V prispevku sta obravnavani ljudska in narodnozabavna glasba z vidika razvoja njunih simbolnih pomenov za ožjo in širšo skupnost. V središču opazovanja glasbenih zvrsti, ki v sebi združujeta številne ...dihotomije, je prav migriranje oz. prehajanje pomenov, moralnih in estetskih vrednot iz enega obdobja v drugega, iz ene skupnosti v drugo ali iz enega družbenega sloja v drugega. Če je v 20. stoletju ljudska glasba predstavljala eno ključnih narodnoreprezentativnih vsebin, pa je v zadnjih desetletjih ta vloga poleg nje začela pripadati tudi narodnozabavni glasbi, saj je slednjo v svojo agendo začela sprejemati državna politika in jo s tem legitimirala kot nacionalnoreprezentativni simbol.
Članek analizira vlogo slovenskih služkinj, večinoma priseljenk iz slovenskega okoliškega bazena in bližnjih avstrijskih dežel, ob popisu prebivalstva leta 1910 v Trstu. Osredotoča se na njihovo ...avtonomno ravnanje glede na odvisni položaj znotraj gospodinjstev ter pritiske javnosti oz. slovenskih in italijanskih nacionalnih elit v mestu. Raziskava ob pomoči javnega diskurza, arhivskega gradiva in kvantitativne analize vzorca popisnih pol cenzusa sintetizira zlasti pomen podatkov, kot sta občevalni jezik in kraj izvora služkinj, in jih interpretativno umešča v kontekst (nacionalne) identitete.

The paper deals with travelogues written by women from the Slovene lands in the late 19th and the early 20th centuries. The primary focus is on the travelogues of Luiza Pesjak, Marica Strnad, Marica ...Gregorič Stepančič, Marija Kmet, and Alma Karlin. Women's travel has a special cultural status. Three aspects are considered in the article: genre peculiarities of the texts (purposes of travel, categories "one's own/other/foreign"), gender and national issues and the interconnection of them, as this this period when the struggle for the emancipation of women begins as well as the national identity actively takes shape.

The concept of heritage relates to the ways in which contemporary society uses the past as a social, political or economic resource. However, heritage is open to interpretation and its value may be ...perceived from differing perspectives - often reflecting divisions in society. Moreover, the schism between the cultural and economic uses of heritage also gives rise to potential conflicts of interest.
Examining these issues in depth, this book is the first sustained attempt to integrate the study of heritage into contemporary human geography. It is structured around three themes: the diversity of use and consumption of heritage as a multi-sold cultural and economic resource; the conflicts and tensions arising from this multiplicity of uses, producers and consumers; and the relationship between heritage and identity at a variety of scales.
Slovenski učitelji so imeli v času druge polovice 19. stoletja veliko vlogo pri oblikovanju in razvijanju narodne identitete Slovencev. Njihova vloga je še toliko pomembnejša, ker so v omenjenem času ...živeli znotraj avstrijske države, v kateri smo bili Slovenci razdeljeni po posameznih deželah. Uradni jezik je bila nemščina, kar je veljalo za vse uradne institucije, tudi za šole, kjer so slovenski učitelji poučevali v nemščini. izobraževanje učiteljev je na u učiteljiščih prav tako potekalo v nemščini in vzgoja je bila vzgoja k pripadnosti avstrijski državi. To dejstvo nam kaže, da so takratna učiteljišča, kjer so se šolali bodoči slovenski učitelji, vzgajala v nemškem in ne v slovenskem duhu, kar je bilo v skladu s takratno avstrijsko šolsko politiko. Vendar je bila nacionalna zavest slovenskih učiteljev na visoki ravni. Njihov glavni cilj je bil poleg spoštovanja zahtev avstrijske šolske politike tudi širjenje slovenskega jezika, kulture in tiska. Slovenska nacionalna prizadevanja so bila v šolah prepovedana, zato so jih širili pri svojem delovanju izven šol. Ustanavljali so svoja slovenska učiteljska društva, svoj tisk in s tem spodbujali k nacionalnemu in buditeljskemu delu. Skrbeli so za lastno izobraževanje in tudi za izobraževanje vsega slovenskega prebivalstva. Prizadevali so si za slovenske šole s slovenskim učnim jezikom, za slovenske učbenike in sploh za razvijanje nacionalne identitete Slovencev.
