As elongated indentations or valleys in a wetland caused by tidal currents, tidal creeks act as drainage pathways and promote tidal flat evolution. Determining their geometric information is ...essential for topographical research of tidal flats. The airborne light detection and ranging (LiDAR) system has been the most efficient surveying technique in tidal topography because it can directly acquire precise geo-referenced point clouds for wide areas. Existing tidal creek extraction methods using airborne LiDAR data have limitations such as excessive user intervention, lack of adaptability to various shapes and sizes of tidal creeks, and decreased precision due to conversion to the digital elevation model. This study aims to overcome these limitations and effectively extract various types of tidal creeks by utilizing ground filtering which is a technique to filter off-ground objects (such as buildings, trees, etc.) in land LiDAR surveys. To derive a suitable method for tidal creek extraction, three verified ground filtering techniques, adaptive triangulated irregular network, gLiDAR, and cloth simulation filtering (CSF), were selected and tested using LiDAR point data. We modified the application procedure and optimized their parameters to enable tidal creek extraction. Our results confirmed that CSF can extract various tidal creeks with minimal user intervention. Finally, we calculated their depths and generated a tidal creek map.

The purpose of this paper is to report our experience of Descemet's stripping and non-Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK/nDSAEK) for microcorneas using 6.0 mm donor ...grafts.
Three eyes of two patients (a 56-year-old woman and a 59-year-old woman) with microcornea and suffering from bullous keratopathy were treated with either DSAEK or nDSAEK. A small donor graft (6.0 mm) was inserted into the anterior chamber using a double glide (Busin glide and intraocular lens sheet glide) donor insertion technique. Both patients were followed for at least 12 months. Clinical outcomes, including intraoperative and postoperative complications, visual acuity, and endothelial cell density were evaluated.
In all three cases (100%), no intraoperative complications were noted. In one case with a flat keratometry value (32.13 D), a partial donor detachment was noted one day postoperatively, but it was reattached by rebubbling. In another case, rejection was noted 8 months postoperatively, but treatment with systemic corticosteroids was successful. A clear cornea remained in all three cases (100%), with best-corrected visual acuity greater than 20/100 (mean 20/50) at 12 months. Mean postoperative endothelial cell counts were 2,603 ± 18 cells/mm(2) at 6 months (7.4% decrease from preoperative donor cell counts) and 1,799 ± 556 cells/mm(2) at 12 months (36.5% decrease).
We report for the first time the successful use of a small donor graft (6.0 mm) for DSAEK/nDSAEK in cases of microcornea. Additional stud ies using a large number of patients are required to evaluate fully the potential advantages and drawbacks of small diameter donor grafts for microcornea.
Some neurons and glial cells originate from neuroblasts and glioblasts, stem cells that delaminate from the ectoderm of developing fly embryos. A second class of glial cells and neurons ...differentiates from multipotent precursors, the neuroglioblasts. The differentiation of both glial cell types depends on glial cell deficient/glial cell missing (glide/gcm). Although it has been shown that this transcription factor promotes gliogenesis at the expense of neurogenesis, the cellular mechanisms underlying this fate choice are poorly understood. Using loss and gain of function glide/gcm mutations here we show that the cell fate choice takes place in the neuroglioblast, which divides and produces a glioblast and a neuroblast. Such choice requires the asymmetric distribution of glide/gcm RNA, which accumulates preferentially on one side of the neuroglioblast and is inherited by one cell, the presumptive glioblast. Interestingly, glial cells can differentiate from cells that delaminate as neuroglioblasts or they can arise from cells that start expressing glide/gcm several hours after delamination of a neuroblast. Altogether, these findings identify a novel type of asymmetric cell division and disclose the lineage relationships between glia and neurons. They also reveal the mode of action of the glide/gcm promoting factor.

All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
Där kan man se det på 2000-talet.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
