The paper aims to identify the possibility of positioning the profession of forensic accountant in the financial sector of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (hereinafter FBiH). To answer the ...question of how the profession of forensic accountant could be introduced into the financial sector, qualitative research was conducted using the method of interviews with respondents who have many years of experience in the financial sector of FBiH.
Climate change is recognized as a global threat that negatively impacts biodiversity and forest resources. The use of existing indicators for sustainable forest management (SFM) related to ...biodiversity and climate change, as well as the development of new indicators, will help assess how forest management practices impact biodiversity enhancement and climate change mitigation. A Pan-European set of criteria and indicators has been developed as a policy instrument for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on the progress in implementing SFM. In Bosnia and Herzegovina and Western Balkans in general, the Pan-European set of criteria and indicators is an insufficiently researched topic and there is a lack of scientific research conducted regarding their development and implementation. Through the analysis of the current situation in forestry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH), regarding the compliance and importance of the Pan-European criteria for SFM, this paper aims to explain how the international process of development and application of the Pan-European criteria for SFM can contribute to the improvement of the situation in forestry and the creation of a consistent forest policy in FBiH. The survey among forestry professionals (n=360), from the public forest administration and public forest companies in FBiH, included the sets of questions related to socio-demographic characteristics, assessment of compliance and importance of six criteria of SFM. Research results revealed that forestry professionals are mainly males, on average 41 years old, with 13 years of working experience. The majority of forestry professionals in FBiH are not familiar with Pan-European criteria for SFM, and have a low level of their understanding. On average, forestry professionals indicated that the Pan-European criteria for SFM were of high importance, while compliance with current forest management activities were rated lower on average. The large differences between responses regarding the average rating of compliance and importance of the Pan-European criteria for SFM indicate their low level of implementation in FBiH forest management activities. Accordingly, the results indicate that there is a need to organize educational lifelong learning programs in FBiH forestry sector, involving forestry professionals and other interested parties, to generate knowledge related to the Pan-European criteria for SFM and the concept of SFM in general.
According to the WHO (2019), more than 1.5 billion people worldwide are infected with soil-transmitted parasites. Previous research in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FB&H) was mainly ...conducted in the area of the Sarajevo Canton. Therefore, the aim of the research was to explore contamination of soil and vegetation with developmental forms of parasites in the other cantons of FB&H.
Between Apr and Oct 2018, a total of 1,618 soil and vegetation samples were taken from 386 different locations in the 9 cantons of the FB&H.
Positive samples were observed, 65/66 (98.48%) municipalities/cities and on 239/386 (61.92%) locations. Out of 1,618 samples taken in total (1,263 soil samples and 355 vegetation samples), 357 (22.06%) were positive, out of which 337 (26.68%) and 20 (5.63%) were soil and plant samples, respectively. In total, the following adult and developmental forms were identified: Taeniidae eggs (7.30%),
spp. eggs (62.08%), Ancylostomatidae eggs (25.00%),
spp. eggs (9.55%),
spp. eggs (3.37%),
eggs (1.40%), Nematodes larvae (19.38%),
cysts (5.06%),
spp. oocysts (1.4%), oocysts and cysts of different species of Protozoa (3.93%).
The identified developmental forms of parasites pose a permanent threat to human health. It is necessary to carry out measures to reduce the contamination of soil and vegetation in coordination with systematic solutions (legislation), paralelly with contribution of animal owners, veterinarians, physicians, ecologists, parents and all the others involved in this issue.

Modern technologies enable the presentation of diverse movable and immovable cultural heritage objects in a digital environment in new and creative ways, which at the international level has resulted ...in the development of numerous and diverse digital collections created by information and other institutions. Since the visibility of such collections in the virtual environment depends on the wealth of metadata assigned to the sources in the collections, as expected, these initiatives were accompanied by development in the metadata domain. In this regard, and considering that the role of metadata in the presentation of turbe as very specific objects of the immovable cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the online environment has not been examined so far, the goal of this research is to identify which metadata standards or their combinations can be used for the description of turbe in Omeka Classic environment, and consequently to create a collection of the selected corpus of turbe, available in open access, whereby the corpus of research refers to turbe (türbe/tomb) that are named as national monuments in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The results of the research indicate that within the workspace of the Omeka Classic web publishing platform by using the predefined Dublin Core and VRA Core metadata fields in combination, the basic needs of corpus description can be met in a clear, uniform, and informative way, but in this regard, indications of the future development of the collection in the context of its semantic enrichment are also provided.
