This qualitative study explored older adults’ feelings toward driving cessation, driving cessation preparedness, and the role CarFit may play in helping individuals ...prepare for driving cessation. The three themes discovered were loss of independence, lack of preparedness for driving cessation, and benefits of CarFit education. The key role OT practitioners can help play in helping older adults prepare for driving cessation based on findings will be reviewed.

La investigación tiene el objetivo de examinar los procesos institucionales y políticos de la sociedad hondureña desde la década de 1950 hasta la de 1980, que se relacionan con el inicio de la ...profesionalización del oficio de historiador y la organización de la carrera de Historia en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH) en el año 1976. Detalla algunos aspectos institucionales de la Universidad y los relaciona con un contexto social más amplio. Con ello se busca dar una mirada social de un fenómeno institucional como es la organización de la carrera de Historia. Se consultaron fuentes periodísticas, documentos internos de la Universidad (memorias, proyectos, actas) y se registraron algunos testimonios de actores que participaron en la organización y primeros años de funcionamiento. Al final, es notable que los docentes y funcionarios que dieron origen a la carrera tenían una intencionalidad clara de hacer de la historia una contribución de conocimiento crítico que cuestionara los discursos oficiales sobre la nación, algo considerado vital para la creación de una conciencia nacional popular. Este conocimiento, sin embargo, partiría también de ideas de la academia en boga en ese momento sobre el estudio estructural de fenómenos sociales. La originalidad residió en que a esto se unió una idea particular del quehacer científico como labor colectiva, trabajo de campo y proyección social que trascendiera las aulas universitarias.
ABSTRACT - Acts as Performance in the Occupation of the Urban Space: against a model of city for mega-events - This research focuses on the acts that took the streets of Rio de Janeiro between June ...2013 and July 2014. By perceiving the plurality of the activated forms of expression and the centrality of direct action in the practice of the protesters, I address these acts with reference to the notion of performance, considering especially the bodies which have occupied the urban space with their choreopolitics, theatres of invasion, polyphonic choirs, multiple writings, and the creation of Temporary Autonomous Zones always ready to re (in)ssurect. RÉSUMÉ - Actes comme Performance dans l'Occupation des Rues: contre un modèle de ville pour les grands évenements - Cette recherches, effectue de juin 2013 à juillet 2014, témoignant des actes qui ont eu lieux dans les rues de Rio de Janeiro, d'un point de vue à la fois esthétique et politique, perçus non seulement comme critiques àun modèle de ville destinée à de grands évenements, mais comme propositions pour un mode autre d'habiter la ville. Considérant la pluralité des formes d'expression mises en place et la centralité des actions directes exercées alors par les manifestants, nous relions de tels actes à la notion de performance, avec une attention particuliére aux corps qui ont occupé les rues avec leurs chorépolitiques, théâtres d'invasion, choeurs polyphoniques, les multiples écritures, et la création de Zones Autonomes Temporaires, toujours imminentes.
Based on data from the vitas of sixty-one major representatives of the Ottoman cultural milieu, who spent some or most of their professional careers in fifteenth-century Edirne, the following article ...aims to construct drafts of scholar profiles, common for the entire Devlet-i 'Aliyye-i 'Osmaniyye (Sublime Ottoman State). The two primary sources, 'Isam ad-Din Taskopruzade's biographical anthology Seka'iku'n-Nu'maniyye fi 'Ulema'i'd-Devleti'l-'Osmaniyye and its supplemented Ottoman translation, Mecdi Celebi's Hada'iku's-Seka'ik, contain hundreds of biographies organized in chronological layers in accordance with the reigns of the Ottoman sultans. For this study only the five layers corresponding to the sultanates of Bayezid I, Mehmed I, Murad II, Mehmed II, and Bayezid II have been "excavated." In order to reflect the scholars' mentalities and, occasionally, establish parallels with the lifestyles of their counterparts, this study analyzes the epoch of the scholars together with their life stories, developing a commentary on the ordinariness and extraordinariness of different scholar types.

The exploration of efficient broadband near-infrared (NIR) emitting materials is essential to establishing new NIR applications. In this work, an excellent NIR phosphor Mg7Ga2GeO12:Cr3+, with an ...emission band of 650–1350 nm and a full width at half maximum of 266 nm, was successfully prepared. When Ga3+ ions were replaced by In3+ ions, its emission intensity increased 4 times, and the internal and external quantum efficiency reached 86 and 37%, respectively. A NIR phosphor-converted light-emitting diode (pc-LED) component was made by combining a synthetic Mg7Ga1.84In0.07GeO12:0.09Cr3+ phosphor with a 450 nm blue luminescent chip. The vascular and skeletal distribution on human fingers and the back of the hand can be seen under the display of a commercial NIR camera, indicating that Mg7Ga1.84In0.07GeO12:0.09Cr3+ phosphors have promising applications in the field of the blood vessel and bone visualization.
