Mixed families, in which one or several of their members are Argentine or Spanish, proliferate on both sides of the Atlantic. It is increasingly frequent that the defendant or his patrimony are in a different State from that in which the maintenance obligation must be fulfill. The difficulties to accede to the collection of this debt cause real problems, not only legal, but, above all, humans, considering that the maintenance obligation may be the only income that the creditor perceives. Some of the questions that may arise in relation to this subject are: a) if the food amount will vary depending on the law applicable; b) the place where the demand can be interpose; c) the possibly of recognizing the judgment in a different country of that in which the sentence has been rendered. To answer to these and other questions Spanish and Argentine rules of private international law on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of judgments are studied. Once analyzed, improvement proposals of the already existing solutions are offered. The objective intended is that these as much facilitate the process of integration of the families, both in Spain and Argentina, which they are useful to prevent conflicts and optimize the contribution of immigration in both societies.

The novels of Spanish author Antonio Muoz Molina generally are characterized as hybrids, inserting non-fictional genres within the frame of a novelistic work. Although Ventanas de Manhattan (2004) is ...presented as a diary or even as a travelling journal, this article argues that the work shows a hybrid generic form. Founded upon a theoretical frame, it establishes the components that lead to the characterization of the work as autofictional. Subsequently this article focuses on the construction of the first-person character as a fictional structure, based on literary archetypes.

Islamic postcolonialism is a theoretical perspective that combines two components which have up until now existed in a state of tension. As a secular theory, postcolonialism has notably failed to ...account for Muslim priorities; it has, for instance, had severe problems critiquing the anti-Islam polemics of The Satanic Verses, as is evidenced by Edward Said's support for Rushdie, in spite of his criticism of the stereotypical representation of Islam and Muslims in the West. Islamic postcolonialism applies the anti-colonial resistant methodology of postcolonialism from a Muslim perspective, exploring the continuance of colonial discourse in part of the contemporary western writing about Islam and Muslims. This book explores how Islam is depicted and Muslim identities are constructed in four representative works of contemporary British fiction: Hanif Kureishi's The Black Album (1995), Monica Ali's Brick Lane (2003), Fadia Faqir's My Name is Salma (2007), and Leila Aboulela's Minaret (2005). Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses (1988) is also discussed in terms of its crucial role in fostering what some Muslims might consider polemical and stereotypical positions in writing about Islam.

Ruth Ozeki's A Tale for the Time Being (2013) responds to the radical global interconnectedness of today's world. I coin the term "minor cosmopolitics" and explain its indebtedness to as well as ...differentiation from "minority cosmopolitism" and "minor transnationalism" to explore the world-making potentials of minoritized individuals and the minor dimension of cosmopolitics in this novel. If we look at the relationship between the novel's two protagonists, Ruth and Nao, as that between a reader and a writer, we see how energy and matter on a small scale, in particular the energy and matter embedded in the words used in literary writing and reading, can actively engage with a scale as large as the world. Specifically, A Tale for the Time Being draws on quantum mechanics as a trope and sees words as quantum particles that illuminate the plasticity and multiplicity of space and time. Instead of aiming at a position of transcendence over the world, the novel tests out the possibilities of delivering, through words, worlds out of historical ignorance and amnesia, based on the quantum rules of randomness and undecidability.
