Gama-butirolakton (GBL) je zaradi lahke dostopnosti in nizke cene priljubljena rekreativna droga v nočnih klubih. Gre za prekurzor endogenega nevrotransmiterja, gama-hidroksibutirata (GHB), ki deluje ...kot agonist na receptorje GABAB in GHB v centralnem živčnem sistemu (CŽS). V nižjih odmerkih inhibira izločanje dopamina, povzroča evforične učinke in niža centralno inhibicijo. Višji odmerki spodbujajo izločanje opioidom podobnih substanc in povzročijo hitro depresijo CŽS. Odvisnost nastopi po nekaj tednih do mesecih vsakodnevne uporabe. Odtegnitev načeloma oponaša klinično sliko odtegnitve od alkohola in/ali benzodiazepinov. Predstavljamo primer odtegnitvenega sindroma od GBL, ki se je pokazal z razvojem delirija, zmedenostjo, halucinacijami in agitacijo. Zdravljenje vključuje visoke odmerke benzodiazepinov, po potrebi pa tudi barbiturate, antikonvulzive in antipsihotike.
Uvod: Nove psihoaktivne snovi so dokaj neraziskane in predstavljajo velik problem za našo družbo. Problem uživanja novih psihoaktivnih snovi se pojavlja v vseh starostnih skupinah, tudi med študenti. ...Namen raziskave je bil raziskati uporabo, odnos in poznavanje novih psihoaktivnih snovi med študenti.
Metode: Raziskava je temeljila na deskriptivni metodi kvantitativnega raziskovanja. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 311 študentov z dveh fakultet, ki izvajata študij zdravstvene nege, in fakultete s področja pedagoških poklicev. Podatki so bili obdelani s pomočjo deskriptivne, univariatne, bivariatne in multivariatne statistike.
Rezultati: Najbolj poznane nove psihoaktivne snovi so nekoliko starejše, kot so ekstazi (n = 26, 7,2 %), spid oziroma amfetamin (n = 26, 7,2 %) in LSD (n = 15, 4,06 %). Med fakultetami obstajajo razlike v poznavanju novih psihoaktivnih snovi (χ2(2) = 8,629, p = 0,013). Odnos do drog je med anketiranci večinoma pretirano kritičen ali moralističen. Nove psihoaktivne snovi uživa več kot desetina anketirancev (n = 42, 13,5 %). Anketiranci, ki uživajo drogo, večinoma prihajajo iz vaškega okolja (n = 29, 69,04 %), so kadilci (n = 33, 78,57 %) in uživajo alkoholne pijače (n = 37, 95,24 %).
Diskusija in zaključek: Za splošno poznavanje novih psihoaktivnih snovi so študentje premalo poučeni. Raziskava je pokazala potrebo po dodatnih izobraževanjih.

So setzen sich Konsumenten mit ihrem Verhalten manchmal ...wissend ins Unrecht, betrachten ihre Vergehen aber als "smarte Kavaliersdelikte". Zudem erliegen Menschen schädlichen Versuchungen und neigen zu Süchten. Schließlich agieren Verbraucher oft egoistischer oder weniger nachhaltig, als sie von sich selbst behaupten. Die Beiträge in diesem Buch knüpfen an dieses Generalthema an, widmen sich den dunklen Seiten und regen an, dass Nachfrager und Anbieter manche Verhaltensweisen überdenken und auch Gegenstrategien entwickeln sollten. Quality of life and alcohol consumption: a review of the literature Background: The Quality of Life concept was used to evaluate the impact of alcohol consumption. The purpose of this systematic ...literature review was to determine the topics analysed and the research methodology used in the field of quality of life and alcohol drinking. Methods: A search of the Medline database was conducted to find original research articles in English focusing on certain keywords, i.e. 'quality of life' and 'alcohol drinking', 'alcoholism' or 'alcohol-related disorders', published in the last 10 years, which included population above the age of 18. The abstracts of the resulting articles were screened to select articles focusing on the association between alcohol consumption and the quality of life. These articles were systematically reviewed and analysed for study method and research theme. Results: 27 articles were included in further analysis. The researchers focussed on two major themes - the link between quality of life and alcohol consumption in the general population and in patients dependent on alcohol. Most of the studies were cross-sectional or longitudinal non-interventional studies. Intervention studies were mostly done on a population addicted to alcohol. Qualitative research methods were not used. Conclusions: Quality of life is a relevant criterion for assessing the effects of alcohol consumption. There is a lack of qualitative research in this area. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT
