Internet use-related addiction problems (e.g., Internet addiction, problem mobile phone use, problem gaming, and social networking) have been defined according to the same core element: the addictive ...symptomatology presented by individuals who excessively and problematically behave using the technology. Online activity is the most important factor in their lives, causing them the loss of control by stress and difficulties in managing at least one aspect of their daily life, affecting users’ wellbeing and health. In 2018, Gaming Disorder was included as a mental disease in the 11th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases by the World Health Organization. In 2013, the American Psychiatric Association requested additional research on Internet Gaming Disorder.
The papers contained in this e-Book provide unique and original perspectives on the concept, development, and early detection of the prevention of these health problems. They are diverse in the nature of the problems they deal with, methodologies, populations, cultures, and contain insights and a clear indication of the impact of individual, social, and environmental factors on Internet use-related addiction problems. The e-Book illustrates recent progress in the evolution of research, with great emphasis on gaming and smartphone problems, signaling areas in which research would be useful, even cross-culturally.
IntroductionIn the medical field, work addiction is a double-edged phenomenon. It can be regarded as a positive addiction leading to high motivation to work, but it can also have adverse mental, ...physical, and social consequences.ObjectivesTo assess the relationship between work addiction and perfectionism in trainee doctors.MethodsWe conducted a cross-sectional descriptive and analytical study among trainee doctors. We used the “Work Addiction Risk Test” (WART), and “The Big Three perfectionism scale short form”.ResultsA total of 99 doctors were included. The mean age of participants was 27.6 years, with a sex ratio (M/F) of 0.33. The doctors in our study worked 5.39±1.6 hours a day and were on call 3.84±2.87 times a month. Their average number of hours of sleep was less than 7 hours in 43.4 % of participants. The mean score of the WART was 61.2±14.83. Among the trainee doctors surveyed 39% were considered at high risk of workaholism. The mean WART score was significantly higher among female physicians and those who slept less than 7 hours per day on average. In addition, the average score on the WART scale was significantly associated with the number of calls per month. We found a statistically significant association between perfectionism scores and work addiction scores.ConclusionsOur study showed that work addiction is common among doctors in training and is favored by high levels of perfectionism. It is therefore essential to explore and define preventive measures to help them find a balance allowing them to aim for high standards and be able to progress, without setting unrealistic expectations, which can lead to work addiction.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared

It is sold as a liquid to be inhaled in electronic cigarettes.ObjectivesTo discuss ...the clinical manifestations and psychopathology associated with PTC.MethodsWe shed light on PTC addiction through clinical vignettes of patients who were hospitalized in pediatrics at the Gonesse hospital.ResultsWe received two male patients with manifestations of PTC intoxication or withdrawal. One of the patients presented with an acute delirious flush requiring long-term treatment, while the second presented with somatic manifestations of pain and vomiting, as well as psychiatric manifestations such as hallucinations, without meeting the criteria for a psychiatric disorder. Both cases required addictological follow-up and child psychiatric therapy.ConclusionsPTC addiction can lead to life-threatening complications, hence the importance of prevention and screening in order to institute early and effective treatment.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared

Its image-driven nature might encourage users to mainly share positive and idealized moments of their ...lives.ObjectivesTo study the link between instagram addiction and the life satisfaction among tunisian doctors.MethodsThis was a cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical study conducted on 106 doctors during the months of september and october 2022. We used:- An anonymous self-questionnaire via google-forms in order to collect data that co-occur the use of instagram.- Instagram Addiction Scale (IAS) : to assess Instagram addiction levels. A score above 37 indicates addiction to instagram.- The Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) : to measure an individual’s global satisfaction with life. Higher score displayed higher satisfaction with life.ResultsThe study included 106 doctors.The mean age was 32.32 years (SD=5.66 years) and the sex ratio (M/F) was 0.60.The mean score for addiction to instagram was 31.18 (SD=11.64). The prevalence of instagram addiction was : 42.5%.The mean life satisfaction score was 20.43 (± 4.21). More than forty percent (42.5%) were slightly satisfied and 30.2% were slightly dissatisfied.The instagram addiction was correlated negatively with life satisfaction (r=-0.292; p=0.002).Instagram addiction was associated witn low satisfaction (p=0.0001).Among addicted doctors, 53.3% were slightly dissatisfied.Among non-addicted doctors, 55.7% were slightly satisfied.ConclusionsOur findings suggest that the higher the intensity of using instagram the lower the life satisfaction.So, interventions targeting addiction to instagram should be integrated in order to ameliorate life satisfaction and quality of life.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared

Belonging and differentiation play a central role in how a family functions, and multifamily group interventions can help to activate these processes. Ce dernier, thérapeute familial formé par Virginia Satir et associé de Jacqueline Prud'homme à Montréal, avait mis en place et supervisait des groupes multifamiliaux au sein des services sociaux des Côtes-d'Armor depuis de nombreuses années. Nous étions déjà des enfants assez âgés dans la profession, la métaphore des liens familiaux trouve ici sa limite. Claude Lebreton était assistante sociale au sein d'un service social départemental à Guingamp, elle animait depuis leur création les groupes multifamiliaux du conseil départemental des Côtes-d'Armor.