U radu se prikazuju neka stajališta o stanju radne snage u šumarstvu Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine (FBiH). Rezultati su dobiveni na temelju ispitivanja šumarskih stručnjaka i šumskih radnika vezano ...uz ocjenu glavnih obilježja i položaja radne snage u šumarstvu FBiH, zatim njihova stajališta o pitanju nedostatka šumskih radnika, promišljanja o mogućnostima i načinima snažnijega regrutiranja i zadržavanja radnika u šumarstvu te osiguranja veće predanosti šumskih radnika njihovu poslu. Istraživanje je provedeno u trima županijama FBiH (Hercegbosanska, Srednjobosanska, Unsko-sanska), a uzorkom ispitanika (N = 184) obuhvatilo je tri razine – osobnu (šumski radnici), razinu poduzeća (šumarske tvrtke) te institucionalnu (šumarska uprava). Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju prosječnu dob šumskih radnika od 44 godine te veliku većinu ispitanika (96 %) koji nedostatak radne snage smatraju vrlo izraženim i sve više rastućim problemom u šumarstvu FBiH. Odlazak radno sposobnoga stanovništva izvan FBiH za 93 % ispitanika glavni je razlog nedostatka šumskih radnika. S obzirom na to da je riječ o vrlo složenom problemu, održivost kvalitetne radne snage u šumarstvu FBiH pitanje je koje traži sustavan pristup i aktivno sudjelovanje svih uključenih dionika, u prvom redu državnih i obrazovnih institucija, šumarskih poduzeća, sindikata i ostalih važnih interesnih skupina. Rezultati ovoga istraživanja mogu pridonijeti definiranju polazišta značajnih u iznalaženju učinkovitih strategija regrutiranja i zadržavanja šumskih radnika te postizanju održive radne snage u šumarstvu FBiH.
The Forestry of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FB&H) undoubtedly faces the problem of forest labour force shortage, i.e. the challenge of ensuring a quality and sustainable workforce in forestry. The paper presents the findings of the survey of forestry experts and workers related to the assessment of the main characteristics and the current state of the forestry workforce in FB&H, their views on the shortage of forest workers, thoughts on opportunities and ways to recruit and retain workers in forestry, and ensure greater employees commitment to their work. The research was conducted in three cantons of
FB&H (Hercegbosanska, Srednjobosanska, Unsko-sanska), and through the sample of respondents, it included three levels – personal (forest workers), company level (forest companies) and institutional (forestry administration). The results of the research indicate an average age of forest workers of 44 years and the vast majority of respondents (96%) who consider labor shortage to be a particularly pronounced and growing problem in FB&H forestry. The departure of the working age population outside the FB&H is cited by 93% of respondents as the main reason for the lack of forest workers. A more attractive starting salary, higher regular salaries with a guaranteed increase with years of
service and other factors such as benefited work experience, social and
other rights related to better working conditions are considered to be the most important factors for attracting new, young workers to forestry. About 94% of respondents believe that a training center for forest workers should be established to improve the situation in B&H. Over 90% of respondents consider the payment of salaries according to the achieved effects and rewarding according to results necessary for retaining the workforce in forestry and ensuring greater commitment of workers to their work. Equally important are other social rights of workers and a generally positive atmosphere in terms of employers making and implementing business decisions and policies. Given
that this is a very complex problem, the sustainability of a quality workforce in FB&H forestry is an issue that requires a systematic approach and active participation of all stakeholders, primarily state and educational institutions, forest companies, unions and other interested parties. The results of this research can contribute to defining starting points important in finding effective strategies for attracting and retaining forest workers and providing a sustainable workforce in FB&H forestry.
: Patient satisfaction with health care can influence health care-seeking behavior in relation to both minor or major health problems or influence communication and compliance with medical advice, ...which is especially important in emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, it is important to continually monitor patient satisfaction with provided care and their dynamics. The aim of this study was to assess patient satisfaction with health care during the COVID-19 pandemic in the adult population of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FB&H) and compare it with levels of satisfaction in the same population before the COVID-19 pandemic.
: A representative, population-based survey was implemented in the adult population of the FB&H using the EUROPEP instrument, which measures satisfaction with health care using 23 items. The sample included 740 respondents who were 18 years or older residing in the FB&H and was implemented in December 2020. All data were collected using a system of online panels. The survey questions targeted the nine months from the beginning of the pandemic to the time of data collection, i.e., the period of March to December 2020.
: The mean composite satisfaction score across all 23 items of the EUROPEP tool was 3.2 points in all age groups; the ceiling effect was 22% for the youngest respondents (18-34 years old), 23% for 35-54 years old, and 26% for the oldest group (55+), showing increasing satisfaction by age. The overall composite score for both females and males was 3.2. The ceiling effect was higher in those with chronic disease (29% vs. 23% in those without chronic disease). The composite mean score for respondents residing in rural vs. urban areas was 3.2 with a ceiling effect of 22% in rural and 24% in urban residents. When comparing mean composite scores surveyed at various points in time in the FB&H, it was found that the score increased from 3.3 to 3.5 between 2011 and 2017 and dropped again to 3.3 in this study. Despite these observations in the overall trends of satisfaction scores, we note that no statistically significant differences were observed between most of the single-item scores in the stratified analysis, pointing to the relative uniformity of satisfaction among the analyzed population subgroups.
