The ongoing research conducted at the Department of Criminology at the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences into juvenile delinquency resulted in establishing a database of ...persons who appeared before family and juvenile court for a punishable offence before 2000. The database enabled the continuation of research into the fate of juvenile girls, including and offered a unique insight into the lives of those individuals who continued to break the law in their adulthood. Court files studies were the basis of the analysis of juvenile girls’ offending at the time. Since then, the convictions of the juveniles in question has been verified three times: in 2011 (, in 2016 (for the period 2011-2015) and in 2018 (for the years 2016 and 2017). 836 juvenile girls remained that qualified for the research covering the period 2017-2019. From among this group 167 females were convicted of a criminal offence as adults, which is every fifth juvenile female in the study. For the sake of the research the research team decided to do in-depth research on the group of women that committed at least three offences in their adulthood, for which they had at least two convictions. Such established framework yielded 64 records (7.7% of the total juveniles in the research).
The author’s goal was to determine the political role played by Lucius Cornelius Sulla in the Roman Republic in the nineties of the First Century BC. The author focused on the Sulla’s political ...career. He discussed the chronological issues associated with it, presented the reasons for Sulla’s resignation from the start to the edilship, he also presented in detail the genesis of Sulla’s struggle for praetura, Sulla’s exercise of this office and the beginning of the campaign for the consulate stopped by the outbreak of the Social War. According to the author of the article, an important event for the development of Sulla’s further political career was the breaking of the alliance with Gaius Marius and gradual approach to the Metellan factio ended with the conclusion of a formal alliance, sealed by Sulla and Cecilia Metella marriage.
Celem autora artykułu było określenie politycznej roli, jaką L. Korneliusz Sulla odgrywał w Republice Rzymskiej w latach dziewięćdziesiątych I wieku przed Chr. Autor skupił się przede wszystkim na karierze urzędniczej Sulli. Omówił kwestie chronologiczne z nią związane, przedstawił powody rezygnacji Sulli ze startu w wyborach na edyla, szczegółowo zaprezentował także genezę walki Sulli o uzyskanie pretury miejskiej, sprawowanie przez Sullę tego urzędu oraz początek kampanii o konsulat zahamowanej przez wybuch wojny ze sprzymierzeńcami.
Według autora artykułu ważnym wydarzeniem dla rozwoju dalszej kariery politycznej Sulli było zerwanie sojuszu z G. Mariuszem i stopniowe zbliżanie się do factio Metellusów zakończone zawarciem formalnego sojuszu, przypieczętowanego małżeństwem Sulli z Cecylią Metellą.

The most important factors responsible for development of an impressive career of Flavius Stilicho were: his family ties with Theodosians’ dynasty, the way he reorganized the Roman army, military ...victories, how he drummed up senate’s support for his political aims and the balanced policy of using and stopping the barbarian tribes. Protecting emperor Honorius, cooperating simultaneously with pagan and Christian fractions in the senate, achieving military success and defending borders of the Roman Empire against barbarians raids, Stilicho de facto was reigning the state in the name of his son-in-law, Honorius. Paradoxically, the same factors contributed to the downfall of the master-in-chief in 404-408 A.D. The conflict with his wife, Serena, and his son-in-law, Honorius, the mutiny in the army called-up by the reforms of Stilicho, some disagreements with the senate caused by the case of Melania the Younger and compensation for Alaric and, at last, the invasion of barbarian tribes on Gaul in 406 A.D. destroyed the carefully built career of Flavius Stilicho. He didn’t decide to keep his high rank by triggering off a civil war, what differed him clearly from his followers, Flavius Aetius and Flavius Ricimer.
Awans naukowy w Europie musi być realizowany systematycznie i umieszczony w jasno zdefiniowanych ramach czasowych; kariery akademickie są podzielone na porównywalne etapy, a każdy z nich musi być ...realizowany w określonym czasie. Najważniejsze kamienie milowe kariery akademickiej pozostają niezmienne. Podziały istniejące w Polsce nie są radykalnie silniejsze niż w innych częściach Europy. Wszędzie kariera naukowa jest długa, a dochodzenie do naukowej dojrzałości (i instytucjonalnej samodzielności) rozłożone w czasie. Wszędzie młodzi w nauce są wiekowo młodsi i w żadnym nie istnieją „szybkie ścieżki” w nauce. Tradycyjnym kamieniom milowym coraz częściej towarzyszą stałe, małe kroki, niemal nieustannie oceniane przez ciała złożone z przedstawicieli wspólnoty akademickiej i przez uczelnianą administrację. Z jednej strony kariera akademicka jest dziś znacznie mniej stabilna; nie sposób brać dziś w Europie za pewnik długoterminowego zatrudnienia akademickiego, szczególnie w przypadku nowo przyjętych w szeregi kadry akademickiej. Z drugiej jednak strony, kariera akademicka staje się bardziej przewidywalna dzięki silniejszym i bardziej sformalizowanym procesom oceny, którym są poddawane policzalne, porównywalne (zarówno w ramach dyscyplin naukowych w kraju, jak i między krajowymi systemami szkolnictwa wyższego) i międzynarodowo widzialne osiągnięcia badawcze. Tradycyjny kontrakt społeczny państwa z akademią oznaczał spory zakres wolności akademickiej, dużą wolność dysponowania własnym czasem, dużą stabilność zawodową i materialny status klasy średniej. Nowy kontrakt oznacza wycofywanie się państwa ze wszystkich gwarantowanych dotąd wymiarów pracy akademickiej: malejącą wolność akademicką (w sensie rosnącego nacisku na stosowalny, a nie podstawowy charakter badań), mniejszą stabilność zawodową, malejącą władzę dysponowania własnym czasem i spadający status materialny. Tradycyjne motywy prowadzenia badań - triada: curiosity, ribbon i gold - odgrywają taką samą rolę jak w poprzednich dekadach, ale pierwszy i trzeci podlegają systematycznym ograniczeniom.
In case of adult learners, the process of professional counselling, diagnosing of professional predispositions or providing support for learners in their professional career construction frequently ...requires the application of different methods and techniques than the ones applied in case of younger learners. In this article the author presents how Mark Savickas’ career construction theory and narrative career counselling are applied in the project titled From diagnosis to action in order to work out the model of innovative tool for diagnosing competences and professional predispositions of adult learners – that is the Diagnostic and Simulation Games Method’. The diagnostic and simulation games, developed on the basis of M. Savickas’ career construction theory, are the interactive and original work methods owing to which each adult learner may obtain many various answers to such questions as: which career to construct?, how to accomplish it? and what motivates me to act?
The main aim of the article is to describe career patterns of big city politicians who had been elected from lists of Civic Platform Party and Law and Justice Party, both parties that dominated ...Polish political scene. The authors try to answer in what way political career, local government career and socio‑economic status have affected the post held at the city council by representatives elected from both party lists. The authors formulate four hypotheses which concern the characteristics of the paths toward posts held by both parties’ representatives. The results of analysis show that paths towards posts are different and connected to the party. Law and Justice paths, whereparty career are very important, are more obvious and easer to interpretations. In the case of councilors who had represented Civic Platform relatively significant are local‑government careers.
