Bibliometric analysis is a popular and rigorous method for exploring and analyzing large volumes of scientific data. It enables us to unpack the evolutionary nuances of a specific field, while ...shedding light on the emerging areas in that field. Yet, its application in business research is relatively new, and in many instances, underdeveloped. Accordingly, we endeavor to present an overview of the bibliometric methodology, with a particular focus on its different techniques, while offering step-by-step guidelines that can be relied upon to rigorously perform bibliometric analysis with confidence. To this end, we also shed light on when and how bibliometric analysis should be used vis-à-vis other similar techniques such as meta-analysis and systematic literature reviews. As a whole, this paper should be a useful resource for gaining insights on the available techniques and procedures for carrying out studies using bibliometric analysis.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to change consumer behavior. However, despite billions of consumers using mobile smart phones, adoption of (artificial) intelligent voice assistants, ...like Siri, is relatively low. A conceptual model was constructed to determine the influence of consumer trust, interaction, perceived risk, and novelty value on brand loyalty for AI supported devices. Using the MTurk platform, data was collected from a sample of 675 Apple iPhone-using respondents. The findings showed perceived risk seems to have a significantly negative influence on brand loyalty; however, other factors were found to have a significantly positive influence on brand loyalty. The influence of novelty value of using Siri was found to be moderated by brand involvement and consumer innovativeness in such a way the influence is greater for consumers who are less involved with the brand and who are more innovative.

It is no surprise that research on digital transformation (DT) has raised vast interest among academics in recent decades. Countries, cities, industries, companies, and people all face the same ...challenge of adapting to a digital world. The aim of the paper is twofold. First, map the thematic evolution of the DT research in the areas of business and management, because existing research in these areas to date has been limited to certain domains. To achieve this, articles were identified and reviewed that were published in the Chartered Association of Business Schools’ (ABS) ≥ 2-star journals. Based on these findings, the second objective of this paper will be to propose a synergistic framework that relates existing research on DT to the areas of business and management, which will help form the evolutionary perspective taken in this paper. Considering the emerging development of the topic under investigation, the framework is understood as a sound basis for continued discussion and forthcoming research.
•This article maps the thematic evolution of current research on digital transformation in business and management.•217 articles from leading business and management journals are analyzed using diverse methodological procedures.•A synergistic framework linking current research on digital transformation with business and management is proposed.

•Digital transformation in healthcare is of increasing relevance for theory and practice.•Prior research about digital transformation in healthcare falls into five clusters.•All these forms of ...technology implementation lead to operational efficiencies.
Digital transformation in healthcare is of increasing relevance for both scholars and practitioners in the field. Our article attempts to assess the research question how multiple stakeholders implement digital technologies for management and business purposes. To answer this question, we perform a systematic literature review about the state of the art of digital transformation in healthcare. Our findings show that prior research falls into five clusters: operational efficiency by healthcare providers; patient-centered approaches; organizational factors and managerial implications; workforce practices; and socio-economic aspects. These clusters are linked together into a model showing how these various forms of technology implementation lead to operational efficiencies for services providers. Various directions for future research and management implications are offered.

Sustainable entrepreneurship (SE) has attracted significant scholarly attention over the last decade. Given its rapid development and its multidisciplinary character, the SE literature is ...increasingly difficult to navigate. We combine two bibliometric approaches (i.e. co-citation analysis of references and bibliographic coupling of documents) with manual coding of documents to take stock of progress within the field, mapping out focal points as well as blind spots in the SE research agenda. We show how distinct subfields have formed around key ideas expressed in subsets of seminal papers, shedding light on the relational nature of knowledge creation – uncovering the characteristics, evolution and future trajectories of these subfields. We develop a future research agenda based on the developments of the overall field as well as the subfields of SE.
•We explore the field and emerging subfields of sustainable entrepreneurship (SE).•We combine bibliometric and qualitative analysis to the SE literature.•We develop an organizing framework of SE helping us to structure the field.•Different SE subfields emerge that have formed around seminal SE papers and ideas.•We identify blind spots in SE research and develop a future SE research agenda.

Semi-systematic and even trivial names are commonly used by the chemical community because of complicity of systematic names. But the differences between the expected and the actual composition are ...surprising in most cases. In this article, which is Part 1 (of a planned 4 articles), we consider elements from hydrogen (H) to argon (Ar) (Z = 1 to 18) and related compounds chosen for phonetic similarity of sound. A brief overview of the chemical energetics, most generally the enthalpy of formation, is given.

Data is considered the new oil of the economy, but privacy concerns limit their use, leading to a widespread sense that data analytics and privacy are contradictory. Yet such a view is too narrow, ...because firms can implement a wide range of methods that satisfy different degrees of privacy and still enable them to leverage varied data analytics methods. Therefore, the current study specifies different functions related to data analytics and privacy (i.e., data collection, storage, verification, analytics, and dissemination of insights), compares how these functions might be performed at different levels (consumer, intermediary, and firm), outlines how well different analytics methods address consumer privacy, and draws several conclusions, along with future research directions.

•This study promotes an institutional perspective that shows that all business practices are part of larger societal and ecological systems.•Practitioners and scholars are equipped with a new ...systemic framework that can explain complex developments in the circular economy.•This article shows that many business model design tools (such as the business model canvas) are ill-equipped to tackle the complexity of circular business models.•This article equips scholars and practitioners with an extensive research agenda to develop systemic circular business models.
While social and circular business models (CBMs) are viewed as important devices to improve humanity’s wellbeing, their adoption rates have been somewhat disappointing. The CBM literature often contributes these low adoption rates to innovation failures of firms and redirects social and circular business models toward a stronger profit-orientation. Much of this work is grounded in a Porterian value chain logic that, arguably, overemphasizes economic goals at the expense of social and sustainability goals. In contrast, this study promotes an institutional perspective that shows that all business practices are part of larger societal and ecological systems, so that a real transition toward sustainability demands joint institutional alignment processes which balance the adaptive tensions between social mission, environmental stewardship and economic growth. We systematically develop five fundamental propositions for a new, institutional CBM framework and, based on these fundamental propositions, discuss an agenda for future research.

Classic literature reviews help advance a subject area. In this article, we discuss the types of review articles and what kinds of review articles are likely to be impactful. In the case of theme- ...based reviews, we suggest that framework-based reviews that use a framework such as TCCM (Theory, Context, Characteristics, Methods) are generally more impactful than other types of reviews such as bibliometric reviews or narrative reviews. Reviews that develop classic theories are also very useful and insightful. Overall, successful review articles identify research gaps and set future research agenda.
