‘Translanguaging’ is nowadays an umbrella term referring to either the framework of ‘spontaneous translanguaging’ from the United States or that of ‘pedagogical translanguaging’ from the Basque ...Country. Both these frameworks propose ways of integrating languages in school, but they adopt very different perspectives on multilingualism, language education and minority languages. This article starts out with a discussion of spontaneous and pedagogical translanguaging as related to their sociolinguistic and educational contexts and a discussion of multilingualism in Sweden. This is followed by a critical review of academic publications on translanguaging published by researchers affiliated to Swedish universities between 2017 – the year in which the distinction between spontaneous and pedagogical translanguaging is featured in the literature – and 2023. The analysis shows that whereas spontaneous translanguaging is highly influential, pedagogical translanguaging generally plays a very understated role. Linked to the current discourse about multilingualism in Sweden, most researchers discuss translanguaging in relation to the social inclusion of students with a foreign background, who are referred to as ‘the multilingual students’, rather than to teaching languages to the whole student population. A central goal of the Swedish educational system, however, is to promote all students' multilingualism by teaching multiple languages, including foreign languages as well as any official or immigrant minority language a student uses at home. We call, therefore, for more attention to pedagogical translanguaging and we claim the importance of adapting translanguaging to the challenges of each society.

Abstract
Technology is rapidly changing the world around us and thus, there is a need to adjust education by teaching children skills that are required in the fast-paced digital life. One ...problem-solving skillset, which has gained considerable attention in the last couple of years, is computational thinking (CT). Up to now, many countries have already implemented CT as an integral part of their education curricula, however, there is still often the misconception that teaching CT requires high technical effort and profound knowledge of computer science. Whereas CT is useful in any subject, it is not necessarily linked to technology and helps children to tackle problems by applying skills that are used in computer science. One effective hands-on approach to foster CT in every subject is modeling. A model is a simplified and reduced version of the real world and modeling is the process of creating it. In this paper, the authors focus on fostering CT skills with models from the field of computer science (CS) in foreign language teaching. The authors present several CS models, that have proven to be useful in language teaching, demonstrate how this approach can foster CT skills and give an insight into their research.
In the process of learning a foreign language for specific purposes, the most suitable, adequate, and innovative approaches are constantly being sought, concerning how and which/what additional ...(supplementary) materials contribute to more effective 1) subject and 2) language content learning, as well as concerning easy knowledge transfer - from the native to the foreign language. The following paper examines the importance of various content components and illustrative materials as supporting engineering students’ foreign language teaching and learning. By means of an exploratory survey (survey card), the opinion of the students was collected and analyzed, which is indicative of the materials suitable for application in a working environment in their relation with the conceptual apparatus in the studied material in the native and foreign languages.

The article discusses the didactic potential of the English-language guide ‘Awesome Ukraine’. In particular, publications dedicated to Lviv, Kharkiv, and Kyiv were analyzed. An editorial analysis was ...also conducted to determine the specifics of printing, compliance with standards, linguistic features of publications, the level of text content, completeness and appropriateness of illustrative content, i. e. the factors that make the ‘Awesome Ukraine’ series one of the examples of didactic material. Such competencies are neccessary for the bachelor course students in all hospitality programs. In addition, the authors propose types of tasks that will promote better mastering of the material in a foreign language and the acquisition of knowledge of local lore. In the process of learning a foreign language, local lore material can create strong practical skills and abilities to use the language as a means of communication, to provide additional opportunities for further professional growth for the tourism and hospitality professionals. The article proves that the visual and textual components of the researched guides allow to practice techniques of effective professional communication. The material of the publication and the way of its presentation and design can teach tactics and strategies of professional communication, taking into account the essence of national stereotypes of behavior and national and cultural symbols. The research emphasizes that while adopting English-language guides, the specifics of the target audience should be also taken into consideration. However, given the use of these publications as didactic material, we emphasize that the Awesome Ukraine series is suitable for teaching students at the PreIntermediate and Intermediate levels. With the right approach and proper presentation, an Englishlanguage guide can be a powerful source of linguistic and methodological assistance. After all, students not only learn local lore information, but also adopt the way of presenting ideas, the necessary language patterns, learn to apply them in practice by creating their own similar texts. Provided that the future specialist will have to create travel products, the Awesome Ukraine series is a good example to follow. From the point of view of polygraphic design, it should be emphasized that all editions are to acquire a homogeneous design, meaning the each city symbol is to be placed on the cover. The textual content is concise, simple and accessible in English. The materials are illustrated with a thematic photo, which is designed to illustrate the text. The publications are quite competent and created in accordance with publishing standards, embody a well-thought-out concept of presenting textual and illustrative material, crucial for acquiring foreign language competences. The researched guides are a rich source for creating specific didactic exercises necessary for studying the courses, such as «Foreign language for professional purposes» and «Foreign language for special purposes», provided by the bachelor’s program in «Hotel and restaurant business» and «Tourism».
Language laboratory is one of media and teaching aids that cannot be separated from the foreign language teaching. The existence of language laboratory in such schools are considered as vital and ...essential things. It also becomes trend, culture, and alternative requirement to support the instructional process. Good and representative language laboratory that provides a number of educational objectives can bring in interesting instructional activities. Moreover, it can be the fascinating devices equipping students in learning foreign language. This article will review and provide a framework for some informations and overviews of language laboratory, the main principles and guidelines for managing language laboratory, and explain how these principles can be applied for foreign language teaching. At the end of this article, it is suggested that either foreign language teacher or language laboratory manager along with school principals cooperate in maximizing the language laboratory as a means of supporting technology-based foreign language instructions.Keywords: language laboratory, management, technology-based, foreign language teaching.
Although it has been suggested that motivated teachers would be more dedicated and effective in teaching/learning process, further studies need to carried out to highlight this issue. Thus, the ...current study investigated the factors that affect the motivation of foreign language teachers. The study applied a qualitative design with a purposeful sample of 117 English of Foreign Language (EFL) instructors working at a School of Foreign Languages, at a state university in Turkey. Participants were asked to write down and briefly explain the factors that affect their motivation positively and negatively. Content analysis was applied to determine themes from the data. Data was categorized considering the factors affecting teacher motivation reported in the related literature. Results revealed that EFL teachers’ motivation is affected by various factors including the teaching environment, the workplace, collegial relations, and students.
