This study analytically develops a new recovery planning optimisation model for managing the impacts of the recent COVID-19 outbreak for online business operations. Firstly, a mathematical model for ...the ideal plan is designed and then extended to generate a recovery plan in a finite planning horizon that maximises total profit. Recovery plans are generated considering two scenarios, namely the dynamic and uncertain situations. For the dynamic situation, a realistic system with time-dependent and dynamic demand, supply, and warehouse capacity for investigating the impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak is developed using several measures, such as collaborating with emergency suppliers, increasing warehouse capacity, and considering back-orders and lost sales to form recovery strategies. For the uncertain situation, demand, supply, and warehouse capacities are considered as uncertain variables. Further, an innovative solution approach using an adapted differential evolution technique, which is capable of (i) generating long-term recovery plans and (ii) solving both small- and large-scale problems, is developed. The results are illustrated using numerical analyses and simulation experiments. A sensitivity analysis is also conducted. In practice, the proposed optimisation model will assist the decision-makers of online business operations facing the COVID-19 outbreak to decide the optimal recovery plans.

he need of various textile organizations operating for different periods and at different levels for studying the values of
teamwork as a significant performance of a successful operation expansion ...grows with the spreading of their business
in the international environment and the strengthening of competition. The paper’s subject matter is research on the
attitudes of the owners and higher-level managers of different Serbian textile organizations whose focus is on the
valorisation of the performance of teamwork in an organization. The research intends to assess the defined
characteristics interacting with teamwork as a crucial concept of human resource management that has to be consistent
and explicit, frequently also being the decisive organizational success factor. The paper starts from the premise that
member selection is the most significant for the success of a team striving to rotate the leadership structure to make the
members do key organizational tasks. All the more so because those making relevant decisions and the leadership style
differ depending on the business operations level, the length of business operations and the special attributes of each
organization. The results obtained in this research study show that the business operations level and the length of
business operations significantly influence differences in organizational teamwork rates as observed through a collective
influence of the defined variables. In the given study, comparative statistics methods, hypothetical-deductive methods,
analytical-deductive and comparison methods, historical and statistical-descriptive methods are used.

The objective of this theoretical essay was to construct a model of those factors that might at any time have an influence on the operation of a franchise unit. In order to do so, we studied and ...assessed articles and books between 2014 and 2019 that contain aspects related to franchise operations; they were compiled in a way that had not hitherto been addressed by seminal authors. We analyzed 191 works, of which 71 form part of this study. Preparation of the model is relevant for stimulating conceptual discussion in this field of studies since it has not yet been clearly defined in academic literature. From choosing future franchisees to the daily operation of the unit, there are many factors that can influence the performance, survival, profitability and even the franchisee’s satisfaction with their unit. The model, therefore, serves as the basis for the management actions of franchise networks in monitoring the activities of their franchise units.

Augmented Reality (AR) technologies for supporting maintenance operations have been an academic research topic for around 50 years now. In the last decade, major progresses have been made and the AR ...technology is getting closer to being implemented in industry. In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of AR have been explored and quantified in terms of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for industrial maintenance. Unfortunately, some technical issues still prevent AR from being suitable for industrial applications. This paper aims to show, through the results of a systematic literature review, the current state of the art of AR in maintenance and the most relevant technical limitations. The analysis included filtering from a large number of publications to 30 primary studies published between 1997 and 2017. The results indicate a high fragmentation among hardware, software and AR solutions which lead to a high complexity for selecting and developing AR systems. The results of the study show the areas where AR technology still lacks maturity. Future research directions are also proposed encompassing hardware, tracking and user-AR interaction in industrial maintenance is proposed.

Diack talks about his commercial cactus quartz venture. His cactus quartz love-affair started back in the 1980s, when he first bought a specimen of this unique material from Bruce Cairncross. What ...appealed to his immediately about the piece was its unusual formation, with a second generation of drusy crystals covering the original crystals. Sensing that there was a business opportunity to be had from sourcing and marketing these unique specimens on a commercial basis, he was approached by the well-known dealer Clive Queit toward the end of 2002; he had broached the possibility of setting up a business in partnership with noted collector and acquaintance Uli Bahmann.

•Exploring the impacts brought by market data quality problem in the emerging markets.•The use of blockchain as a potential candidate to help is investigated and the role played by the government is ...highlighted.•Extending the analysis to the centralized supply chain setting and showing the beauty of forming strategic alliance.•Novel insights and managerial implications are generated.
In emerging markets, there are data quality problems. In this paper, we establish theoretical models to explore how data quality problems affect sustainable fashion supply chain operations. We start with the decentralized supply chain and find that poor data quality lowers supply chain profit and social welfare. We consider the implementation of blockchain to help and identify the situation in which blockchain helps enhance social welfare but brings harm to supply chain profitability. We propose a government sponsor scheme as well as an environment taxation waiving scheme to help. We further extend the study to the centralized supply chain setting.

Machine Learning (ML) systems are built to shift through large amounts of data. Applying ML in production settings allows for the collection of additional data that can be used to guide future ...decisions about the system's design. Since the late 1970s, academics have taken an interest in the field of financial predictions. The real business environment has neglected statistical methods in forecasting, despite highly sophisticated models and rising competence in econometrics and economics studies. Current research centres on implementing various algorithms to identify the variation in performance for each product, and it compares the time series models to one another to identify the better model. A basic forecast model can make reliable, fact-based sales projections, as suggested by the books on forecasting. The worth of the forecast model lies in its ability to simplify the arduous tasks of budgeting and rolling forecasting by providing an unbiased forecast upon which a comprehensive financial strategy can be based. In this research, we first look for appropriate machine learning algorithms that can be used to predict sales of truck components, and then we run experiments with the selected algorithms to make predictions about sales and assess how well they work. Business forecasting allows for the estimation of a wide variety of activities, each of which can be tailored to the individual requirements of the company. Here are a few examples of frequently estimated kinds of operations. Although it is well-known that certain algorithms, such as Simple Linear Regression, Gradient Boosting Regression, Support Vector Regression, and Random Forest Regression, outperform others, it has been demonstrated that Random Forest Regression is the most suitable algorithm. Based on the results of the experiments and the analysis, the Ridge regression algorithm was selected as the best algorithm to conduct the sales forecasting of truck components for the selected data.

South Africa has recently experienced an increase in unrest within urban and rural communities, despite attempts from both government and business levels to engage communities through community ...engagement (CE) forums. This has had a negative impact on the operations of businesses in the mining industry in South Africa. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore CE challenges in the South African mining sector, to understand the dynamics and factors affecting the peaceful equilibrium between the relevant stakeholder groups using CE best practices. The study used qualitative research methods where semi-structured interviews, as well as focus group discussion, was conducted among different stakeholders who were selected purposefully. Data were thematically analysed using the Atlasti software programme. The following themes were identified: Anglo social way, CE approaches, CE structures, guiding policies, terms of references and municipality framework. It was recommended that community members need to be educated about how the mine interacts with the community, its activities, and their participation.
