Although innovation research has received considerable attention in recent decades, the main focus has been on net effects analysis derived from symmetric thinking. Few studies have taken a holistic approach by investigating causal combinations of antecedent conditions. In addressing the question of how to promote firms’ innovation performance, we propose six antecedents from the internal, interfirm, and external contexts. These antecedents are knowledge stock, absorptive capacity, knowledge depth, knowledge breadth, government support, and the business environment. We apply fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to identify alternative configurations leading to high innovation performance from the perspective of knowledge management and innovation ecosystems. Data from 253 listed Chinese manufacturing firms form the basis of the analysis. The findings reveal seven configurational paths that explain high innovation performance and three paths to the absence of high innovation performance. This study provides new insight for innovation research. The paper concludes by discussing the implications for managers and policymakers.

This study aims to specifically analyze the business environment in theconstruction service industry in DKI Jakarta, by using an external andinternal dimension factor approach. The dimensions of ...external factorsinclude several indicators such as political, economic, social andtechnological indicators. While the internal factor dimensions consist ofindicators of corporate culture, corporate structure, and corporateresources. The analysis technique uses Structural Equation Model (SEM)with SmartPLS. The number of samples included 370 leaders ofconstruction service companies in DKI Jakarta. One company isrepresented by one company leader, either large, medium or small scalecompany. The results showed that external factors are more dominantthan the internal factors in shaping the construction service businessenvironment in DKI Jakarta. It can be understood because as the capitalcity, DKI Jakarta has a far more complex constellation than other regions.It means that in the case of operating companies in Jakarta, they must beagile in managing the external threats and opportunities. Companies thatcannot adapt to the very dynamic climate in the capital with the dramaticcompetition will not be able to survive.
This paper examines the role business environments (in terms of dynamism and competitiveness) as contingency factors which affect the effectiveness of different types of innovation strategies (in ...terms of product and process) in delivering business performance. Using the data of 207 manufacturing firms in Australia, this study shows that dynamic environments strengthen the effect of product innovation on business performance. Competitive environments, on the other hand, weaken the effect of product innovation on business performance, but strengthen the effect of process innovation on business performance. Overall, this study demonstrates the strategic fit between dynamism and product innovation strategy as well as between competitiveness and process innovation strategy. On the other hand, competitiveness also shows a strategic mismatch with product innovation. The theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

Although the vast majority of small firms in developing countries never expand beyond a few employees, some experience rapid and substantial growth. This study explores factors associated with small ...firm growth. We discuss key findings for four types of factors: (1) individual entrepreneur characteristics; (2) firm characteristics; (3) relational factors (such as social networks or value chains); and (4) contextual factors (such as the business environment). We conclude by suggesting implications for development practitioners.

The aim of the article was to identify ways to increase the attractiveness of the business environment in Romania. In order to achieve the goal, it was resorted to comparing the attractiveness of the ...business environment in other countries with the one in Romania. The comparative study was carried out by analyzing the factors that influence the business environment and determine its degree of attractiveness. The legislative, fiscal and institutional factors, which represent the levers through which the state acts on the business environment, influencing its attractiveness, were analyzed in chapter 4.1. of the paper. The economic-social factors, which represent the effects of the implementation of government strategies, are the object of study of the chapter 4.2.
This paper deals with issues related to the increase in the cost of purchasing energy, following the secondary effects related to the liberalization of the markets, which will lead the main clients ...from the business environment in Romania to conclude that the increase in the cost of energy is a consequence of the decisions established by the main players in the market, those who provide energy and natural gas, decisions aimed at maximizing their profit. In a much more detailed research, a series of remarks can be made, such as that at the basis of the increase in the purchase regarding the fluctuations in the cost of natural gas cost variations of energy and natural gas that consumers have to bear, there are a multitude of aspects imposed by the European Union. and energy, fluctuations that have proven to have created fluctuations in the business environment in our country over time. Following the research carried out, we can conclude that the main causes of the energy and natural gas market that create imbalances in the business environment are: stock market fluctuations which in the current context have proven to be very dynamic and very unpredictable in extremely sudden changes; energy import and transformations generated by cross-border flows; the return to the consumption recorded before the pandemic period; the reorganization of the geopolitical space based on the decisions imposed by the Russian Federation has a very big impact; non-exploitation of natural gas stocks from warehouses to the maximum.
The effect of business environment on the performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has been widely studied. Nevertheless, research on the effect of a serene business environment on the ...performance of SMEs is insufficient, notably in the context of Malaysia. Therefore, this study examined the effect of a serene business environment on SMEs’ performance in Malaysia. Related literature was critically reviewed, and five hypotheses on the effect of serene business environmental factors on performance were formulated. By adopting the cross-sectional survey design, the data of 148 respondents were collected and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical tools – Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). From the empirical findings, Malaysia’s serene business environment is critical in stimulating the performance of SMEs. Financial market environment, technological environment, and regulatory environment exerted a positive significant effect on SMEs’ performance. Nonetheless, economic environment and competitive environment indicated a strong, but negative significant effect on SMEs’ performance. These findings proposed new insights in this field of research by providing relevant research implications and suitable recommendations to business managers and policymakers in Malaysia.
Green finance has evolved as a concept aiming to integrate environmental protection and economic profits. Growing global concern towards climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, industrial pollution ...control, waste management, and environmental protection has caught the attention of countries and policymakers towards innovative financial products and services that are used to address a broader range of environmental concerns. Financial instruments such as green bonds, green stocks and loans effectively guide capital investment towards environment-friendly projects and promote the United Nations’ sustainable development goals. Thus, green finance is considered a compelling concept that plays a vital role in promoting sustainability. The authors used the Scopus database to perform a bibliometric review of green finance from 2001 to 2022 to determine the current trend and progress in the field. The article presents a thorough bibliometric and temporal analysis that provides inputs that other researchers on this topic have not evaluated. VoS Viewer and Biblioshiny. The software was used to visually analyse the data and identify patterns of co-occurrences and prominent research themes. The graphical and systematic mapping illustrates the evolution in publications over time and identifies areas of current research interests. The findings show that the research on green finance has gained momentum from 2014 onwards. The analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the green finance-related research, which will help the researchers and policymakers to examine better the trends and future direction of the development of green finance.
