Valentin Fabri je eden vidnejših duhovnikov zadnje petine 15. in prvega desetletja 16. stoletja na Slovenskem. Bil je župnik v Slovenskih Konjicah in arhidiakon savinjskega arhidiakonata, župnik v ...Vuzenici, od leta 1497 do smrti leta 1509 pa tudi prošt v Dobrli vasi (Eberndorf) in arhidiakon v Podjuni (Jauntal). Pod njim je prišlo do prezidav v konjiški in vuzeniški župnijski cerkvi, v dobrolski kapiteljski cerkvi pa so se gradbena dela nadaljevala. Medtem ko je njegov gradbeni angažma z umetnostnozgodovinskega vidika analiziral Matej Klemenčič, se pričujoča razprava osredotoča na Fabrijeve socialne vezi. Te je Fabri tkal v domačem konjiškem okolju, med študijem na Dunaju (in najbrž še kje) ter v času kariere. Na podlagi virov narejena rekonstrukcija oseb, povezanih s Fabrijem, je lahko uporabno izhodišče za nadaljnje obravnave Fabrijevega gradbenega delovanja. Med osebami, zanimivimi tudi v širšem historiografskem smislu, izstopajo plemiči iz vrst nekdanje klientele Celjskih in pripadniki višje duhovščine.
Of the Gothic church which was erected at Homec after the miraculous apparition of the Blessed Virgin in 1419 only the lower part of the free-standing bell-tower has been preserved up to this day~in ...the times of Turkish incursions around 1500 it was adapted to serve as a defence tower as well. Since the condition of the old church had worsened and the building had also become too small, a new sanctuary was built on its northern side in 1723, and the next year the church was pulled down and a new nave was begun on its site~the building was completed in 1728.

The anniversary has offered numerous opportunities to illuminate the importance of this medieval cultural monument, which boasts not only Goriška Brda, but all Slovenia. Individual contributions in the book deal with the broader historical and social context of life in the Brda region of the 16th century.
