The Upanayan programme is a product of Indchem Research and Development Laboratory, a scientific association recognized by Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology. The objective of ...the project was to develop a computer assisted programme for the training of persons with mental retardation. The project was executed by an inter disciplinary team of experts. The focus of the training programme is the mother who is the intervening agent. The programme, developed in the first phase of the project, is an expert system for the infant stimulation and early intervention process for children below 2 years of age with the disability. The system comprises of: (i) a development check list of skills for assessment and programming, (ii) a profile to record the observations, (iii) intervention strategies in the form of activities to acquire all the skills in the check list. The programme is designed for the Indian socio-economic conditions and is available in the form of a printed manual, and also as a computer software. The two can be used independently of each other. The programme has been translated into Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Marathi. With this programme as the basis, a centre for early intervention, Madhuram Narayanan Centre for Exceptional Children--was set up in Madras about 3 years back. Presently 210 children are receiving training there. The Centre has evolved intervention strategies based on parental involvement, with salutary effect on the parents as well as on the children.
The purpose of the study was identified by the effort to complement the standard sports training programme with a portfolio of innovative means and methods to optimise the process of achieving ...performance in gymnastics competitions. The group of subjects investigated was female and consisted of 19 gymnasts, aged 10 - 12 years. They were tested initially and finally to determine the effects that going through the training program had on the analyzed indicators. The Matorin, Flamingo, Balance Plate Position Maintenance and the "Y" tests were used in the research. We used descriptive statistics (Arithmetic Mean, Standard Deviation, Median, Confidence Interval and Coefficient of Variation) and significance tests which were used to assess the statistical significance of the difference between the means for two sets of scores (STUDENT paired sample t-test and Wilcoxon test). Based on the results recorded, we identified a significant difference between the mean values for the two tests. Following the results obtained, we can confirm that they help to form an overall picture from the perspective of motor skills on gymnasts and that there is a significant effectiveness of the motor intervention program in the sports training process.

Title. Individualized programme to promote self‐care among older adults with asthma: randomized controlled trial.
Aim. This paper is a report of a trial to examine the effectiveness of ...individualized self‐care education programmes in older adults with moderate‐to‐severe asthma.
Background. Asthma is a common chronic disease in adults and a major cause of frequent work absences, emergency room visits, and hospitalization. The results of studies of self‐care education programmes have been largely supportive and suggest that they have positive outcomes for people with asthma. However, for older people with asthma, the effectiveness of computer‐aided, self‐learning video programmes has been controversial.
Methods. Older adult patients with asthma (N = 148) were randomly assigned to one of three groups: usual care, individualized education, or individualized education with peak flow monitoring, and followed for 6 months. Data were collected from January to December 2006. The variables studied included demographic data, asthma self‐care competence, asthma self‐efficacy, and asthma self‐care behaviour.
Findings. Patients in both individualized education groups reported higher asthma self‐care competence scores (F = 334·06 and 481·37, P < 0·001) and asthma self‐care and self‐efficacy scores (F = 104·08 and 68·42, P < 0·001) than patients in the usual care group. In addition, patients who received individualized education with peak flow monitoring had statistically significantly higher asthma self‐care behaviour and self‐efficacy scores (P < 0·001) and asthma control indicators (P = 0·025) than the education alone group. No differences were found among the three groups in unscheduled health service usage.
Conclusion. Our results suggest that individualized education helps older people with asthma to enhance their self‐care behaviours, manage their disease, and increase their quality of life.

Centre for Education and Rehabilitation of Physically Handicapped Children and Adolescents Kamnik (Zavod za usposabljanje invalidne mladine Kamnik; hereinafter: ZUIM) perform verified or ...state-approved programme the Rehabilitation practical programme. The programme is intended for all those young people, who have completed primary school education, but cannot continue regular schooling in secondary school programmes. The programme consists of several equivalent parts: education, practical work, training work, health, therapeutic, psychological, and other activities. For every beginner in the first month of education members of the operative team create an individualized programme, which includes individualized school work, individualized training programme, and other expert activities. The programme can last for 6 years maximum, it can however be completed earlier, when the operative team feels the training is no longer necessary. Progress of a young person is what matters the most, and if there is no progress, the training is brought to an end. Training of young people in the Rehabilitation practical programme is only the beginning. The country will have to start considering social enterprises, which are found elsewhere in the world, for example in Scandinavian countries and in the USA.
Many of the individualised programmes have conceptually much in common, but there is also a common link in the way they emphasise aspects such as a sequential structure, multisensory teaching, ...overlearning and the development of automaticity. Support approaches provide a degree of flexibility and choice on the part of the teacher and often do not need any specialist training. Children identify (analyse) the common phoneme in a set of words in which each word contains the phoneme under study. Games and interactive activities can be highly stimulating and motivating for children with dyslexia. Crossbow Education specialises in games for children with dyslexia, and produces activities on literacy, numeracy and study skills. Smart Kids produces a host of exciting and creative resources. It has expertise in the area of reading difficulties and has some innovative resources. TextHelp has a read‐back facility and a spellchecker which includes a dyslexic spellcheck option that searches for common dyslexic errors.
Although plasma donation by plasmapheresis is generally considered to be safe, there are still concerns about the long-term effects of intensive plasma donation on the levels of certain blood ...components, such as immunoglobulin G (IgG). The IPS study aims to assess donor safety during individualized plasma donation according to pre-donation IgG levels and body weight compared with plasma donation under current German guidelines.
This ongoing prospective multicenter study allows eligible donors to choose between an individualized plasma donation program or plasma donation according to current German guidelines. Adverse events (AEs), serious AEs (SAEs) and serum IgG levels are systematically documented for up to 12 years, with AE/SAE recording from study start until 8 months after the last donation on-study.
At data cut-off (30 th June 2019), 1,919,334 donations in 20,598 donors were documented. The donation-based incidence for all AEs/SAEs was 2.07% in the control group (n = 2155) and 2.22% in the individualized program group (n = 18,443). For related AEs/SAEs, incidences were 1.23% and 1.62%, respectively. Most AEs/SAEs were of mild or moderate severity; events related to venepuncture were most frequent (46.8%). The majority of withdrawals with known causes were due to non-medical reasons. After an initial drop, IgG levels remained stable for up to 10 years.
The results of this interim analysis showed no critical difference in donor safety between donors in an individualized program and those who donated according to current guidelines, supporting the concept of donor stratification by pre-donation IgG levels
•Individualizing plasmapheresis based on IgG levels does not affect donor safety.•Slightly higher donation-based incidence of AEs/SAEs than in control donors.•There is an increase in mild and moderate events directly related to plasma donation.•Overall, donation-based incidences compare favorably with published values.•Higher donation frequencies appear feasible for donors with high IgG levels.

The authors address concerns regarding manual-based treatments, highlighting the role of flexibility and creativity. A cognitive-behavioral therapy for youth anxiety called the Coping Cat program ...demonstrates the flexible application of manuals and emphasizes the importance of a child-centered, personalized approach that involves the child in the treatment process.
We review the historical debate about the assessment of psychotherapy outcome, along with the current status of outcome research. Although strides in statistical techniques have allowed us to ...conclude that psychotherapy is effective, we argue that typical statistical measurement does not allow researchers to demonstrate the complexity of change for individuals. We thus recommend that researchers include individualized and qualitative approaches in their assessments of psychotherapy outcome.
