise participation and help people with ...Parkinson’s disease actively participate in their health management. But there is still limited knowledge about these programs regarding their benefits, safety, implications over the long-term, and effective implementation. These questions could hold relevant clinical implications. In this perspective article, we identify the current challenges and reflect upon potential solutions to help community exercise to be implemented as an additional anchor to personalize management models for Parkinson’s disease.
In 2009, the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) convened a select panel of experts to develop an evidence‐based set of guidelines for patients suffering from lifelong premature ...ejaculation (PE). That document reviewed definitions, etiology, impact on the patient and partner, assessment, and pharmacological, psychological, and combined treatments. It concluded by recognizing the continually evolving nature of clinical research and recommended a subsequent guideline review and revision every fourth year. Consistent with that recommendation, the ISSM organized a second multidisciplinary panel of experts in April 2013, which met for 2 days in Bangalore, India. This manuscript updates the previous guidelines and reports on the recommendations of the panel of experts.
The aim of this study was to develop clearly worded, practical, evidenced‐based recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of PE for family practice clinicians as well as sexual medicine experts.
A comprehensive literature review was performed.
This article contains the report of the second ISSM PE Guidelines Committee. It offers a new unified definition of PE and updates the previous treatment recommendations. Brief assessment procedures are delineated, and validated diagnostic and treatment questionnaires are reviewed. Finally, the best practices treatment recommendations are presented to guide clinicians, both familiar and unfamiliar with PE, in facilitating treatment of their patients.
Development of guidelines is an evolutionary process that continually reviews data and incorporates the best new research. We expect that ongoing research will lead to a more complete understanding of the pathophysiology as well as new efficacious and safe treatments for this sexual dysfunction. Examining Mexican, Mexican American, and Anglo Texan narratives as competing representations of the period spanning the Texas Declaration of Independence to the Mexican Revolution, John E. Dean traces the creation and development of border subjects and histories. Dean uses history, historical fiction, postcolonial theory, and U.S.-Mexico border theory to disrupt "official" Euro-American histories.Dean argues that the Texas-Mexico borderlands complicate national, ethnic, and racial differences. He makes this clear in his discussion of the Mexican Revolution, when many Mexican Americans who saw themselves as Mexicans fought for competing revolutionary factions in Mexico, while others who saw themselves as U.S. Americans tried to distance themselves from Mexico altogether.Analyzing literary representations of the border, How Myth Became History emphasizes the heterogeneity of border communities and foregrounds narratives that have often been occluded, such as Mexican-Indio histories. Rapid, sensitive, and selective detection and identification of pathogenic bacteria is required in terms of food security. In this study, exogenous VOCs liberated by Salmonella strains have been ...identified and quantified via head space-solid phase microextraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) in milk samples. The specific enzymes targeted for detection and/or differentiation of Salmonella were C8 esterase, α-galactosidase and pyrrolidonyl peptidase using the following enzyme substrates: 2-chlorophenyl octanoate, phenyl α-d-galactopyranoside and L-pyrrollidonyl fluoroanilide, respectively. Detection of the exogenous VOCs, 2-chlorophenol, phenol and 3-fluoraniline was possible with typical limits of detection of 0.014, 0.045 and 0.005 μg/mL, respectively and correlation coefficients >0.99. The developed methodology was able to detect and identify Salmonella species within a 5 h incubation at 37 °C by the detection of the liberated VOCs. It was found that the milk samples tested were Salmonella free.

The theory and practice of urban governance in recent years has undergone both a collaborative and participatory turn. The strong connection between collaboration and participation has meant that ...citizen participation in urban governance has been conceived in a very particular way: as varying levels of partnership between state actors and citizens. This over-focus on collaboration has led to: 1) a dearth of proposals in theory and practice for citizens to engage oppositionally with institutions; 2) the miscasting of agonistic opportunities for participation as forms of collaboration; 3) an inability to recognise the irruption of agonistic practices into participatory procedures. This article attempts to expand the conception of participatory urban governance by adapting Rosanvallon’s (2008) three democratic counter-powers—prevention, oversight and judgement—to consider options for institutionalising agonistic participatory practices. It argues that these counter-governance processes would more fully realise the inclusion agenda that underpins the participatory governance project.

