Predstavljeni so rezultati predhodnih arheoloških raziskav in zaščitnega arheološkega izkopavanja na najdišču Grublje pri Vipavi, ki so potekale leta 2008. Upoštevane so ugotovitve starejših ...raziskav, najdbe so podrobno analizirane. Izkopa - vanja so zajela zahodni rob rimskodobnega naselbinskega območja, ki je bilo verjetno poseljeno od konca 1. do konca 4. stoletja. Glede na odkrite strukture domnevamo, da je na Grubljah v tem času stalo manjše podeželsko naselje, zgrajeno ob robu Vipavskega polja, v bližini itinerarske ceste Akvileja–Emona. Zbir drobnih najdb je pester in podoben tistemu, ki ga najdemo v sočasnih naselbinskih plasteh na najdiščih zahodne Slovenije. Odlomki uvožene namizne keramike in amfor za vino nakazujejo določeno blaginjo prebivalcev raziskane naselbine.
The kitchen is the core~it is the heart of the home. A major part of our daily routine takes place in the kitchen. In addition to being a place for food preparation, the kitchen also defines our ...lifestyle and social status. In the 20th century, the kitchen, its practices and representations were changing. The form, use and purpose of the kitchen were connected to general and specific (micro-)regional economic, social, demographic, cultural and ideological circumstances, and after all also socio-economic conditions of the household. This book ('From the main place to dwell to a working cell: Development of the kitchen in the Vipava Valley') presents the formal development of the kitchen in the Vipava Valley in the 20th century regarding the changes in kitchen practices and the image of the kitchen.
We have here investigated the fatty acid composition in the muscle (Mm. biceps femoris, semitendinosus and semimembranosus) of Vipava and Vipava-style hams made from fresh pork legs that originate ...from Slovenia, and from Germany and Italy, respectively. Dry-cured hams are produced under technology protected according to recognized geographical indications for Vipava ham, a salt-cured ham that is air-dried rather than smoked. The fatty acid compositions of samples were determined by gas-liquid chromatography following in-situ transesterification. On average, hams contained 6.89% of intramuscular and intermuscular fat, with the fatty-acid composition as 50.0% monounsaturated, 11.8% polyunsaturated (PUFA) and 38.0% saturated fatty acids. The origin of the raw matter has significant influence the PUFAs in hams, which were 2.0% lower in products from pigs of Slovenian (own) rearing. The important indicators of lipid nutritive value, as P/S ratio (0.31), content of n-3 (0.68%) and n-6 (9.02%) PUFAs, and ratio of n-6/n-3 PUFAs (14.1), are similar to those cited in the literature for other types of dry-cured hams from south European regions produced from pigs reared under intensive systems.
The Slano Blato landslide is more than 1290m long, 60 to 200m wide and 3 to 11m deep with a volume of about 700000m3. It is located in the Eocene flysch region of western Slovenia with a limestone ...overthrust in the direct vicinity, above the landslide. The landslide moves mainly as a viscous earth flow with occurrences of rapid mud flows. In dry periods or in freezing conditions it behaves as a group of several slow to moderate landslides. The landslide follows the course of the Grajšček stream and is presently only 220m away from Lokavec village. The landslide was first mentioned about 200 years ago. In 1887 it flowed as a liquid flow and reached and destroyed the main road in the valley 2 km away. The Austro-Hungarian monarchy sent one engineer to the site and 17 years later the slide was remediated with a series of torrential check dams. The monarchy prohibited any construction works in the influence area of the landslide. During the 20th century the region changed from Austrian, Italian, Yugoslav, and finally to Slovenian government in 1991. The relevant Austrian measures and decisions were forgotten during the course of the years, and building permits were issued after the World War II to local people who populated the part of the landslide influence area. Simultaneously, regular maintenance of the excellent past engineering works was neglected. In November 2000 a large landslide of mud and debris was triggered again and it still presents a danger to the relatively new residential houses today. At present, the village is protected against mudflows by a small rockfill dam and by the regulation of the stream bed. In rainy periods removal of mud is necessary to maintain safe conditions for the village. The paper discusses the geological, hydrogeological, hydrological and geotechnical conditions for the occurrence of the Slano Blato landslide. The primary reasons for the Slano blato landslide are the geological and hydrogeological conditions just beneath the overthrust of a Triassic limestone plateau over the Eocene flysch of Vipava valley. The direct reason for triggering the earth flow in 2000 was the intensive precipitation. During the course of years the precipitation threshold for earth flow movements has diminished. The landslide has to be remediated for two main reasons – (1) the village below the landslide is endangered, and (2) the landslide is still advancing retrogressively and laterally. The foreseen permanent remediation measures that are currently under construction are briefly presented.
The active landslide Slano blato above Lokavec in the Vipava valley, Slovenia, is a complex phenomenon. The hinterland of the landslide consists of the large fossil block of Mala Gora that slid about ...300 m down the slope of Mt. Čaven, and was tilted with respect to the slope. We presume that the corresponding failure surface is concavelyshaped. The block consist in its lower part of Eocene flysch beds and in its upper part of Triassic carbonate rocks that are thrust over the flysch. It is probable that due to gravitational slumping the flysch basement obtained a concave shape, that serves as a catchment structure for retaining the ground water. It slowly percolates throughthe crushed calcarenitic layers in flysch. According to available data the Slano blato was triggered in 1887 by earthworks, and in 2000 by natural erosion processes. The structural characteristics allow the assumption that movement occurs in crushed and weathered flysch beds that are percolated by a steady or periodical supply ofgroundwater from the structural reservoir in the Mala Gora fossil slumped block. Coexistence of the older structural and the younger active weathered material landslides can be observed also at other localities along the thrust front of the Trnovo and Hrušica (Nanos) nappe. Especially interesting in this respect are the Razdrto and Strane landslides.
