High-quality two-qubit gate operations are crucial for scalable quantum information processing. Often, the gate fidelity is compromised when the system becomes more integrated. Therefore, a ...low-error-rate, easy-to-scale two-qubit gate scheme is highly desirable. Here, we experimentally demonstrate a new two-qubit gate scheme that exploits fixed-frequency qubits and a tunable coupler in a superconducting quantum circuit. The scheme requires less control lines, reduces cross talk effect, and simplifies calibration procedures, yet produces a controlled-Z gate in 30 ns with a high fidelity of 99.5%, derived from the interleaved randomized benchmarking method. Error analysis shows that gate errors are mostly coherence limited. Our demonstration paves the way for large-scale implementation of high-fidelity quantum operations.

Abstract Compared with the total current, the current in each parallel branch will help to achieve better battery management for new energy vehicles. However, today, accurate measurement of branch ...current is very difficult because the space between branches in the power battery pack is very limited. In this study, the fiber-optic current mini-sensor is used to meet this challenge. A saddle-sensing fiber structure has been designed to achieve surface measurement in response to the specific interconnection of circuitry in battery packs. A computer simulation was used to validate the feasibility, and experimental testing showed positive results. The specific experiments confirmed that the relative error between the saddle fiber-optic current sensor and conventional fiber-optic loop current sensor does not exceed 0.0119%. It meets the requirements of the automotive industry standards.
We introduce the multipartite collision model, defined in terms of elementary interactions between subsystems and ancillas, and show that it can simulate the Markovian dynamics of any multipartite ...open quantum system. We develop a method to estimate an analytical error bound for any repeated interactions model, and we use it to prove that the error of our scheme displays an optimal scaling. Finally, we provide a simple decomposition of the multipartite collision model into elementary quantum gates, and show that it is efficiently simulable on a quantum computer according to the dissipative quantum Church-Turing theorem, i.e., it requires a polynomial number of resources.

We analyze the dynamics of entanglement entropy in a generic quantum many-body open system from the perspective of quantum information and error corrections. We introduce a random unitary circuit ...model with intermittent projective measurements, in which the degree of information scrambling by the unitary and the rate of projective measurements are independently controlled. This model displays two stable phases, characterized by the volume-law and area-law scaling entanglement entropy in steady states. The transition between the two phases is understood from the point of view of quantum error correction: the chaotic unitary evolution protects quantum information from projective measurements that act as errors. A phase transition occurs when the rate of errors exceeds a threshold that depends on the degree of information scrambling. We confirm these results using numerical simulations and obtain the phase diagram of our model. Our work shows that information scrambling plays a crucial role in understanding the dynamics of entanglement in an open quantum system and relates the entanglement phase transition to changes in quantum channel capacity.

We use the ideas of goal-oriented error estimation and adaptivity to design and implement an efficient adaptive algorithm for approximating linear quantities of interest derived from solutions to ...elliptic partial differential equations (PDEs) with parametric or uncertain inputs. In the algorithm, the stochastic Galerkin finite element method (sGFEM) is used to approximate the solutions to primal and dual problems that depend on a countably infinite number of uncertain parameters. Adaptive refinement is guided by an innovative strategy that combines the error reduction indicators computed for spatial and parametric components of the primal and dual solutions. The key theoretical ingredient is a novel two-level a posteriori estimate of the energy error in sGFEM approximations. We prove that this error estimate is reliable and efficient. The effectiveness of the goal-oriented error estimation strategy and the performance of the goal-oriented adaptive algorithm are tested numerically for three representative model problems with parametric coefficients and for three quantities of interest (including the approximation of pointwise values).

We present the application of adjoint analysis to 3-D finite-element method scattering problems for a posteriori error estimation and adaptive refinement. Adjoint-based methodologies, though ...underutilized in computational electromagnetics (CEM), enable significant improvements for both efficiency and accuracy. We first formulate the adjoint problem of the 3-D double-curl wave equation and the error estimates for the construction of novel accelerated adaptive refinement algorithms. We demonstrate adaptive error control for a customizable quantity of interest (QoI) resulting in targeted refinement and improved resource allocation through the application of automatic global and local error tolerance heuristics that accelerate the refinement process. The proposed refinement algorithms rapidly refine even extremely coarse initial discretizations to high accuracy, eliminating or substantially reducing manual intervention in the generation of computationally efficient and accurate simulations. Moreover, comparisons with analytical results validate our approach to accelerating automatic refinement to fine tolerances.
Discriminant validity was originally presented as a set of empirical criteria that can be assessed from multitrait-multimethod (MTMM) matrices. Because datasets used by applied researchers rarely ...lend themselves to MTMM analysis, the need to assess discriminant validity in empirical research has led to the introduction of numerous techniques, some of which have been introduced in an ad hoc manner and without rigorous methodological support. We review various definitions of and techniques for assessing discriminant validity and provide a generalized definition of discriminant validity based on the correlation between two measures after measurement error has been considered. We then review techniques that have been proposed for discriminant validity assessment, demonstrating some problems and equivalencies of these techniques that have gone unnoticed by prior research. Abstract The three-component magnetic sensor is used to measure the heading of the vehicle. Under working, the magnetic sensor be rotated to the horizontal plane according to the attitude angle of ...the vehicle, and then the heading estimation is performed. However, the vehicle’s attitude angle measurement errors affect the accuracy of the magnetic sensor measurement’s east and north components and then lead to a false heading result. Based on the relation of magnetic field measurement error and magnetic heading error, the effect model of geomagnetic measurement error on magnetic heading error is derived in this paper. Finally, the characteristics of attitude angle errors on magnetic heading are verified by experiments, and the results show that particular angles can avoid the magnetic compass’s effect by the vehicle’s attitude angle error.
