Abstract
The tradition of immanent critique promises a lot. It promises to be critical of the existing social order without appealing to ‘external’ normative standards. I argue that the prospects for ...immanent criticism are bleak: they must either commit to an implausible social ontology, a flawed meta-normative theory, or both.
Whether Russia’s military and diplomatic commitments to Venezuela will change because of the Russia-Ukraine war poses a series of pressing questions for the sanctioned and isolated regime in Caracas. ...Carlos Solar argues that years of propaganda have allowed Caracas to control and execute a disinformation campaign that does not cast Moscow as the aggressor in the 2014 Crimea annexation or the current invasion of Ukraine. Given Russia’s and Venezuela’s previous records of global norms defiance, the war in Ukraine solidifies Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s anti-Western discourse, moving Caracas closer to other autocratic regimes and ultimately aiding their efforts in establishing a trilateral world order together with the US and China, in which the Kremlin has a leading role. ◼

In a series of important papers published roughly twenty years ago, Professor Robert Cooter developed a comprehensive economic theory of moral norms. He explained the value of those norms, described ...the process by which norms are adopted, and offered a set of predictions regarding the circumstances under which an individual will choose to adopt a particular moral norm. This brief Article applies behavioral law and economics and hedonic psychology to expand upon Professor Cooter’s path-breaking theory. In particular, understanding welfare in hedonic terms — rather than preference-satisfaction terms — suggests a multitude of further situations in which individuals will justifiably seek to internalize moral norms. The hedonic approach to welfare then further suggests an enhanced role for the government to play in encouraging the adoption of welfare-enhancing norms. Cooter’s theory, combined with modern understandings of welfare and human behavior, thus offers powerful predictive and prescriptive possibilities.
We consider systems of parabolic equations coupled in zero and first order terms. We establish Lipschitz estimates in Image omitted -norms, Image omitted, for the source in terms of the solution in a ...subdomain. The main tool is a family of appropriate Carleman estimates with general weights, in Lebesgue spaces, for nonhomogeneous parabolic systems.
We revisit some ideas from our previous article on social norms by conceptualizing norms as dynamic entities that both affect and are affected by human action; elaborating on the distinction between ...collective and perceived norms; summarizing key findings from studies that have adopted the theory of normative social behavior (TNSB) and thereby proposing guidelines for further expanding the purview of the TNSB; discussing the attribute‐centered approach as a framework for focusing on behavioral characteristics; and highlighting areas for further inquiry into social norms.

Let
$K$
be a (non-archimedean) local field and let
$F$
be the function field of a curve over
$K$
. Let
$D$
be a central simple algebra over
$F$
of period
$n$
and
$\unicodeSTIX{x1D706}\in F^{\ast }$
. ...We show that if
$n$
is coprime to the characteristic of the residue field of
$K$
and
$D\cdot (\unicodeSTIX{x1D706})=0$
in
$H^{3}(F,\unicodeSTIX{x1D707}_{n}^{\otimes 2})$
, then
$\unicodeSTIX{x1D706}$
is a reduced norm from
$D$
. This leads to a Hasse principle for the group
$\operatorname{SL}_{1}(D)$
, namely, an element
$\unicodeSTIX{x1D706}\in F^{\ast }$
is a reduced norm from
$D$
if and only if it is a reduced norm locally at all discrete valuations of
$F$
.
This paper finds some lower and upper bounds for the essential norm of the weighted composition operator from α -Bloch spaces to the weighted-type space superscriptHμ∞/superscript on the unit ball ...for the case α≥1 .