...The rapid detection of Listeria monocytogenes contamination in food is essential to prevent food-borne illness in humans. The aim of this study was to differentiate non-contaminated milk from milk contaminated with L. monocytogenes using enzyme substrates coupled with the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The method is based on the activity of β-glucosidase and hippuricase enzymes and the detection of a specific VOC i.e. 2-nitrophenol and 3-fluoroaniline, respectively. VOCs were extracted, separated and detected by headspace-solid phase microextraction coupled to gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (HS-SPME GC–MS). This approach required the inclusion of the selective agent's cycloheximide, nalidixic acid and acriflavine HCl in the growth medium to inhibit interfering bacteria. The VOCs were liberated by L. monocytogenes provided that samples contained at least 1–1.5×102CFUml−1 of milk prior to overnight incubation. This approach shows potential for future development as a rapid method for the detection of L. monocytogenes contaminated milk.

; LOQ 0.06 μg mL
). 3-Fluoroaniline was determined at 20 times above its calculated limit of quantification in the sputum samples by HS-SPME-GC-MS and then the results compared with standard culture methods and bacterial identification using MALDI-TOF-MS. Detection of 3-fluoroaniline was possible after only 8 h incubation of the sputum samples with a 95% success rate; this increased to 100% at 24 h which was well within the typical routine timeframe of 48 h. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of detection of
by use of a custom-designed substrate to liberate a detectable and unique VOC. The very high negative predictive value (100% in this study) means such an assay could be appropriate as a screening technique for patients who are not yet colonized by this pathogen.

The goal of this exploration is to observationally test the connection between total quality management and SMEs' performance. Specifically, it looks at whether organizational culture (OC) has an ...interceding impact on the TQM-SMEs performance relationship. Established on the literature review of TQM, OC and SMEs performance, the theoretical model for this investigation was formed. A self-controlled survey was utilized to gather information from the SMEs owners-managers in the South-western region of Nigeria. In determining the relationship, SEM-PLS 3.0 was utilized. Measurable results add to the literature by showing a positive direct impact of TQM and OC on SMEs' performance, and a critical and positive aberrant impact of TQM on SMEs' performance through OC. The quantitative cross-sectional research configuration explored an example of assembling SMEs. Subjective methods or a contextual investigation approach for additional data examination could be utilized for subsequent research. The results of this exploration give awareness into SMEs' owners-managers in the present unique manufacturing setting, concentrating on TQM as an instrument for improving their performance. The outcomes can help SMEs by giving direction with regards to the OC, on account of its impact on the effective execution of TQM, in this way improving the dimension of performance. The examination expands the TQM literature with an extensive comprehension of TQM from the point of view of SMEs in Nigeria. It fills the void in observational examinations that research the joint impact of TQM and OC on SMEs' performance.

The solid-phase speciation of contaminants in soil plays a major role in regulating both the environmental mobility of contaminants and their bioavailability in biological receptors such as humans. ...With the increasing prevalence of urban agriculture, in tandem with growing evidence of the negative health impacts of even low levels of exposure to Pb, there is a pressing need to provide regulators with a relevant evidence base on which to build human health risk assessments and construct sustainable site management plans. We detail how the solid-phase fractionation of Pb from selected urban agricultural soil samples, using sequential extraction, can be utilised to interpret the bioaccessible fraction of Pb and ultimately inform sustainable site management plans. Our sequential extraction data shows that the Pb in our urban soils is primarily associated with Al oxide phases, with the second most important phase associated with either Fe oxyhydroxide or crystalline FeO, and only to a limited extent with Ca carbonates. We interpret the co-presence of a P component with the Al oxide cluster to indicate the soils contain Pb phosphate type minerals, such as plumbogummite (PbAl3(PO4)2(OH)5·H2O), as a consequence of natural “soil aging” processes. The presence of Pb phosphates, in conjunction with our biomonitoring data, which indicates the lack of elevated blood Pb levels in our gardeners compared to their non-gardening neighbours, suggests the (legacy) Pb in these soils has been rendered relatively immobile. This study has given confidence to the local authority regulators, and the gardeners, that these urban gardens can be safe to use, even where soil Pb levels are up to ten times above the UK’s recommended lead screening level. The advice to our urban gardeners, based on our findings, is to carry on gardening but follow recommended good land management and hygiene practices.
