A compact integrated circuit is an intellectual property core at the heart of the decades of embedded devices on embedded systems. Using a microcontroller-based electronic module manufactured as ...desired or direct service of the board of Arduino as a control system for many purposes has become a certainty. Defining the problem formulations is related to the manufacture, assembly of the mechanical apparatus, and integrated wiring of several electronic modules. The acquisition of research contributions is expected to get the miniature embodiment of the physical machine equipped with a user program and perform the machine driver. The research methods consist of several steps to carry out each research objective. The miniature embodiment is carried out through (i) manufacturing and assembling to obtain the physical machine, (ii) integrating the electronic modules and all components and support systems by wiring to form an embedded system as a mini-PCB printing machine, and (iii) making a program structure based on Arduino IDE. Performing the machine driving mechanism is operating tests of calibration and moving on the axes of X, Y, and Z. Concluding based on the implementation process, testing, and analysis are carried out that the stages for performing the Mini PCB Printing Machine assisted by Arduino board with driven by GRBL Gru can be realized according to the initial design of hardware and software design.
Filament winding technology is one of the fundamental fabrication methods in composite material fields, which has a high degree of automation. It is the process in which continuous strands or ...filament of fibres is wound on the mandrel, which is suitable for high-pressure vessels, pipes, shaft and ducts. The present filament winding machines have existed in enterprises or factories, which are high costs, heavy, complex control system and machine structure. The objective of this study is to design a 3-axis filament winding machine, which has portable, lightweight, low costs, high efficient and inexpensive control system features compared to the previous and present machine. The control system relates hardware section and software section, which can meet three axes movement principle. The 3-axis prototype filament winding machine has also been developed. Arduino Uno and CNC v1 shield module are applied as hardware section. Universal G-Code Sender (UGS) and Grbl codes are adopted as software section. In conclusion, a 3-axis portable, lightweight and low-cost filament winding machine have been successfully developed, which can fabricate filament wound carbon/epoxy tubes with a proper inexpensive control system.

A low-cost Scanning Electrochemical Microscope (SECM) was built with a 0.6 pA current measurement capability potentiostat and submicron resolution motorized stage, using open source ...software and hardware tools. The high performance potentiostat with a Python graphical user interface was built based on an open source project. Stepper motors, Arduino controller, a manual XY micromanipulator stage, 3D printed couplers and gears were used in building the motorized stage. An open source motor control software was used for moving the motorized stage with high precision. An inverted microscope was utilized for viewing a standard microelectrode while scanning. The setup was tested in the formation of a map of electrochemical signals from an array of pores on a parafilm membrane.

Underwater measurements in a lab environment are challenging, with sensors or objects that need to be positioned precisely and reproducible. Existing systems are expensive, often not suited for ...underwater usage, and not flexible. Underwater's main challenges are determining the "exact" relative position and a positioning system that is operated reliably in a wet environment. The commercial systems available are fixed in dimensions and cannot be fitted to lab conditions. We present our open solution, which is scalable and flexible to be adapted to other applications. The solution consists of a table with readily adaptable components such as positioning components integrated into an MQTT environment with precise stepper motor units. The table is easy to adapt in size, and we take care of special placement for electrical components to not get into contact with water. The system achieves a noticeable performance and is fully automated. The speed is adaptable between 1 mm/s and 30 mm/s, with a resolution of 0.1 mm.
This work proposes the design of a low cost semi-industrial three degree of freedom CNC vertical milling center (VMC) with non-ferrous metal machining capabilities. The design seeks to mitigate the ...difficulties that acquiring a commercial industrial CNC can present, such as large dimensions, high cost and complications in its transportation within the plant. The proposed machine will be made up of 1 NEMA 23 stepper motor for each X, Y and Z axis, and will be controlled by open source firmware using an ATMEGA 2560 microcontroller. Likewise, the working area will be 320x180mm and will have a precision 100 microns with semi industrial capacities. This design is aimed at small and medium-sized companies that are looking for a low cost non-ferrous CNC milling machine that in turn has the quality, performance and precision of an industrial one.

Human hand is a very complex system that can perform many useful tasks and its use cannot be precisely mimicked by any machine. People with vision impairments are required to learn different forms of ...languages such as the braille script to understand and communicate. When it comes to writing, the task becomes even more difficult, hence a simple yet accurate method has been proposed for the Person with disabilities (PWD) class. Our proposed framework will use voice as the medium to control the machine. The aim of this paper is to develop a machine which will help Person with disabilities (PWD) class to write. With the help of proposed model, the need of stenographers will be minimized as they are more error prone. The model focuses on having good accuracy at converting the speech to text and writing it down on the paper.
The proprietary control of CNC machines results in the inability to control and enhance inputs because the program codes cannot be modified owing to their distribution by vendors in the compiled ...form. In this paper, we present a method to utilize a GRBL-Arduino based controller to run a simple two-axis computerized numerical control (CNC) machine. We obtained drawing file by converting a JPG or PNG image of a hexagon or a circle into a drawing file using the software application Img2CAD. Two-dimensional manufacturing was carried out on the obtained drawing file to generate the G-code file by the CAD/CAM software application UG NX. The G-code file generated is given as input to the GRBL-Arduino based controller using the Java-based Windows application Universal GcodeSender (UGS). UGS is linked to the Arduino Uno and GRBL shield V5 hardware via a serial communication port. Before executing the G-code program, the circle or hexagon to be drawn can be visualized using G-code visualizer option in UGS. G-code program was executed through UGS to run two 2.6 kg-cm stepper motors for motion along x and y-axis direction via drivers incorporated on the GRBL-Arduino controller. These stepper motors were part of a simple two-axis CNC machine comprising aluminum angle brackets, chromed chords, linear motion bearings, a timing belt, and a timing pulley. Stepper motors cause motion of the mentioned mechanical components to draw desired image of circle or hexagon. This work can be extended to develop a three-axis CNC machine by utilizing the third inbuilt stepper driver of the GRBL shield V5; in this study, we used only two of the three inbuilt stepper drivers for the stepper motors. Using the third driver will facilitate the use of a third axis so that the machine can function as a milling machine. Hardware for the third axis must be developed to incorporate a z-axis motor.
All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
