AbstractDue to their great performance and ease of installation, refractory castables are common ground materials to enable high‐temperature processes. However, their fully operational condition is ...slowed down by the gradual drying stage required. Therefore, better understanding of the moisture transport is essential to improve their efficiency and reduce the likelihood of explosive spalling events due to vapor pressurization. Neutron tomography provides a relevant inner view of the moisture distribution across a sample and its evolution over time. In this work, the effect of the heating rate on moisture clog was investigated and compared with available laboratory and industrial observations. It was found out that higher heating rates resulted in a faster and longer lasting water accumulation ahead of the drying front, in agreement with other macroscopic studies and explaining the common reasoning behind using slower heating rates and safer industrial operations. This study highlights the potential of neutron imaging for the ongoing effort to maximize the efficiency of the refractory castables drying process by controlling the moisture accumulation without exclusively relying on slower heating rates.

The information wave has promoted social development, but also promoted a lot of technological innovation. BIM technology is based on the development of computer information technology, virtual ...simulation of the building entity, so that its digital presentation. The three-dimensional visualization model established by BIM technology can comprehensively display the structural requirements, reinforcement configuration and other parameters of building columns, beams, plates, walls and other components in a three-dimensional way. It is convenient to calculate the steel bar and concrete engineering quantity accurately and compile the project valuation documents. This paper takes the course "Measurement and Valuation of Construction Engineering" as an example, with the help of Glodon BIM software to help the teaching, deepen the teaching reform, and provide reference for the peers.
The OBE concept is the concept of results-oriented education and the core concept of engineering education certification. Under the background of rapid industrial development, China has put forward ...higher requirements for talent training. However, at present, many colleges and universities, especially a large number of local colleges and universities, still have problems such as unclear positioning, insufficient basis and unreasonable standards for the training objectives of professional talents, which need to be studied and improved according to the OBE concept. Taking the civil engineering specialty of Wuhan University of Science and Technology as an example, this paper carries out relevant analysis from four aspects : the formulation basis, specific content, open channel and rationality evaluation of professional training objectives. The research results can provide reference for the research on talent training objectives of local engineering colleges.
Biobased composites are widely used for building insulation because of their hygrothermal performance, and their economic and environmental benefits. Among the different types of organic fibers for ...these materials, hemp shives are interesting because of their high availability in France and their low price. Nevertheless, the wide application of the hemp-based insulation mortars is hampered by the lack of data on its durability and behavior over the long term. The objective of this study, in a first part, consists in providing an original accelerated aging protocol inspired by the standardized one used for External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS). In a second part, the selected aging weathering cycles were applied to investigate the hygrothermal stresses on the morphology, chemical composition and properties of hemp mortar samples. Experimentally, microstructural characteristics (as total porosity, SEM observation) and hygrothermal properties (as thermal conductivity, Moisture Buffer Value (MBV) and water vapor permeability) were measured and evaluated for both the reference state (after 28 days of conditioning) and after aging (after 28 days of conditioning and the aging cycles). Furthermore, X-ray diffraction and PH analysis were performed to investigate the chemical composition, especially the effect of carbonation. The obtained results reveal the presence of two processes in the aged hemp mortars: the carbonatation of the mineral matrix and the cracking of the interface between the hemp shives and the cement matrix. This later was quantified too. Despite the microstructural degradation, small deteriorations were recognized concerning the hygrothermal properties and behavior of hemp mortar, that is essential for an insulation material. These results provide data for better forecast on the degradation of the hemp mortars.