The rate of satisfaction with health care services in the FB&H was lower during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to 2011 and 2017. Furthermore, while an increasing trend in satisfaction with health care was observed in the FB&H during the years prior to 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic may have contributed to the reversal of this trend. It is important to further monitor the dynamics of patient satisfaction with health care, which could serve as a basis for planning, delivering, and maintaining quality services during the COVID-19 pandemic and other emergencies.
Globalna pandemija prouzrokovana virusom COVID-19 bitno je utjecala na poslovanje u visokoškolskim bibliotekama u cijelom svijetu, a cilj ovoga istraživanja je utvrditi kako su javne visokoškolske ...biblioteke u Federaciji Bosne i Hercegovine prilagodile i/ili redefinirale svoje bibliotečko-informacijske usluge pandemijskim okolnostima rada. Za potrebe prikupljanja takvih podataka, anketirani su samo bibliotekari/ke onih javnih visokoškolskih biblioteka koje imaju kontakt (e-mail) na web stranici fakulteta / akademije / univerziteta, a samo istraživanje, koje je kvantitativne prirode, realizirano je korištenjem posebno kreiranog anketnog upitnika, upotrebom Google Forms, u junu 2021. godine. Od ukupno 47 mapiranih biblioteka, 26 biblioteka je sudjelovalo u ispunjavanju ankete (ukupno 55,3%). U ovom istraživačkom radu, koji je prvi ove vrste u Federaciji Bosne i Hercegovine, donose se pristupi visokoškolskih biblioteka koje, za razliku od visokoškolskih biblioteka iz razvijenih evropskih zemalja, djeluju u vrlo specifičnim uslovima koje, prije svega, karakteriziraju ograničeni i nedovoljni budžeti za nabavku građe, ali i nedostatak osnovne IT opreme. Rezultati pokazuju da su uprkos zatečenim, često neodgovarajućim elementarnim uslovima rada, visokoškolski bibliotekari ulagali izvjesne napore orijentirane ka zadovoljenju informacijskih potreba korisnika tokom svjetske zdravstvene krize, ali i da je pandemija naglasila hitnu potrebu digitalne transformacije istraživanjem obuhvaćenih visokoškolskih biblioteka. = The global pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has significantly affected library processes and procedures in academic libraries worldwide, and the aim of this study is to determine how public academic libraries in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FB&H) have adapted and/or redefined their library and information services to pandemic circumstances. Analysis of the consumption of wood energy from wood-based fuels in households in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the main purpose of this paper. A survey on wood fuel consumption was ...first conducted using the Wood fuel Integrated Supply/Demand Overview Mapping (WISDOM) methodology of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN). These results were compared to the results published by official statistics. The survey was conducted in ten cantons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely in 5,475 households, 2,669 urban and 2,806 other households. The results of the research showed that wood fuels were used in 516,334 or 71.59% of the total number of households. Firewood was used in 497,139 households or in 96.28% in relation to the total number of households in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina that used wood fuels. The surrounding countries showed similar trends. The estimated consumption of firewood in households using the WISDOM methodology is 4.10 (when compared to the official statistical data on total felled timber in and outside public and private forests) to 4.93 times higher than the official statistical data (when compared to the official statistical data on the sale of firewood in state forests), i.e. 4.52 times higher in average. This research indicates the need to apply a new methodological approach for the collection and analysis of data on the consumption of wood fuels in households for energy purposes. Some of the shortcomings of the existing official statistics are the neglect of statistically unregistered production of firewood from private forests and from areas not categorized as forests and forest land, as well as incomplete coverage in terms of conducting a survey on consumption of all categories of wood fuels and all major consumer categories. All the aforementioned, in addition to the economic consequences, has a negative impact on the fulfilment of commitments arising from international agreements in terms of the share of energy from renewable sources and greenhouse gas emissions in total energy consumption in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, incomplete knowledge of the realistic supply and consumption of wood fuels can affect the reliability of planning documents in forestry, with many negative consequences for sustainability of a complex forest ecosystem.
In response to the significant public health threat caused by coronavirus disease (COVID-19), real-time surveillance, containment, and mitigation measures were implemented in the Federation of Bosnia ...and Herzegovina (FBiH). Our objective was to describe the surveillance methodology, response measures, and epidemiology of COVID-19 cases in FBiH from March 2020 to March 2022. The surveillance system implemented across FBiH enabled health authorities and the population to monitor the development of the epidemiological situation, the daily number of reported cases, as well as basic epidemiological characteristics and geographic distribution of cases. As of 31 March 2022, 249,495 cases of COVID-19, and a total of 8,845 deaths were recorded in FBiH. Upkeeping of real-time surveillance, maintaining non-pharmaceutical interventions, and speeding up the vaccination roll-out were paramount for controlling COVID-19 in FBiH.
