Gender studies have highlighted how policies and actions that are not drafted and planned with a gender perspective tend to produce a gender bias. Climate policies are not an exception. Measures to ...mitigate and adapt cities to climate change might lead to undesired outcomes regarding gender equality or, in contrast, may help to improve equality. Ideally, cities should prioritise actions that aim to reduce their carbon footprint but also help promote gender equality. The aim is to facilitate the inclusion of gender perspective in the 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 European Mission. We propose a Multicriteria Decision-Making Method to assess urban policies and relate them to climate and gender criteria. We describe urban decarbonisation policies with non-negative gender outcomes and compare their impact when using climate and gender criteria. The objective is to analyse how the prioritisation of actions varies from different perspectives: one taking into account the field of expertise of the different experts and the other taking into account the different typologies of criteria separately. A DEMATEL-ANP technique is used to determine how policies contribute to climate action and gender equality. Experts in different areas and city planning respond to the DEMATEL-ANP model by comparing and relating criteria and actions. The results show which policies have a significant potential to reduce cities’ carbon footprint and increase gender equality. Prioritisation of policies changes when only gender criteria or climate criteria are considered. Regarding the former, it can be concluded that gender criteria will contribute to closing the gender gap while having a widening impact on decarbonisation. Nevertheless, including gender criteria is not enough to avoid bias, and multidisciplinary teams must participate in the decision-making process.
•Examining climate–gender impacts in decarbonisation urban policies.•Using DEMATEL-ANP to assess policy effects on climate action and gender equality.•Three studies: complete, expertise-dependent, and climate–gender criteria separately.•Some policies result in promoting gender equality while reducing carbon footprint.•Gender criteria dual role: closing the gender gap, scaling impact on decarbonisation.

Introduction: There is a high incidence of self-harming behavior in the prison setting, with a suicide rate that is higher than that of the general population. Previous studies describe the ...association of sociodemographic, clinical, and criminological factors with the risk of suicide in the male prison population, but there is little research that specifically analyses suicidal behavior among women. The objective of this study is to analyze the characteristics of inmates who are admitted to a psychiatric unit for suicidal thoughts or attempted suicide. Material and method: Descriptive and comparative analysis of 97 inmates (68 men, 29 women) admitted to the Unidad de Hospitalización Psiquiátrica Penitenciaria de Cataluña (UHPP-C), for suicidal ideation, between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2022. Results: There are differences in terms of place of birth, with a more significant presence of African nationalities in non-national males, while foreign inmates tend to come from Latin American countries. Men have a lower mean age, longer admissions, and a higher readmission rate. They also suffer from more psychotic and addictive disorders. Women have a higher prevalence of personality disorders and affective symptoms. Conclusions: There are sociodemographic and clinical differences between male and female prison inmates who require admission for suicidal ideation. Including a gender perspective in studies on suicide risk in the prison population can provide a solid foundation for future studies, thus allowing a more complete understanding of suicidal ideation and intervention needs in the prison population.
The existence of rimpu in the Bima area has become a tradition, perception, and expression that indicates the awareness of women in cultivating local clothing without leaving the substance of Islamic ...teachings and carrying out their religious teachings. This research aims to examine the culture and existence of Bima women from a gender perspective. This research uses qualitative research with a literature study. The results show that the existence of rimpu for women is a means of expressing freedom for women by paying attention to theological and sociological values. Rimpu, which in the modern era has begun to erode and is in a dilemma with contemporary women’s styles, is less concerned about the cultural identity of their area. Therefore, rimpu is an encounter of Islamic teachings with local culture, requiring the involvement of all parties in preserving and caring for it as a local cultural identity

This paper explores the interconnections between the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and tourism from a gender perspective. It is the first paper to take a critical analysis of how SDG 5 relates ...to tourism, and how tourism and gender equality interconnects with the other SDGs. First, we analyse the recent gender sensitive sustainable development agenda in order to set out the challenges - both past and present - that any sector involved in sustainable development faces. We then explore the links between the SDGs and tourism development from a gender perspective. In the third part of the paper, based on the field experiences of the authors, we use the examples of SDG 6 ("clean water and sanitation") and SDG 8 ("sustainable economic growth and decent work") to highlight the interconnections between gender equality and the other SDGs. Finally, we suggest some tools to help tourism businesses improve their performance with respect to gender equality thereby enhancing their capacity to contribute towards the achievement of the SDGs. We argue that, without tackling gender equality in a meaningful and substantive way, tourism's potential to contribute to the SDGs will be reduced and sustainable tourism will remain an elusive "pot of gold".

This exploratory work analyzes the uses and attitudes of a sample of Spanish population towards urban green spaces (UGS), through a questionnaire that reviews aspects such as the perception they have ...before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The identification of profiles related to fear in UGS at night and the degree of user acceptance regarding services and disservices of these spaces will also be analyzed. Results show that the pandemic had a significant impact on the type of UGS visited and the activities carried out in them, due to the strict measures adopted by the government to manage the crisis, which included the closure of UGS. The segmentation analysis developed to assess the socio-demographic profile of fear revealed that women under 40 years old are the most highly likely to be afraid due to darkness, loneliness or insecurity. Regarding the degree of acceptance, the confirmatory-factor analysis established different clusters according to the favorability towards UGS, rejection of the disservices caused by trees and intensity of the demand for the administration to carry out its functions. This analysis provides relevant information to be attended when rethinking and redesigning urban green spaces so that they accommodate the real needs of the population.
•The perceptions of the Spanish population towards urban green spaces are analyzed.•Pandemic had a great impact on the type of activities carried out in green areas.•Women under 40 is the profile most highly likely to be afraid at night in UGS.•Users expressed a high favorability and demand for proper management of green spaces.
