Autori u radu temeljem arhivskoga gradiva Skupštine općine Koprivnica i Glasa Podravine donose politički i društveni panoptikum Koprivnice ususret, tijekom i netom nakon Hrvatskoga proljeća. Donose ...se nove političke i društvene spoznaje o toj povijesnoj epohi koja do sada nije bila validno historiografski i komunikološki prorađena u novijim radovima i literaturi. Sinergija historiografske i komunikološke prosudbe pokazala je cjelovitu povijesnu sliku koprivničke politike i društva krajem 60-ih i početkom 70-ih godina XX. stoljeća.
Metallic glasses (MGs) have recently attracted great attention in degrading azo dyes and other organic pollutants as a kind of environmental-friendly materials for wastewater remediation. In this ...paper, decolorization properties of MGs based on different iron-group elements (IGEs) were reported, and adsorption or reductive degradation of aqueous azo dye solutions was observed on the surface of glassy ribbons due to their different main constituents. The primary factor determining the occurrence of adsorption or degradation was considered to be the electronic nature of the MGs instead of their crystalline structures or surface states. Besides, some electrochemical information of the glassy ribbons in the azo dye solutions was also provided for understanding the mechanism of the decolorization process. Our findings suggest that such MGs based on IGEs may be good candidates for preparing tailored materials to treat azo dye solutions or other similar organic solutions.
•Fe-, Co- and Ni-based metallic glasses (MGs) are designed to decolorize azo dyes.•Adsorption or degradation occurs depending on the main constituents of MGs.•Electronic nature of MGs determines whether adsorption or degradation occurs.

Recycled glass, due to its high content of silica, can show some pozzolanic activity when it has a small enough particle size, this represents an alternative for the manufacture of mortars, as a ...partial substitute for portland cement, with which it is possible to reduce the waste of this material that can take up to 4000 years to degrade. This work studies the behavior of mortar mixtures with the addition of silica from recycled glass, and its impact on the values of fluidity, fineness, and density. The methodology was managed according to the factor analysis for the experimental design, finding two factors such as the curing time of the samples and the percentage of replacement of cement by the recycled glass, establishing percentages of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30%. The results obtained indicate a decrease in density up to 5.34%, additionally, the melt index was reduced to 13.65%, and the specific surface of the processed waste reached a value of 41.43% lower than the of cement. These results indicate that the project represents a viable alternative for the reincorporation of recycled materials to the production cycle, also contributing to the reduction of the impact generated by the construction industry, seeking new alternatives in the use of alternative materials.
We report the triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA) upconversion (UC) through triplet energy transfer (TET) from a sensitiser fixed on a solid surface to free emitters dissolved in solution. A ...carboxylic-acid derivative of Pt-porphyrin was used as the sensitiser fixed on an amino-treated surface of continuous nanoporous glass without aggregation. UC emission was observed under photoexcitation of 532 nm for porphyrin-fixed glass immersed in an emitter solution of 9,10-diphenylanthracene (DPA), showing that TET occurs through the solid-liquid interface. The dynamics of TET was analysed through both phosphorescence decay of the sensitiser and UC emission rise from the emitter. Two TET components with different rate constants were found, slower than diffusion-controlled reactions in solution by 1-2 orders of magnitude. Nevertheless, the solid surface TET rates were fast enough to obtain a high quantum yield over the solid-liquid interface. By melting DPA and soaking it into sensitiser-fixed porous glass, we fabricated an all-solid system enabling TTA-UC through the bulk interface.
Photon upconversion and the triplet energy transfer dynamics were studied for sensitizer-fixed nanoporous glass immersed in emitter solution.
Ethane is found confined to mineral and organic pores in certain shale formations. Effects of confinement on structural and dynamic properties of ethane in mesoporous controlled pore glass (CPG) were ...studied by gravimetric adsorption and quasi-elastic neutron scattering (QENS) measurements. The obtained isotherms and scattering data complement each other by quantifying the relative strength of the solid–fluid interactions and the transport properties of the fluid under confinement, respectively. A magnetic suspension balance was used to measure the adsorption isotherms at two temperatures and over a range of pressures corresponding to a bulk density range of 0.01–0.35 g/cm3. Key confinement effects were highlighted through differences between isotherms for the two pore sizes. A comparison was made with previously published isotherms for CO2 on the same CPG materials. Behavior of ethane in the smaller pore size was probed further using quasi-elastic neutron scattering. By extracting the self-diffusivity and residence time, we were able to study the effect of pressure and transition from gaseous to supercritical densities on the dynamics of confined ethane. A temperature variation QENS study was also completed with pure ethane and a CO2–ethane mixture. Activation energies extracted from the Arrhenius plots show the effects of CO2 addition on ethane mobility.

The preparation of silica membranes by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is critically reviewed, with focus placed on the two most common supports used, Vycor glass and porous alumina. The major ...application of the membranes is hydrogen separation, but other gases can also be separated by functionalization of the silica. A description is given of the different gas transport mechanisms, and a comparison is provided to palladium membranes.
•Silica-based membranes for hydrogen separation are critically reviewed.•Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) on Vycor glass and alumina supports is described.•The main CVD geometries, “one-sided” and “opposing reactants” feed are discussed.•Different operative gas transport mechanisms are presented.•The use of silicon and non-silicon CVD precursor compounds is covered.
Hydrogen separation membranes are important in the gas separation field and among these, silica-based membranes have emerged as promising materials at high temperatures due to their high permeation rates, high selectivity, hydrothermal stability, resistance to poisons, and mechanical strength. A critical review of the preparation of silica membranes by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is given, with special attention placed on the two major supports used, Vycor glass and porous alumina. The coverage includes the different gas transport mechanisms that occur through silica membranes, which are convective flow, Knudsen diffusion, molecular sieving, activated diffusion, and solid-state diffusion. A description is made of the two main CVD geometries, which are the “one-sided” feed and “opposing reactants” feed configurations. The results of numerous studies in which CVD precursors such as silicon alkoxides and organosilicon species, as well as non-silicon element compounds are used to control pore size and surface properties are presented. Also the effect of varying reaction conditions such as temperature, pressure, and reaction time are compared. Finally, the permeation properties of the silica membranes are compared to those of palladium membranes, both types of membranes are employed for hydrogen separation in membrane reactors, and the advantages of silica membranes in these reactor systems are discussed.

