This study aimed to cross-sectionally examine the association of work-related stressors and coping strategies with work engagement levels in a sample of nursery-school teachers. Questionnaires ...regarding work-related stressors, coping strategies, and work engagement were administered to 270 teachers. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that the levels of stressors regarding understanding children and compensation and the coping strategy of giving up were negatively associated with work engagement levels. Work engagement levels were significantly associated with the problem-solving coping strategy and stressors related to understanding children and differences between individual beliefs and school policies. Particularly, teachers adopting the problem-solving coping strategy to a greater extent exhibited a significant negative association between stressors regarding understanding children and work engagement levels. These findings suggested that the problem-solving coping strategy does not effectively enhance work engagement levels among teachers with greater work-related stressors regarding understanding children. Therefore, this strategy may not always be suitable for nursery-school teachers.【Research Impact】This study examines how nursery-school teachers should cope with work-related problems for work motivation. The results indicate that any coping strategies used by teachers with difficulty in understanding the behavior of children may be ineffective. Therefore, interventions should target the entire nursery school and individual teachers to increase work engagement.

A guideline published in 2018 by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare stipulated confirmation of the vaccine history of nursery staff members.
This study was conducted to elucidate nursery ...teachers' vaccine and infection histories for measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella through survey responses.
After sending questionnaires through the mail to 5000 nursery teachers in November 2022, we received responses through December 2022. We measured the proportion of susceptibility in three ways. Additionally, we compared the proportions of susceptibility by disease by age class.
After receiving 1620 responses in all, the data of 1229 respondents under 50 years old were analyzed. Under the broad definition by which “no answer” was also regarded as unvaccinated or uinfected as well as “unknown,” the proportions of susceptibility for measles, rubella, and varicella were higher: 22–23%. For mumps, the proportion was 42%. For varicella, they were 31% for respondents in their 30 s, and 14% for respondents in their 40 s. For mumps, the respective values were 58% and 26%.
Respondents assessed for this study were less susceptible and unknown in comparison with earlier studies investigating health care workers, school teachers, university students, and pregnant women.
The survey revealed that measles and rubella susceptibility was higher among respondents in their 30 s. However, it was higher for varicella and mumps among respondents in their 20 s.

Zusammenfassung
Hintergrund

The core of the monograph is the topic of the quality of work of a preschool teacher, especially in connection with the qualification requirements for this profession. It seeks answers to the ...questions: What characterizes the profession of a preschool teacher today and what is its perspective? How to design initial education so that preschool teachers are truly specialists in changing education? When searching for answers to these questions, the author uses a review of previous empirical findings on this topic in comparison with foreign experience. It presents the results of research focused on self/reflection in connection with the pedagogical performance of preschool teachers in selected aspects.

Hintergrund

This book presents a selection of survey and evaluation instruments for recording relevant facets of institutional (written) language education. The seven methods focus on different aspects of ...language education as well as language and reading promotion in day-care centres and schools and address different target groups (educational professionals, teachers, children). The instruments, which were developed within the framework of the initiative "Bildung durch Sprache und Schrift" (BiSS), are primarily for research purposes, but can also be used in the training and further education of educational specialists and teachers. An online appendix provides the instruments as well as all necessary materials.
The paper presents a study that aimed to establish the nature of the link between the value orientation of future nursery and elementary school teachers and the motivation for their career choice. ...Two instruments were used - the Schwartz Portrait Values Questionnaire (PVQ-21) and the Career Choice Scale. The findings suggest that the motivation for the respondents' career choice and their value orientation are relatively homogeneous, but also that two groups of students can be distinguished according to dominant motivating factors, and that these two groups also differ in their value priorities. Non-parametric correlation showed that each type of motivation reflected different values - in individuals whose dominant motivation was intrinsic, the values of benevolence, self-direction and achievement were more pronounced, while stronger altruistic motivation correlated with more pronounced values of benevolence and universalism. On the other hand, extrinsic motivation correlated with the values of hedonism and power, which the initial theoretical model locates at the opposite end to the values corresponding to altruistic motivation. The research findings are important for understanding the reasons behind nursery and elementary school teachers' career choice and the goals they are guided by in their life and work, and are also important for the career guidance process.
In French nursery schools, teachers take charge of the content organized into teaching areas. The prescribed teaching activity “Discovering the world of living things, objects and substances” refers ...to biology, physical sciences, chemistry and technology.
The children's learning path concerning these worlds represents the early stages of the science and technology curriculum. Many research studied these children's learning. This research focuses on teachers and aims at describing and analyzing the teaching periods dedicated to this particular area of early childhood education.
In a curriculum perspective, a research about the practices that consisted in reporting information both in teachers’ logs, reveals the contents, activities and issues associated with these educational experiences. There were two groups involved in this research, some teachers experienced in teaching in nursery school, and some beginners.
The first result is the lack of significant difference between the two groups: practices, contents taught, ways to take charge of the science and technology education (STE) are the same. Professional development is not observed here. The second result shows that biology is privileged and preferred to technology by teachers. The research also indicates that the scientific and technological curriculum is interconnected to other teaching paths. STE is given more or less importance depending on the priorities of each teacher. 4 different ways to take charge of the STE curriculum can be suggested with data analysis.
The research at last allows to discuss the professional training of preschool teachers in order to improve the teaching practices in science and technology.
