Next to the legacy frequency division multiple access (FDMA) signals in the L1 and L2 band, modernized GLONASS satellites of the M+, K1, and K2 generation also transmit new code division multiple ...access (CDMA) signals on L3, and, in part, the L1 and L2 frequencies. Depending on the specific satellite platform, either a common antenna or two distinct antennas are used for the individual signals. As a novel feature, the new CDMA navigation messages provide information on the antenna phase center locations as well as the spacecraft orientation during rate-limited noon and midnight turns. We establish a comprehensive set of phase center positions for the individual GLONASS antennas from manufacturer data and information in the CDMA navigation messages, inferred from the comparison of FDMA and CDMA broadcast ephemerides, and obtained from antenna baseline estimates using a triple-frequency carrier phase combination. Based on these, reference values for the signal-specific PCOs of each block of modernized GLONASS spacecraft are derived that may be used to extend the current antenna model of the International GNSS Service (IGS) to all frequency bands. Complementary to the analysis of antenna phase center information, the new CDMA attitude model for GLONASS-K satellites is reviewed. Algorithms for computing relevant parameters of the rate-limited yaw slews including the ramp-up and -down phase based on the Sun/orbit geometry are derived that enable a concise attitude modeling in GLONASS orbit determination and precise point positioning. The model is validated through comparison with yaw angle estimates derived from triple-frequency observations showing consistency at the 1° level for the K2 satellite. On the other hand, unexpected accelerations during noon turns of GLONASS-M+ are identified, which may cause short-term yaw angle deviations of up to 20° relative to attitude models in common use within the IGS.

Although Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) positioning can achieve high accuracy in line-of-sight conditions, multipath remains a dominant source of error. Multipath occurs when the ...reflected signals reach the receiver in addition to the direct ones. Different systems design can impact the multipath effect, such as the signal modulation and chipping rate. In the context of multifrequency and multi-constellation scenario that we are achieving with four operational global constellations, this paper compares the multipath impact in different signals of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou. For the experiment, one week of data from 35 Brazilian Network for Continuous Monitoring of the GNSS Systems (RBMC) stations in June 2021 was processed. The multipath index was estimated based on the code- inus-carrier combination. For the first frequency of each system, similar results were obtained for GPS, GLONASS and BeiDou (approximately 56 cm). The Galileo BOC/AltBOC modulation offers better resistance to multipath, with a multipath index of 37 cm for E1 and of 12 cm for E5. Considering all selected stations, the multipath index of GPS L1 varied from 38 cm to 61 cm.
Dual-frequency Global Positioning System (GPS) Real-time Kinematics (RTK) has been proven in the past few years to be a reliable and efficient technique to obtain high accuracy positioning. However, ...there are still challenges for GPS single-frequency RTK, such as low reliability and ambiguity resolution (AR) success rate, especially in kinematic environments. Recently, multi-Global Navigation Satellite System (multi-GNSS) has been applied to enhance the RTK performance in terms of availability and reliability of AR. In order to further enhance the multi-GNSS single-frequency RTK performance in terms of reliability, continuity and accuracy, a low-cost micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) inertial measurement unit (IMU) is adopted in this contribution. We tightly integrate the single-frequency GPS/BeiDou/GLONASS and MEMS-IMU through the extended Kalman filter (EKF), which directly fuses the ambiguity-fixed double-differenced (DD) carrier phase observables and IMU data. A field vehicular test was carried out to evaluate the impacts of the multi-GNSS and IMU on the AR and positioning performance in different system configurations. Test results indicate that the empirical success rate of single-epoch AR for the tightly-coupled single-frequency multi-GNSS RTK/INS integration is over 99% even at an elevation cut-off angle of 40°, and the corresponding position time series is much more stable in comparison with the GPS solution. Besides, GNSS outage simulations show that continuous positioning with certain accuracy is possible due to the INS bridging capability when GNSS positioning is not available.

