In this paper, a new receiver design based on basis expansion model (BEM) orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) is presented for high-mobility communications with Doppler-spread channel. By deriving ...an analytical BEM OTFS system model, a low-order generalized complex exponential BEM (GCE-BEM) aided rough channel estimation is proposed at the initial stage with low pilot overhead, followed by equalization. Then, the refinement of channel estimation and equalization is conducted iteratively, in which a high-resolution GCE-BEM model with a large BEM order is adopted and the detected data symbols are exploited as pseudo-pilots, leading to higher estimation accuracy. Simulation results show that the proposed BEM OTFS receiver significantly outperforms the existing OTFS receivers in terms of the mean square error (MSE) of channel estimation and bit error rate (BER), while featuring low pilot overhead. Results also show the near-optimal performance of the novel solution, i.e. , achieved BER is very close to the case of perfect channel estimation. The theoretical lower bound on MSE of channel estimation is derived to verify the effectiveness of the proposed BEM OTFS receiver, which is shown to be close to simulation results.
The main objective of this review is to summarize and thoroughly investigate the most popular and promising BIM (building information modeling) and BEM (building energy modeling) interoperability ...strategies employed in the last years (2004–2023), highlighting pros and cons of each strategy and trying to understand the reason for the still limited BIM–BEM interaction. This review summarizes the main countries, areas, modeling tools, and interoperability strategies, with the advantages and disadvantages of each one. The methodology is based on the PRISMA protocol, and two databases were used for the research: Scopus and Google Scholar. A total of 532 publications were selected and 100 papers were deemed useful for the purposes of this review. The main findings led to the identification of four different interoperability strategies between BIM and BEM tools: (1) real-time connection; (2) standardized exchange formats and middleware corrective tools; (3) adherence to model view definitions; (4) proprietary tool-chain. These strategies were found to be characterized by different degrees of complexity, time required for information exchange, proprietary or opensource software, ability to reduce information loss, and detailed energy results. The results of this study showed that, to date, there is no better interoperability strategy, and that further efforts are needed so that interoperability between the two tools can become commonplace.

Up to now, the isogeometric boundary element method (IGBEM) has been widely applied in different fields, and the solved problems are basically independent of time. But an excellent numerical method ...is more than that, so it is necessary to explore a new IGBEM which can solve time-domain problems. Based on this, the isogeometric dual reciprocity boundary element method (IG-DRBEM) is proposed to solve transient heat transfer problems with heat sources. The introduction of the dual reciprocal method enables the IGBEM to solve the transient heat transfer problem conveniently. At the same time, it does not need to divide elements within the domain, which maintains the advantage of the IGBEM. First, the boundary domain integral equation is established by the weighted residual method and the field variables are discretized by NURBS basis functions. Then, the domain integral in the integral equation is transformed into the boundary by the classical dual reciprocity method. Finally, the standard first-order ordinary differential equations are formed. In order to examine the accuracy of the proposed method, several typical numerical examples are discussed carefully. The presented method can provide a new idea for solving time-dependent problems by IGBEM.

A suinocultura desempenha um papel crucial tanto no âmbito econômico quanto social, impulsionando o mercado e gerando empregos significativos. O bem-estar animal é uma questão cada vez mais relevante ...no contexto da produção animal, e nesse sentido, a publicação da Instrução Normativa Nº 113 em 16 de dezembro de 2020 representa um marco importante para a promoção do bem-estar na indústria suinícola. Este trabalho teve como objetivo realizar uma revisão de literatura sobre a Normativa Nº 113, destacando seus principais pontos e seu impacto no setor suinícola. A pesquisa foi baseada em pesquisas aplicadas com uma abordagem descritiva, incluindo revisões de literatura de cunho qualitativo. Além disso, foram revisados trabalhos relacionados aos temas abordados na normativa, como alojamento, instalações e equipamentos, manejo e relação humano-animal, e enriquecimento ambiental. A seleção dos trabalhos se concentrou em estudos publicados recentemente, abrangendo o período de 2010 a 2022. É evidente que o bem-estar animal é uma questão que requer contínua atenção e aprimoramento nos setores produtivos, incluindo a suinocultura. A Normativa Nº 113 desempenha um papel fundamental ao estabelecer diretrizes que visam melhorar as condições de criação e promover o bem-estar dos suínos. A capacitação e treinamento adequados dos profissionais envolvidos na indústria suinícola são aspectos cruciais para garantir a implementação eficaz dessas diretrizes, contribuindo assim para uma produção mais ética e de qualidade.

