This study was geared towards the development of folk-dance videos for e-learning through folk dance tutorial videos for physical education instructors and folk-dance trainers/choreographers to ...determine the level of development in terms of acceptability, usability, and relevance. The study utilized a descriptive survey design which allows us to reveal the level of development of the developed folk dance videos for e-learning. We also developed a dance that had been used as a video tutorial wherein we have performed and recorded for the respondents to follow. A survey questionnaire was done to know what is the level of development of the developed and validated folk dance videos for e-learning. Findings revealed that the folk-dance videos for e-learning developed by we are excellent and meet above 75-90% acceptability, usability, and relevance standards. This study can conclude that the developed videos for e-learning were an effective tool in teaching dance to the students wherein the developed videos are acceptable, useful and relevant. It gives opportunity for the physical education instructors and folk-dance trainers/choreographers to have their time to develop their dance skills and it would lessen their task to teach students because the video is pre-recorded and their students can learn from it without them physically.
A prominent figure in national ballet, Oleg Danovski is one of the personalities of 20th century ballet. He gave the world a vast repertoire consisting of classical, neoclassical, modern ballets, ...Romanian ballets, and divertimentos for operas. Despite his success with classical ballet staging that would make him famous abroad, the choreographer also turned his attention to folklore, by addressing specific local themes. Thus, through this desire to study and stylize the folk dance, he brought an important contribution to the Romanian cultivated dance, from which the image of the Romanian character dance would stem. He was devoted to the idea of Romanian ballet theater and he advocated for original music for ballet, a national repertoire and the development of the Romanian ballet school. His Romanian creations are precious pages of the history of Romanian ballet that should not be forgotten, and that have enormously contributed to the enrichment of the original choreographic repertoire.
In this paper, based on the practical framework of teaching folk dance in colleges and universities under the background of big data, the spatial and temporal characteristics of folk dance are sorted ...out, and the DTW algorithm is proposed to calculate the similarity of folk dance movements, and a model for estimating the gesture of normative movements of folk dance is constructed by combining multiscale feature fusion. Six kinds of folk dance movements were collected to establish the data samples of folk dance movements in order to verify the effectiveness of the calculation method of dance movement similarity and to obtain the results of the teaching of folk dance normative movements. Analyze the content of dance movements and the dance normative movement gesture estimation method to explore the expressiveness of folk dance movements. To research the effectiveness of emotional dance movement teaching in teaching folk dance in two dimensions, three segments of folk dance were chosen. The data show that the second segment of the dance, M=9.45, SD=2.15, was improved to M=11.55, SD=3.16. Affective dance movement teaching has a significant impact on the teaching of folk dance in colleges and universities, with improvements in both dance movement and dance expression.
In this paper, we first use CNNS to collect rich samples of folk dance music, establish a model framework and a functional system framework, and conduct a comprehensive process analysis of the music. ...Then, the instrumental features, frequency features, and timbre features are extracted to obtain the spectral information. In the stage of chord analysis and encoding, a multivariate chord encoding model is established based on the acquired spectral information, including two parts: chord representation preprocessing and chord encoding. By utilizing this model, the chord structure of music was successfully and accurately encoded, allowing for analysis with up to 98% accuracy. Furthermore, significant recall results were achieved, reaching over 0.9, which suggests that the extracted chord features are highly reliable and accurate in recognizing musical chord information.
In the quest to safeguard and revitalize folk dance heritage, this study explores the transformative potential of virtual reality (VR) technology. We developed an immersive display system using the ...Unreal game engine, incorporating a dance movement database, virtual reality immersion, and precise inertial motion capture. This innovative approach captivates users with an immersive folk dance experience and boasts a high motion recognition accuracy (99.51%) and an overall accuracy of 96%. Comparative experiments highlight VR’s advantages in making folk dance education more interactive and enjoyable without sacrificing ease of use. Virtual reality emerges as a vital tool in engaging new generations with folk dance, suggesting a vibrant future for intangible cultural heritage preservation.

