Machine learning models trained on sensitive real-world data promise improvements to everything from medical screening to disease outbreak discovery. In many application domains, learning ...participants would benefit from pooling their private datasets, training precise machine learning models on the aggregate data, and sharing the profits of using these models. Considering privacy and security concerns often prevent participants from contributing sensitive data for training, researchers proposed several techniques to achieve data privacy in federated learning systems. However, such techniques are susceptible to causative attacks, whereby malicious participants can inject false training results with the aim of corrupting the well-learned model. To end this, in this paper, we propose a new privacy-preserving federated learning scheme that guarantees the integrity of deep learning processes. Based on the Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), we design a training-integrity protocol for this scheme, in which causative attacks can be detected. Thus, each participant is compelled to execute the privacy-preserving learning algorithm of the scheme correctly. We evaluate the performance of our scheme by prototype implementations. The experimental result shows that the scheme is training-integrity and practical.

Gruesome Spectacles tells the sobering history of botched, mismanaged, and painful executions in the U.S. from 1890 to the present. Since the book's initial publication in 2014, the cruel and unusual ...executions of a number of people on death row, including Clayton Lockett in Oklahoma and Joseph Wood in Arizona, have made headlines and renewed vigorous debate surrounding the death penalty in America. Austin Sarat's book instantly became an essential resource for citizens, scholars, and lawmakers interested in capital punishment—even the Supreme Court, which cited the book in its recent opinion, Glossip v. Gross. Now in paperback, the book includes a new preface outlining the latest twists and turns in the death penalty debate, including the recent galvanization of citizens and leaders alike as recent botched executions have unfolded in the press. Sarat argues that unlike in the past, today's botched executions seem less like inexplicable mishaps and more like the latest symptoms of a death penalty machinery in disarray. Gruesome Spectacles traces the historical evolution of methods of execution, from hanging or firing squad to electrocution to gas and lethal injection. Even though each of these technologies was developed to "perfect" state killing by decreasing the chance of a cruel death, an estimated three percent of all American executions went awry in one way or another. Sarat recounts the gripping and truly gruesome stories of some of these deaths—stories obscured by history and to some extent, the popular press.
•We have formulated our multi-objective scheduling problem in the form of mathematical model and defined the objective function & fitness function.•Resource allocation model has been designed for ...processing the applications/tasks in efficient way.•We relate our scheduling problem with PSO based algorithm for scheduling the tasks at running virtual machine. We have modified the PSO algorithm name as PSO-COGENT that allocates the task to resource in optimal way.•Finally developed PSO-COGENT algorithm optimizes the parameters (execution time, makespan time, execution cost, energy consumption, task rejection ratio and throughput) based upon the defined fitness function while considering deadline as constraint.•Developed PSO-COGENT algorithm is simulated at cloudsim simulator to validate and optimize the parameters using independent random tasks. Cloudsim demonstrated that whatever simulation condition is near to the real environment developed PSO-COGENT algorithm performs better than existing PSO, Honey Bee and Min-Min.
The main goal of cloud service provider is to maximize the profit from cloud infrastructure, while cloud users want to execute their applications in minimum execution cost and time. The rapid growth in demand of computational power invites the massive growth in cloud data centers and requirement of large amount of energy consumption in cloud data centers, becomes a serious threat to the environment. To reduce the energy consumption and gain the maximum profit in cloud environment is a challenging problem due to incompatibility between workstation (physical machine) and unpredictable user demand. In this paper, we have proposed a resource allocation model for processing the applications efficiently and Particle Swarm Optimization based scheduling (PSO) algorithm named as PSO-COGENT algorithm that not only optimize execution cost and time but also reduces the energy consumption of cloud data centers, considering deadline as constraint. The developed PSO-COGENT algorithm has been simulated at cloudsim and observed that it reduces the execution time, execution cost, task rejection ratio, energy consumption and increase the throughput in comparison to PSO, honey bee and min-min algorithm.

The relevance of the present study is confirmed by the need for implementing technologies of program code, controlled execution for general-purpose systems and for systems, which are used in critical ...information infrastructure (CII). Technologies for implementing secure execution environments are one of the modern security mechanisms for protecting against the exploitation of vulnerabilities and ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of information. Approaches to the implementation of trusted program code execution and controlled software execution has been investigated. The advantages, disadvantages and limitations of the use of existing solutions are discussed. Aspects and methods for implementing this type of runtime environment, using the standard features of the GNU/Linux OS kernel are reviewed. A new method was introduced for implementing secured real-time code execution environments in the GNU/Linux OS family, expanding the capabilities of existing solutions for creating secure execution environments without using proprietary technologies. The obtained results can be considered for use in hardware-software systems and embedded systems under GNU/Linux OS.
Mass-customization production (MCP) companies must fight with shop-floor uncertainty and complexity caused by wide variety of product components. The research is motivated by a typical MCP company ...that has experienced inefficient scheduling due to paper-based identification and manual data collection. This paper presents an RFID-enabled real-time manufacturing execution system (RT-MES). RFID devices are deployed systematically on the shop-floor to track and trace manufacturing objects and collect real-time production data. Disturbances are identified and controlled within RT-MES. Planning and scheduling decisions are more practically and precisely made and executed. Online facilities are provided to visualize and manage real-time dynamics of shop-floor WIP (work-in-progress) items. A case study is reported in a collaborating company which manufactures large-scale and heavy-duty machineries. The efficiency and effectiveness of the proposed RT-MES are evaluated with real-life industrial data for shop-floor production management in terms of workers, machines and materials.
► RFID technology is deployed to MCP concerned manufacturing objects to capture real-time data. ► Disturbances are captured by RFID to form a real-time adaptive decision mode. ► Any movements of materials are captured by RFID and WIP inventory level is reduced finally.
