This article offers a literary analysis of the existential dilemmas and psychological traumas of the characters in Mihaela Perciun’s novel, Cenușă rece. The sources and the chain of causality that ...marked the destinies of the characters from the perspective of moral evil are particularly highlighted. We have shown that moral deviations and the constraint of freedom of conscience are what can create both social dissensions and identity fractures over time. By using black humor, the author illustrates an upside-down world, wicked and with values followed only on a declarative level, thus managing to offer us a full picture of this society. It also analyzes the drama of three generations of women and how the male character, Tudor Cocargea, marked their existence by one moral slip he committed. Thus, we found that the characters, although they are blood relatives, are devoid of affection and totally unknown to each other
How do people believe they can best maintain sexual satisfaction in their romantic relationships? In the current research, we draw upon the literature on implicit theories of relationships to develop ...and validate a scale examining 2 types of lay beliefs about how sexual satisfaction can be maintained over time. Individuals high in sexual growth beliefs think that sexual satisfaction is attained from hard work and effort, whereas individuals high in sexual destiny beliefs think that sexual satisfaction is attained through finding a compatible sexual partner. Across 6 studies (2 cross-sectional online studies, a 21-day daily experience study, 2 dyadic studies, and an experimental manipulation; N = 1,896), we find evidence that those higher in sexual growth beliefs experience higher relationship and sexual satisfaction, and have partners who are more satisfied. Conversely, the effects of sexual destiny beliefs on satisfaction are contingent upon signs of partner compatibility: When individuals high in sexual destiny beliefs experience greater sexual disagreements in their relationship, they experience lower relationship quality. These results are independent of general relationship implicit beliefs, providing evidence for the uniqueness of these 2 constructs and the importance of examining implicit beliefs in the domain of sexuality. Overall, these results provide novel evidence that individuals' lay beliefs about maintaining sexual satisfaction are important for understanding the quality of their sex lives and relationships.

The article highlights the idea of «common destiny» of countries and peoples in the works of Russian scientists, politicians and spiritual leaders, which is especially important since the Chinese ...leader Xi Jinping put forward the concept of «community of common destiny of mankind», on the other hand, in connection with the crisis development of the world community in a pandemic that raised the problem of survival.

What is a city made of? Which of its components depend on us, architects and citizens, and which of them are inherent, given by destiny, history, geography? Alexander Rappaport speaks about why the ...Sky, almost a natural element of any landscape, in the Russian landscape, becomes a specific element and a symbol absorbing both historical destiny and utopian prospect of spiritual development, and differs from the German, French, British or Chinese sky (60). Elena Bagina is worried about the future of the Boulevard and the Square in general and in Yekaterinburg in particular. She thinks that these important elements of the urban interior are likely to disappear (66, 70). At the same time, Petr Kapustin is interested in an Obelisk as an element of the Square, a needle stitching the sky to the ground (76). Then Petr comes down from the vertical of the Obelisk to the movement along the horizontal embodied in a Threshold and a Portal (80).
Waterlogging constrains crop yields in many regions around the world. Despite this, key drivers of crop sensitivity to waterlogging have received little attention. Here, we compare the ability of the ...SWAGMAN Destiny and CERES models in simulating soil aeration index, a variable contemporaneously used to compute three distinct waterlogging indices, denoted hereafter as WI
Destiny
, WI
ASD1
, and WI
ASD2
. We then account for effects of crop growth stage and soil temperature on waterlogging impact by introducing waterlogging severity indices, WI
Growth
, which accommodates growth stage tolerance, and WI
Plus
, which accounts for both soil temperature and growth stage. We evaluate these indices using data collected in pot experiments with genotypes “Yang mai 11” and “Zheng mai 7698” that were exposed to both single and double waterlogging events. We found that WI
Plus
exhibited the highest correlation with yield (-0.82 to -0.86) suggesting that waterlogging indices which integrate effects of temperature and growth stage may improve projections of yield penalty elicited by waterlogging. Importantly, WI
Plus
not only allows insight into physiological determinants, but also lends itself to remote computation through satellite imagery. As such, this index holds promise in scalable monitoring and forecasting of crop waterlogging.
When lymphocytes encounter their cognate antigen, they become activated and undergo a limited number of cell divisions during which they differentiate into memory or effector cells or die. While the ...dynamics of individual cells are often heterogeneous, the expansion kinetics at the population level are highly reproducible, suggesting a mean-field description. To generate a finite division destiny, we consider two scenarios: Cells stop dividing after a certain number of iterations or their death rate increases with each cell division. The dynamics of the combined system can be mapped to a partial differential equation, and for a suitable choice of the activation rate, we obtain simple analytical solutions for the total cell number and the mean number of divisions per cell which can well describe the signal-dependent T cell expansion kinetics from in vitro experiments. Interestingly, only the division cessation mechanism yields an expression for the division destiny that does not contradict experiments. We show that the generation-dependent decrease of the division rate in individual cells leads to a time-dependent decrease at the population level which is consistent with a "time-to-die" control mechanism for the division destiny as suggested previously. We also derive mean-field equations for the total cell number which provide a basis for implementing T cell expansion kinetics into quantitative systems pharmacology models for immuno-oncology and CAR-T cell therapies.
How to establish a simple and efficient nonlinear optimization problem form-finding model in noise environments is the main concern of this paper, thereby, a sequential quadratic programming ...form-finding (SQP) approach via a noise-tolerant zeroing neural network (NTZNN) is presented to solve the proposed problem. First, the rank of force density matrix is selected as optimization objective due to its crucial physical property. In addition, linear relations between the force density vectors and force density matrix are selected as the constraint conditions, which can ensure the tensegrity mechanism in a stable status. Furthermore, the simulations are shown that the presented SQP-NTZNN algorithm has superiority with anti-noise performance and computation efficiency, which by comparing the computational rate in the same noise environment with the novel form-finding algorithm. Eventually, the form-finding simulations under different initial conditions are formed to verify the importance of the constrained conditions, it can prove the high efficiency of the proposed nonlinear constrained optimization model which is transformed from the form-finding problem.

I could begin by asking, does patriotism have a place in the study of American art? However, I prefer an even broader question: can ideology—and patriotism is nothing if not an ideological ...phenomenon—furnish a basis for scholarship?
