This article explores how novice researchers develop a scholarly identity as they cross geographic, cultural, institutional, identity, and methodological borders throughout their studies, ...experiencing insider, outsider, and in-betweener positions. It hypothesizes that researchers become more culturally proficient through their fieldwork and self-study. The autoethnographic narratives address the social justice issues encountered by two early career researchers who increased their cultural proficiency and self-awareness as they moved across multiple cultural contexts. By shifting back and forth between insider, outsider, and in-betweener, the researchers became more culturally proficient, developed their voices as researchers, and practiced inclusivity by amplifying marginalized voices. Their self-reflective analysis of autoethnographic writing speaks to early career and graduate qualitative researchers who must recognize their positionality and their placement on the cultural proficiency continuum to be effective scholars in cross-cultural research.
In the eyes of the representatives of Western, united Europe, the Ukrainians, seemingly divided by language, for a long time a seemingly internally conflicted and in many respects allegedly imperfect ...society, have unex-pectedly emerged as a unified, cohesive and determined nation in a truly heroic struggle for the survival of their culture and European identity. The historical experience of the nations of Central-Eastern Europe, however, teaches them that a similar catastrophic experience is deeply rooted in this area. In it, he reminded that the invasion was not only endangered by a belt of European countries directly attacked by the Turks: "If you do not rush to put out the fire quickly and with great force... the wall that previ-ously served as the outer part of the walls will collapse. If even that shield falls, what more is left than you will collapse, fall and be consumed by the same fire?" Even after three and a half centuries, this truth still applies: at Kiev, Kharkov and Mariu- pol they are fighting today for the freedom and democracy of all of Europe.
Este estudo tem o propósito de investigar se o direito à identidade cultural é reconhecido pelo direito constitucional brasileiro, e a relação-de tensão e conformação--que estabelece com a cultura ...jurídica do país. A Constituição brasileira de 1988 é o grande marco normativo para tal exame. Antes dela, prevaleceu um conceito colonial, eurocêntrico e hegemônico de cultura, que subalternizava negros e índios e suas manifestações culturais. A nova Constituição expressa um compromisso com a igualdade, o multiculturalismo e a inclusão. Perguntase: qual é o resultado do encontro das novas normas e paradigmas com as antigas hierarquias sociais e suas estruturas?

Este artículo se deriva de un estudio en dos municipios de la Costa Caribe norte de Nicaragua, que interactúa de manera crítica con la agenda de investigación británica, dominante en este momento. ...Mediante un stakeholder analysis, hemos intentado mapear el poder cultural en esta parte de Nicaragua en un contexto de racismo persistente, desigualdad de género, pobreza, destrucción ambiental y creciente autoritarismo político mediante entrevistas, grupos focales y talleres con actores relevantes. La investigación fue realizada por un grupo de académicos, profesionales de una organización no gubernamental (ONG) y activistas de la sociedad civil que viven en la costa o que tienen una participación política y profesional a largo plazo, en la región. Proporciona un conjunto de recomendaciones para los organismos gubernamentales y las organizaciones de la sociedad civil, con potencial de aumentar el impacto positivo de nuestros proyectos de investigación y desarrollo en la región.

Identidades étnicas, Politización, Abra Pampa, Espinar, Minería a gran escala Abstract This paper analyses the meanings that guided the collective actions that different social organizations and ...public authorities from the Andean locations of Abra Pampa and Espinar did to cope with the unprecedented large-scale mining boom during the period 2002-2012. El planteamiento es que mientras menor sea la diversificación económica mayor será la probabilidad de que los conflictos mineros sean de "Convivencia". Las técnicas que utilizamos para acceder a la información fueron tres: la observación de actividades públicas (tales como mesas de diálogo, audiencias y actos públicos de organizaciones sociales), entrevistas semi estructuradas a integrantes de las organizaciones sociales y a autoridades públicas involucradas (diecisiete en Abra Pampa y quince en Espinar) y análisis documental (notas de prensa escrita, documentos y pronunciamientos de los agentes locales). Esta actividad logró un importante desarrollo en la provincia entre las décadas del cuarenta y setenta, lo cual le valió para ser declarada en 1974 la "capital nacional de la minería".

Son livre, The Freedom to Smoke: Tobacco Consumption and Identity (McGillQueen's University Press, 2005), a contribué fortement a l'essor de l'histoire culturelle au Québec, tout comme ses études et ...sa monographie en cours, et déja primées, sur la normalisation du temps dans le Québec des XIXe et XXe siecles. Il a notamment reçu le prix du meilleur article de la Canadian Historical Review en 2012 pour « Do you have time ? » en plus d'obtenir le titre de Fullbright Scholar en résidence au programme d'études sur le Canada de l'Université d'État de New York a Plattsburgh. Passionné de la culture québécoise passée et présente, il a contribué au rayonnement de l'histoire du Québec au-dela de ses frontieres comme directeur du Programme d'études sur le Québec et a titre de codirecteur du livre Quebec Questions: Quebec Studies for the Twenty-First Century (Oxford University Press, 2010) ainsi que de la collection « Studies on the History of Quebec » de McGill-Queen's University Press.
