Um 1890 ging mit der Entwicklung von Alpinismus und Tourismus der Bau von Unterkunften fur die Liebhaber der Bergwelten Sudtirols und seiner Nachbarregionen einher. In entlegenen ...Hochgebirgslandschaften entstanden Berghotels, die sich in den regionalen Kontext einfugten, zugleich aber auch Symbole politischer und wirtschaftlicher Raumbeanspruchung ihrer Erbauer darstellten. Die Architekturproduktion der Berghotels erfolgte auf der Basis innovativer Entwurfsmethoden in Serie oder mit einem Modulprogramm. Die Autorin untersucht die Genese des Bautyps vor dem Hintergrund des internationalen Hotelbaus: von der Entwurfspraxis uber die kunstlerische Interpretation von Leitideen bis zur Innenraumgestaltung - ausgehend von der Pramisse, dass das Hotel eine Synthese von Klinik, Wagons-Lits und Maschine" ist (J. This action research (AR) study concerns an English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) course taught to undergraduate economics students at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, a trilingual ...university in Italy whose degree programmes are taught in German, Italian and English. Despite English for Specific Purposes being an approach to address learner needs, no accurate needs analysis had been conducted. Therefore this study instituted a wide-ranging needs analysis and from the data collected a new learner-centred syllabus was developed for the ESAP course that blended elements from both a product and process approach to syllabus design using classroom negotiation to foster productive skills. Im Rahmen einer empirischen Studie in Kooperation zwischen der Freien Universität Bozen und der ...Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig wurden drei Unterrichtseinheiten videographiert und inklusive Qualitäten des Musikunterrichts mit Hilfe von hoch und niedrig inferenten qualitativen Forschungsverfahren herausgearbeitet. The purpose of this essay is threefold. Firstly, it attempts to introduce the diplomatic and collecting careers of the Austro-Hungarian diplomat Baron Albert Eperjesy (1848–1916), who was the highest ...representative of his country in numerous European capitals and –between 1895 and 1901– Tehran. Secondly, an attempt will be made to contextualise his collecting habits by drawing attention to the peculiarities of Austro-Hungarian collector diplomats. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Persian element of this collection will be discussed within the previously outlined framework, namely, what artworks it did include, how and where he obtained them, and what would be their subsequent fate.

A small collection of certificates of Marian sodalities from Austria and South Germany is preserved in the Archives of the Austrian Jesuit Province. These engraved documents were mainly used by ...wandering fellow guild members as passports. They complemented customary guild documents, as they testified to the reliable confessional character of their holder. Though the certificates preserved in Vienna were mostly issued and sealed only in the second half of the 18th century, research has shown that the copperplate matrices that were used are significantly older, partly going back to the third quarter of the 17th century. In an iconographic sense they are rich sources because they show city views and frequently interiors, altars, and liturgical furnishings that no longer exist. The certificates served not only their owners, but also as a pictorial representation of their place of origin and of the actual congregation.

The numerous vibrant contributions present a fully-fledged system of inferiorization, characterised by labour exploitation, housing discomfort, meagre rights and control strategies, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to a sharp worsening of the health, work, housing and administrative conditions. A framework that has found opposition in the daily resistance and in the struggles of asylum seekers.

The present volume presents the results of a four-semester Euregio teaching research project of the Universities of Innsbruck and Bolzano, which ethnographically focused on the everyday working and ...living conditions of so-called migrants in South Tyrol. The contributions paint a multifaceted picture of the structural difficulties, disadvantages and disabilities that migrants face. In dealing with the surrounding legal conditions and an ethnically and sexually segmented labor market, the volume's contributions ask about biographical breaks and upheavals. At the same time, the case histories show which creative forces, self-empowerment and resistance potentials are developing social actors and how they play an active role in South Tyrolean society.
Der vorliegende Band präsentiert die Ergebnisse eines viersemestrigen Euregio-Lehrforschungsprojektes der Universitäten Innsbruck und Bozen, das die alltäglichen Arbeits- und Lebensbedingungen von sogenannten Migrant_innen in Südtirol ethnographisch in den Blick nahm. Die Beiträge zeichnen ein facettenreiches Bild der strukturellen Schwierigkeiten, Benachteiligungen und Behinderungen, mit denen Migrant_innen konfrontiert sind. Im Umgang mit den sie umgebenden rechtlichen Bedingungen und einem ethnisch und geschlechtlich segmentierten Arbeitsmarkt fragen die Beiträge des Bandes nach biographischen Brüchen und Verwerfungen. Zugleich zeigen die Fallgeschichten auf, welche kreativen Kräfte, Selbstermächtigungs- und Widerstandspotenziale die sozialen Akteur_innen entwickeln und wie sie eine aktive Rolle in der Südtiroler Gesellschaft einnehmen.