Although recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) has been widely applied for bone regeneration, finding an ideal delivery system with optimal dose and minimal side ...effects is still a challenge. In this context, a novel mesoporous bioactive glass nanotubular (MBG-NT) scaffold loaded with rhBMP-2 was developed using a template-assisted sol-gel method. The obtained MBG-NT scaffold showed a notable 3D network structure and the nanotubes had an outer diameter of approximately 45 nm and a wall thickness of 15 nm. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) certified that the rhBMP-2 was successfully loaded into the MBG-NT scaffold with a quantity of 184.3 ± 5 ng mg−1, and the MBG-NT scaffold exhibited a sustained release of rhBMP-2 for 28 days due to the presence of mesoporous structures. Moreover, the rhBMP-2-loaded MBG-NT scaffold exhibited enhanced proliferation, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and osteogenic-related gene expression of human bone marrow stromal cells (hBMSCs) when compared to bare MBG-NT scaffold. We believe that the rhBMP-2-loaded MBG-NT scaffold can be a promising scaffold for regeneration of large bone defects.

This article seeks to provide an insight into the perception of female activism, the symbolic role of women and their future in the labor movement during the First World War, i.e. to show the ...imagined space that party and trade union bodies intended for women. The newspaper of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SDP BiH), Glas slobode (Voice of Freedom), will be used to analyze the category of gender and its representation in one of the sections of the international social democratic movement.
Mertz Glacier (MG) calved in February 2010 and a 70-years' calving cycle of MG was reported recently because of the shallow Mertz Bank. To better investigate the calving process, a high accurate ...surface Digital Elevation Model (DEM) with accurate date marker over MG is urgently required for numerical modeling, especially over the ice tongue. However it is quite challenging to generate an accurate DEM over high relief and steep slope regions. To solve this problem, a new method for accurate coastal DEM production by merging ASTER GDEM and ICESat/GLAS data is designed, which can effectively discriminate accurate elevation data from ASTER GDEM. Then, a DEM corresponding to the end of 2002 over MG is generated, which has an accuracy of 0.99±17.50m. This DEM is several times better in accuracy than the original ASTER GDEM (accuracy: −8.17±54.31m) and two new characteristics of ASTER GDEM have been found through analysis. First, ASTER GDEM has elevation bias (varying from −23m to 28m), spatially correlated to ASTER ground tracks, which was most probably caused by uncertainty of attitude measurements of ASTER. Second, ASTER GDEM grids with stacking number ≥4 can be effectively adjusted by ground control points so as to improve elevation accuracy. Additionally, this DEM has the best accuracy by comparing with other DEMs (RAMP DEM: 47.71±91.61m, ICESat/GLAS DEM: −1.01±30.33, Bamber DEM: −1.07±33.04m, Bedmap-2 DEM: 9.19±48.34m, and Cryosat-2 DEM: −5.42±32.02m). The high performance of our DEM in accuracy indicates that our method is effective and has a potential to be widely used to improve existing ASTER GDEM along Antarctic coast.
•A method of generating accurate DEM by merging ASTER GEM and ICESat was proposed.•An accurate DEM for Mertz Glacier (MG) East Antarctica was produced.•The DEM has an accuracy of 0.99±17.50m comparing with ICE-Bridge laser altimetry data.•The DEM is better than other existing DEMs over MG in accuracy.•ASTER GDEM has a potential to be merged to improve existing Antarctic coastal DEMs.

•Simple approach to monitor CEA biomarker.•Alternative conductive support (FTO glass) to create the biomimetic sensor for CEA detection.•Low-cost, sensitive and selective biomimetic device for CEA ...concentration levels within the normal physiological values.•Promising tool to monitor CEA in point-of-care applications.
This work reports a novel approach to monitor Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) biomarker with molecular-imprinting technology assembled on a conductive glass surface. For this purpose, the polymerization was achieved by electrical stimulus on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO)-glass modified with a homemade carbon ink (hCCI). The biomimetic material was assembled on top of this surface, by moulding CEA at the molecular level around a polyaminophenol (PAP) polymeric matrix. The CEA biomarker was previously incubated in the presence or not of aminophenylboronic acid (APBA), to evaluate the effect of negative charges at the rebinding site. Then, aminophenol (AP) monomer was electropolymerized on the modified FTO glass, acting as working electrode. The template was removed by enzymatic action. Likewise, a control material having only PAP and no CEA was also prepared.
The resulting sensing films were evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and cyclic voltammetry (CV), and the chemical modifications on these after each stage of the assembly process was followed by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopies. Imprinted devices displayed good linear responses to CEA in EIS assays from 2.5 ng/mL to 1.5 μg/mL in phosphate buffer solution (PBS). A promising detection of CEA was, also, achieved in spiked foetal bovine serum (FBS) samples, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 3 ng/mL.
Overall, the devices developed herein are promising tools for monitoring CEA in point-of-care (POC) applications, being able to detect lower concentrations than those in normal physiological levels. In addition, the biosensors offer low cost, high sensitivity and good selectivity, and may be used to couple to other reading devices.