O estresse percebido afeta diretamente a sensação de bem-estar e sabe-se que o trabalho é uma das principais fontes de estresse. Neste artigo, objetivou-se analisar a percepção de estresse e ...bem-estar entre trabalhadores da cidade de Franca (SP) em comparação com o restante do Brasil. Participaram 291 trabalhadores, sendo 110 de Franca (Grupo Franca – GF) e 181 do restante do Brasil (Grupo Brasil – GB). Do total amostral, a maioria foi de mulheres (67,4%) em idade economicamente ativa (75,6%), sem filhos (52,92%), com ensino superior ou pós-graduação (74%), trabalhando em comércio e serviços (61,5%) e em regime celetista (55%). Os participantes responderam, on-line, a dois instrumentos para avaliar a percepção de estresse e bem-estar. Utilizou-se o teste t e correlação de Pearson para análises das variáveis estudadas. Observou-se que o bem-estar indica significativa (p ≤ 0,001) correlação negativa com a percepção de estresse na amostra como um todo (GF r = -0,40 e GB r = -0,50) e, apesar de não terem sido identificadas diferenças significativas entre os grupos, a cidade de Franca não apresentou correlação significativa com os fatores estressores relativos à carga e ao ambiente de trabalho. Todos os demais fatores estressores (financeiro, social, cognições, família, saúde e relaxamento) apresentaram correlações maiores no GB do que no GF. Os dados sugerem que, apesar de o estresse afetar diretamente a sensação de bem-estar, a vivência fora dos grandes centros urbanos, em cidades menores, parece proporcionar uma relação mais adequada com o trabalho.
The paper introduces a novel method for simulating acoustic–shell interaction subject to seabed reflection. The vibration of thin-shell structure is analyzed using the finite element method (FEM) ...with Kirchhoff–Love shell elements. Exterior acoustic fields associated with seabed reflection is simulated by the boundary element method (BEM) with half-space fundamental solutions. Then the FEM and BEM are coupled to simulate interaction between acoustics wave and shell vibration in the context of isogeometric analysis. Finally, fast multipole method is formulated for the coupled system to accelerate computation and reduce memory storage. Numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the accuracy of the algorithm.

In this study, a novel optimization technique called the Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm based on Blade Element Momentum Theory (ABC-BEM) was developed and applied for the first time to design a small-scale wind turbine blade. Using the ABC-BEM, the aerodynamic geometry of a 1 kW small-scale wind turbine blade was optimized in terms of optimal chord length and twist angle distributions. The objective function used in the optimization study was the power coefficient, and the design parameters were the tip speed ratio, nominal wind speed, and the diameter of the rotor. Both experimental and numerical methods were used to investigate the aerodynamic performance of the optimized blades. Aerodynamic lift and drag coefficients were obtained experimentally for different low Reynolds numbers and angles of attack in a wind tunnel, while numerical simulations were conducted using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) with the Transition k-kL-ω transition model. A flow visualization technique known as a smoke-wire test was carried out to analyze the flow patterns on the blades. The study resulted that the new turbine designs were more successful than the reference turbine in terms of power output. The reference turbine produced 1 kW at a wind speed of 11 m/s, while the new designs produced the same power at 9 m/s. Additionally, the reference turbine reached a maximum power of 1.2 kW at 13 m/s, while the new designs reached a maximum power of 1.46 kW at 10 m/s. These results indicated the success of the Novel ABC-BEM algorithm in optimizing the aerodynamic performance of small-scale turbine blades. This study provided an innovative approach to wind turbine design optimization and a new insight into wind turbine design.

Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar a intensidade do estado de flow no trabalho na percepção dos contadores que atuam em empresas de serviços contábeis. A pesquisa, de natureza descritiva, teve ...abordagem quantitativa, sendo aplicado um questionário de autopreenchimento com base no modelo de Freitas, Damásio, Haddad e Koller (2019) que destaca o estado de flow no trabalho em três dimensões: prazer no trabalho, motivação intrínseca e absorção. Os respondentes foram 154 contadores de empresas de serviços contábeis de Itajaí (Santa Catarina). Os indicadores foram validados por meio da Análise Fatorial Exploratória e se utilizou estatística descritiva para verificar a intensidade das dimensões. Os resultados mostraram que a dimensão do estado de flow no trabalho que apresentou alto grau de intensidade foi o prazer no trabalho, seguida pela motivação intrínseca no trabalho e a absorção, as quais alcançaram um grau médio. Desta forma, ficou evidenciado que os contadores analisados, ao desempenharem suas tarefas, entram em estado de flow, com ênfase no prazer no trabalho, especialmente na asseveração “eu faço meu trabalho com muito prazer”. Empiricamente, o conhecimento do estado de flow poderá contribuir para que as práticas de gestão sejam conduzidas de modo a promover o bem-estar, e com isso aumentar o engajamento e a forma de vivenciar o trabalho. Teoricamente, os resultados contribuem para a ampliação dos estudos na área do comportamento organizacional.