Ocean Tide Loading Displacement (OTLD) parameters, derived by Global Positioning System (GPS) approach, need more time to converge to a stable state and show poor precision of K1 and K2 constituents. ...Combining multi-system Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) data can greatly improve the positioning accuracy and significantly reduce the convergence time compared to single GPS PPP, combined GPS+GLONASS with ambiguity resolved in kinematic Precise Point Positioning (PPP) is improved on the basis of the algorithm of GPS kinematic PPP. We collected eight years of continuous observations of 11 worldwide sites from International GNSS Service to generate three dimensional OTLD parameters of eight constituents using GPS with ambiguity fixed, GLONASS with ambiguity free and combined GPS+GLONASS with ambiguity fixed kinematic PPP approach. The results show the eight constituents derived by GPS_FX and GPS+GLONASS_FX solution need four years and three years to converge to stable values, respectively. GLONASS can significantly improve the convergence rate of K1 and K2 constituents which needs only two years to converge to stable values, and S2 and P1 constituents which need three years to stable values. The results also show the GPS+GLONASS/reference misfits are the smallest for the most constituents in three components (less than 2mm) except for K2 and K1 in vertical and north directions. GLONASS can improve more than 40% in vertical and north components over GPS and GPS+GLONASS for K2 and K1 constituents and show very close agreement with GPS_FX solution in vertical and north component for S2 and P1 constituents. Ambiguity resolved in OTLD estimation can significantly accelerate the convergence and improve the accuracy for eight constituents, especially for combined GPS+GLONASS kinematic PPP mode, but no single constellation mode solution for all eight major constituents exists.

The main challenge of dual-frequency precise point positioning (PPP) is that it requires about 30 min to obtain centimeter-level accuracy or to succeed in the first ambiguity-fixing. Currently, PPP ...is generally conducted with GPS only using the ionosphere-free combination. We adopt a single-differenced (SD) between-satellite PPP model to combine the GPS and GLONASS raw dual-frequency carrier phase measurements, in which the GPS satellite with the highest elevation is selected as the reference satellite to form the SD between-satellite measurements. We use a 7-day data set from 178 IGS stations to investigate the contribution of GLONASS observations to both ambiguity-float and ambiguity-fixed SD PPP solutions, in both kinematic and static modes. In ambiguity-fixed PPP, we only attempt to fix GPS integer ambiguities, leaving GLONASS ambiguities as float values. Numerous experimental results show that PPP with GLONASS and GPS requires much less convergence time than that of PPP with GPS alone. For ambiguity-float PPP, the average convergence time can be reduced by 45.9 % from 22.9 to 12.4 min in static mode and by 57.9 % from 40.6 to 17.7 min in kinematic mode, respectively. For ambiguity-fixed PPP, the average time to the first-fixed solution can be reduced by 27.4 % from 21.6 to 15.7 min in static mode and by 42.0 % from 34.4 to 20.0 min in kinematic mode, respectively. Experimental results also show that the less the GPS satellites are used in float PPP, the more significant is the reduction in convergence time when adding GLONASS observations. In addition, on average, more than 4 GLONASS satellites can be observed for most 2-h observation sessions. Nearly, the same improvement in convergence time reduction is achieved for those observations.

The article examines a method for increasing the accuracy of determining the coordinates of the user's navigation equipment by correcting the code pseudorange based on corrections calculated on the ...basis of partial data on the characteristics of the passage of satellites. The results of an experiment carried out at the Institute of Engineering Physics and Radioelectronics of the Siberian Federal University on the basis of a measuring stand of a demand-free measuring system, with a time constant of the filter for evaluating the code pseudo-range equal to 90 seconds, are presented.

Earlier studies performed at the Center for Orbit Determination in Europe (CODE) analysis center have revealed conspicuous signatures for certain GLONASS satellites when comparing their orbits with ...Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) measurements. In this study we show that this phenomenon can be significantly reduced when using horizontal satellite antenna offsets that differ from the nominal values used by the International GNSS Service (IGS) for specific intervals and satellites.
Analysis of multi-year time series shows instantaneous changes in the satellite antenna offset parameters of several centimeters in the X- and Y-component whereas the Z-component is not affected. In some cases the offsets do not agree with the nominal values during the entire lifetime of the satellite. The magnitude of the deviation may vary between 5 and 15 cm. Using these re-estimated satellite antenna offsets in the orbit determination the residuals with respect to the Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) measurements are significantly reduced whereas the orbit misclosures for one-day arcs are too noisy to detect a positive or negative impact.
It is difficult to reconstruct from the available information what actually caused the observed changes. However, changes in the carrier-to-noise density reported in the observation files in Receiver INdependent EXchange format (RINEX) by several IGS stations suggest an issue with the satellite antennas.
