Intertextuality became one of the most popular and important terms in the culture of the 20th century. It is usually considered in connection with postmodernism and its ironic nature. Contemporary ...writing is still intertextual, though far from being postmodern. Moreover, even some medieval texts appear to operate intertextual tools systematically. The article presents examples of intertextuality in different novels from both the pre-postmodern and post-postmodern worlds, and searches for a possible explanation for this phenomenon through methodical solutions that would improve our understanding of intertextuality in the frame of literature analysis. It shows that different features of intertextual writing should be carefully considered in the frame of post-postmodern literature and questions the accuracy of our approach to discussing cultural process.
Contemporaneously, culture is being considered a key issue in public policy, in view to its recognition in promoting economic development. As an expanded territory that aggregates a variety of ...carnival groups considered of fundamental importance for the Pernambuco’s Carnival, Bomba do Hemetério received a local development program carried out from a joint articulation between government, the private sector and non-governmental institutions. Based on Post-Development theoretical perspective, present research aimed to identify what discourses characterize the Bomba do Hemetério’s pump carnival culture as a local development resource. To this end, we collected documentary data about the program in question, which were interpreted by Foucauldian Discourse Analysis. Results indicate how local culture is preserved by the knowledge that underlies it, to the time when this same culture is understood as a source of livelihood for the local community.
