This study presents a review of the state of the art on the conception of health from the indigenous and the western perspectives. The materials and methods used are circumscribed to an exploratory and descriptive qualitative design, in which, through a review of 51 scientific articles, the object of study is problematized. The results show the existence of epistemological tensions on the conception of health between the indigenous and the western perspectives. We conclude that these problems have led to an increase in health inequalities in terms of access to healthcare, according to the geographical and territorial location of the indigenous population. Likewise, we discuss how health care in indigenous territories is distinguished for being offered with a monocultural character, increasing the marginalization of the indigenous person. We argue that it is imperative to address health inequalities in the indigenous context, both in access to healthcare and in the forms of care provided to users, from an intercultural perspective.
This article, part of the Didactics of Languages-Cultures, focuses on the analysis of the strategies adopted by French language teachers working in the Department of Letters and Foreign Languages at ...the University of TISSEMSILT - Algeria, and this, in order to identify their perceptions regarding the use of the intercultural approach in the classroom. To this end, we will resort to a field survey through the realization of semi-structured interviews followed by an analysis of classroom practices.
The Algerian educational system has recently been experiencing an imperative implementation of digital technology. The teaching of foreign languages has benefited from several recommendations aimed at adapting learning situations to this evolution and promoting authentic intercultural communication. Given the importance of considering the intercultural dimension in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) classes, this research focuses on integrating it through pedagogical and digital scripting in order to develop understanding of literary texts. Through a descriptive analytical study based on participant observation and experimentation conducted with second year middle school learners, the study aims to investigate the contribution of this integration in authentic learning contexts.
Being a foreign language and an intercultural educator in an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context is full of complexities. With diverse sociocultural aspects in a context, it would be na ve to ...implement a set of global profile of culture to all contexts. Therefore, the present study is held to start to investigate complexities on teacher individual level in the implementation of intercultural approach to EFL in Indonesian context. The study strives to interlink between the teacher belief and the characteristics of an intercultural teacher to indicate a teacher personal positioning toward the intercultural pedagogy. Through the method of narrative inquiry and narrative analysis, the teachers narratives were collected by interviews and scrutinised. The study revealed that ambivalence and contradiction appeared in the teachers beliefs about intercultural pedagogy. It has premises that a teacher s positioning is affected by learning and teaching experiences, professional development, and personal experiences. Teaching context plays a central role in shaping the practices. The results show capacity building must be advocated and the identical studies must be replicated focusing on how a teacher develops intercultural communicative competence in order to bring quality of intercultural EFL pedagogy in Indonesia.
The ethical and political thinking of Axel Honneth—German philosopher and leading scholar in the third generation of Frankfurt School Critical Theorists—has garnered considerable attention since his ...seminal Struggle for Recognition. In his writings, Honneth seeks to demonstrate a new outlook for the relationship between the I, the Other, and We: a scheme in which the I and the Other would not be that of assimilation—but a peaceful We, while at the same time preserving their different value systems and identities. This was done by way of a three-tiered model of mutual recognition for understanding societal relations. On the other hand, Honneth’s theory has been criticized by critics such as Fraser and Pensky as Eurocentric, the implied normative superiority of which renders Honneth’s ethical theory prone to the exclusion of the “other” which he so adamantly seeks to affirm. This paper examines the extent to whichHonneth’s response to such critiques liberates his theory from its purported exclusionary and unethical orientation. Neither side of the debate, however, seems to put forth a final formulation of the relationship between the I and the We. In this vein, this research proposes a concretized account of recognition, necessitating, in turn, an interculturaland dialogical approach to this theory.
The goal of this article is to present an experience of teaching PLAc to the Warao indigenous people, in an ex-tension project at the Federal University of Pará (from January to December of 2018). ...Since 2014, the Warao are migrating from Venezuela to Brazil because of the economic crisis in their country. In order to favor the relations between the Warao and the Brazilian society, we started to teach portuguese to them at the shelter where they lived. For the PLAc teaching, we used the communicative and intercultural approaches based on authors such as Caels (2016), Lopez (2016), Costa and Taño (2017), Cardoso (2018), São Bernardo and Barbosa (2018) and Bulegon and Soares (2019). The reflections made indicate that it is essential to know and value the students’ sociolinguistic profile, as well as make room for them to reflect and promote actions with direct reflects in the daily life.

This study aims to analyse the notion of politeness through the collocations of the adjective polite and its Polish equivalents, i.e. grzeczny and uprzejmy, chosen as cultural keywords in order to ...verify and expand the conclusions of my previous research on the noun politeness. The study has a double perspective. It is based on a linguistic corpus-based analysis of French politeness in a contrastive approach to French and Polish data. Also, the study considers ways of integrating such data into foreign language teaching. The research is carried out on three corpora: the French language corpus Frantext, the National Polish Language Corpus (NKJP) and the Leipzig Corpora Collection. The study includes the analysis of frequency classes of the three words and their most frequent collocations identified on the basis of different measures of association between co-occurring words. By integrating the results of this linguistic approach into language teaching, it is possible to clarify certain semantic subtleties of the words polite, grzeczny and uprzejmy and explain to the learners why these words are not perfect equivalents, or how linguistic analysis reveals cultural differences. Complex approach promoted in this paper may contribute to the development of the intercultural awareness in foreign language teaching and cultural mediation.
The paper presents the "state of the art" of the European Erasmus KA2 WIN project: Writing for Inclusion. After the introduction, dedicated to the themes of inclusion, from a pedagogical, ...anthropological and historical point of view, there are several in-depth studies dedicated to inclusive processes at school and in extra-school social contexts. Inclusion is not considered exclusively as the inclusion of disability in educational and work contexts, but it is considered as a transversal practice that we hope will become modus operandi in every daily experience, both individual and collective. This is a first article that presents the work already done within this Erasmus KA2 project and other future essays are expected to deepen and refine the topic. Keywords.