Some triple-beat forms in Scandinavian Folk Music are characterized by non-isochronous beat durations: asymmetric beats. Theorists of folk music have suggested that the variability of rhythmic ...figures and asymmetric metre are fundamental to these forms. The aim of this study is to obtain a deeper understanding of the relationship between melodic structure and asymmetric metre by analysing semi-automatically annotated performances. Our study considers archive and contemporary recordings of fiddlers' different versions of the same musical pieces: polska tunes in a local Swedish tradition. Results show that asymmetric beat patterns are consistent between performances and that they correspond with structural features of rhythmic figures, such as the note density within beats. The present study goes beyond previous work by exploring the use of a state-of-the-art automatic music notation tool in a corpus study of Swedish traditional music, and by employing statistical methods for a comparative analysis of performances across different players.

Considering the necessity of cultural continuity; the function of cultural venues is needed to be examined as the places where culture is produced and transmitted in the field of folk dances as well ...as in other cultural areas. At this point, with concern of cultural values being vanishing as the places where culture is kept alive and transferred to the future generations, comes the concern of culture vanishing itself. Two seperate contracts being signed by Unesco in 2003 and 2005 regarding the protection of cultural heritage also validates that opinion as Unesco mainly aiming the protection of cultural diversity and heritage, considering the function of cultural space as one of the most important elements of this activity. Venues of social life in traditional cultural structure of folk dances are places where traditional celebrations and rituals are created and kept alive such as birth, circumcision, marriage, vintage and spring festival tradition. These places are subject to a rapid change and transformation by the effects of todays both global and local conditions and affects. Changing life conditions combined with differences in global and local culture has generated new dimensions in culture and place interaction, and tradition still continues in these transformed venues. Today, the importance of cultural venues in the transfer of folk culture to new generations is more significant than ever considering the negative effects of urbanisation, technological developement and globalisation on cultural continuity and diversity. In this paper; the function and transformation of cultural venues is examined and discussed in terms of culture, place and human.
Lower limb injuries in dancers are a very common complication preventing them from maximizing their performance or even causing one to end their dance career. The aim of this study was to investigate ...the dynamic stability using the Y-balance test (YBT) in professional folk dancers in comparison with the non-dancers. The study involved 30 folk dancers from the Urpin Folk Group and a control sample of 30 individuals from the general. Analysis of the results showed no statistically significant difference between the folklorist group and the control group in the anterior direction. However, the differences between groups were statistically significant for the posteromedial direction with the medium effect size for both legs and for the posterolateral direction with the strong effect size for both legs. The differences in the composite score for the right leg were not statistically significant with the small effect size, yet the difference in the left leg in the composite score was statistically significant with the strong effect. The results of the study indicate that folk dancers present poorer dynamic balance compared to the general population.

The main purpose of the article is to confirm an alternative hypothesis about the existence of significant differences between Chinese and Japanese folk dances, as well as to study the perception of ...East Asian folk dances by people of different nationalities. The main comparable variables were the number and nature of arm and leg movements, head and hip tilts, and smoothness of movement. The materials obtained in the course of this study are eight samples with characteristics of folk solo and group dances of China and Japan performed by female and male dance groups. The obtained results indicate significant differences in the aesthetic principles of Chinese and Japanese folk dances for eight out of ten selected characteristics. All obtained data were checked for compliance with the normal distribution law using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The main analysis of the obtained samples was carried out using the two-sample Shapiro-Wilk test for independent values. The results obtained indicate a low level of potential viewers’ awareness of the culture and traditions of China and Japan, despite the existence of significant differences between the choreography of these nationalities. The basic data and methodology of the present research can serve as a basis for further research in the field of dance performances. In addition, the results of the work can be relevant for conducting education al activities in order to familiarize people with the traditions of China and Japan (in particular, dance).
Ovo istraživanje sadrži komparativnu analizu izvedbi raznih kineskih i japanskih narodnih plesova, odnosno solističkih i grupnih izvedbi žena i muškaraca.
