Herein we report the experimental observation (X-ray characterization) of an anion–anion complex (anion = hydrogen fumarate) stabilized by H-bonds that is trapped in a secondary squaramide receptor. ...High level ab initio calculations indicate that the anion–anion complex is thermodynamically unstable but kinetically stable with respect to the isolated anions.

Vinylen verbrückte zwei‐dimensionale Polymere (V‐2DPs) und deren schichtgestapelten kovalent organische Gerüstverbindungen (V‐2D COFs) zeichnen sich durch ihre hohe π‐Konjugation in der Ebene und ...ihre robuste Struktur als vielversprechnende Kanidaten für energiebezogene Anwendungen aus. Allerdings sind derzeitige syntheisische Ansätze auf die Herstellung von V‐2D COF Pulver beschränkt, welche schlecht prozessierbar sind, was die Integration in Geräte, insbesondere für Membranthechnologien, welche auf dünnen Filmen beruhen erschwert. Im folgenden berichten wir über die neu‐artige Synthese von kationischen 2DPs‐Filmen an der Wasseroberfläche, die über Vinyleneinheiten verbrückt sind (V‐C2DP‐1 und V‐C2DP‐2) mittels Knoevenagel‐Polykondensation, diese dienen als anionenselektive Elektrodenbeschichtung für hochreversible und langlebige Zink‐basierte Dual‐Ionen‐Batterien (ZDIBs). Modellreaktionen und theoretische Modellierung zeigen eine erhöte Reaktivität und Reversibilität der Knoevenagel‐Reaktion an der Wasseroberfläche an. Basierend darauf zeigten wir die 2D Polykondensation hin zu V‐C2DP‐Filmen an der Wasseroberfläche, welche eine weitreichen‐de laterale Größe, anpassbare Dicke und hohe chemischer Stabilität besitzen. Repräsentativ zeigt sich V‐C2DP‐1 als ein vollständig crystalliner und flächen‐orientierter Film mit den in der Ebene liegenden Gitterparametern von a=b≈43.3 Å. Dank der gut definierten katinoischen Funktionalitäten, orientierten 1D‐Kanälen und des sabilen Gerüstes besitzt der V‐C2DP‐1 Film eine herausragende Transportselektivität von Bis(trifluormethansulfon)imid‐anion (TFSI−) (Transferrate, t =0.85) für die Graphitkathode in Hochspannungs‐ZDIBs. Die hohe Selektivität führt zu zusätzlichen TFSI−‐Intercalationsstufen wodurch eine höhere spezifischen Kapazität (von ~83 bis 124 mAh g−1), sowie Zyklusdauer (>1000 Zyklen, 95 % Kapazitätserhaltung) gefördert wird.

Mitochondrial stress releases mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) into the cytosol, thereby triggering the type Ι interferon (IFN) response. Mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization, which is required for ...mtDNA release, has been extensively studied in apoptotic cells, but little is known about its role in live cells. We found that oxidatively stressed mitochondria release short mtDNA fragments via pores formed by the voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) oligomers in the mitochondrial outer membrane. Furthermore, the positively charged residues in the N-terminal domain of VDAC1 interact with mtDNA, promoting VDAC1 oligomerization. The VDAC oligomerization inhibitor VBIT-4 decreases mtDNA release, IFN signaling, neutrophil extracellular traps, and disease severity in a mouse model of systemic lupus erythematosus. Thus, inhibiting VDAC oligomerization is a potential therapeutic approach for diseases associated with mtDNA release.

A polymeric tube-like Er sub(48) complex has been synthesized and structurally characterized, in which two types of anions, i.e.Cl super(-) and NO sub(3) super(-), template the formation of Er ...sub(18) wheels and Er sub(12) rings through hydrogen bonding, respectively.
Treatment of meso2-ethylhexyl-3-mercaptopropionate substituted porphyrins with base at room temperature generated a porphyrin thiolate anion which in situreacted in a nucleophilic aromatic ...substitution (S sub(N)Ar) reaction with remaining thioether derivative. This reaction yielded S-linked bisporphyrins in good yields, with mechanistic insight obtained viadisplacement reactions. Additionally, S sub(N)Ar of the thioether chain was achieved using S- and organolithium nucleophiles.
