This study utilized a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach. This study aimed to determine the parents’ involvement in early childhood learning activities during the Covid-19 ...pandemic. Early childhood needs assistance during the learning process from home; therefore, the role of parents is very crucial since it gives a long-term impact on children's development. Changes in the atmosphere and climate of learning activities from the classroom to the home centainly bring new challenges. Respondents in this research were 102 parents with 4-6 years old-children in Pekanbaru. The samples were selected by using random sampling technique. The data analysis was presented in table. Overall, the results of the study on parents’ involvement which consisted of three indicators (parents' motivation, parents' perceptions of other people's invitations to be involved in children's education, and parents’ feeling) was generally high. This indicated that parents possessed good motivation to assist children in learning by understanding their important role and having confidence in accompanying childrens’ learning activities.
This study assessed the parents’ competency, involvement in modular instructions, the implementation of distance learning modality, and its relationship to the healthy development of the students. ...The study utilized a descriptive- correlation design with 280 grade six students from a public elementary school in the Schools Division of Quezon for the School Year 2021-2022. The samples were mostly children of married, high school graduate parents and majority were twelve-year old female students. The results showed that the parents are ‘much competent’ in facilitating modular instructions in terms of knowledge, attitudes, and practices. Meanwhile, the parents are ‘very often’ involved in facilitating modular instructions in terms of school work support, financial support, and moral support. On the other hand, the intermediate students agree on the level of personality development in terms of motivation, self-esteem, and self-reliance, signifying positive effects of parental involvement on students’ personality development. Furthermore, there is a very strong significant positive relationship between the parental competencies and involvement and the personality development interpreted of the students. The results imply on the importance of parental involvement in the personality development of the children specially during the absence of face to face classes.
This piece of research reflections addresses an important part of parents’ training and professional development, which unfortunately was overlooked previously. After reviewing opinion papers, ...program descriptions, theoretical frameworks, empirical studies, literature reviews on parental involvement, the study found a substantial gap in research, programs, and practice. The literature on parents’ involvement and its barriers, the study presents epistemological foundations for the overlooked part of parents’ training. The study recommends Internet Coupled Information and Communication Technologies (ICICTs) based parents’ training with synchronous and asynchronous modes providing quality content for enhancing parents’ knowledge, skills, and competence in educational aspects. These trainings on educational aspects target to create common knowledge constructs that can facilitate parents and teachers to establish complementary communication; leading to effective parental involvement beneficial for children and schools in the effective implementation of the whole-child approach. As parents' knowledge, skills, and competencies in educational aspects grow, it will increase their involvement, assistance, and interaction with their children and the school. Enhanced technology skills can also help parents overcome barriers that hindered their involvement in children education.
The goal of this research was to explore the perceptions of cooperation between preschool institutions and parents within Early Childhood Environmental Education activities, primarily within the ...dimension of including parents in preschool activities. In the theoretical framework of the study, we discuss the major aspects of cooperation between families and preschool institutions and the significance of learning about the environment for the cooperation process. Many authors agree that cooperation between families and preschool institutions comprises the following dimensions: information sharing between preschool teachers and parents, including parents in preschool activities, parents’ involvement in supporting the child’s development at home, and parents’ participation in preschool institutions executive bodies. In this paper, we focus on the dimension of including parents in preschool activities through Early Childhood Environmental Education. The results show that the majority of questionnaire items exposed statistically significant differences between the perception of parents and the perception of preschool teachers when it comes to including parents in Early Childhood Environmental Education activities. We consider that a series of planned actions is necessary for including as many parents as possible in the Early Childhood Environmental Education activities. One of the main reasons for such an initiative is the veracity of such activities and the possibility for children to create and develop their creative abilities through research.

Self-determination is essential for improving the quality of life of individuals with disabilities. Prior research has indicated that parents’ values and practices are important in supporting the development of self-determination in their children.
The purpose of the study was to examine Saudi Arabian parents' values and perceptions regarding the importance, performance, and provision of self-determination opportunities to their high school male children with and without intellectual disability.
The participants were 133 parents of high school children (76 parents of a child without disabilities and 57 parents of a child with intellectual disabilities, accounting for 57.1% and 42.8%, respectively). Data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and independent samples t-tests were used to understand parents’ perceptions of and behaviors related to self-determination.
The results revealed no significant difference in the ratings of the importance of self-determination between the two groups of parents. Parents of children with intellectual disabilities rated their child’s self-determination performance lower and provided fewer opportunities to improve their children’s self-determination.
The results suggested that self-determination skills were valued in Saudi Arabia, highlighting that disability may affect the performance and opportunities to practice self-determination.

English has become a crucial language needs to be learned by all of the students in Indonesia. Its significances for both the education and career drive English to be a subject assessed in the ...National Exam. From the aforementioned issue, this study attempts to investigate three points such as parents’ perceptions and parents’ involvement of their children’s English Language learning (ELL), and their perceptions related to their involvement in their children’s ELL. Since this study was conducted to portray the natural context and interpret the parents’ behavior, qualitative approach with basic qualitative is applied. Accordingly, interviews with both parents and children were also conducted to gain the data. The finding shows that 7 out of 11 parents have positive perception about their children’s ELL, whilst the rest have negative perceptions. Moreover, it was found that there are three categories of parents’ involvements, including learning at home, decision-making, and collaborating with community. From those two mentioned points concerning the parents’ perceptions and involvements, it can be seen that the parents’ involvement is strongly influenced by the perceptions which they possessed. The more positive the parents' attitude towards English, the more participation they administer to support their children’s ELL.
Parents are an important part of any educational progress, and they are recognised as of key importance in children’s learning. In addition, fruitful parents’ participation in children’s education ...has been reported to facilitate the development of learners’ values, positive attitudes, and behaviour in which their emotional balance and maturity have also been reported to be supported and boosted. With this study, we sought to investigate narratives of parents’ participation in their children’s education at a secondary school in the Amathole West district of the Eastern Cape province, South Africa. The study was underpinned by Epstein’s theory of parental involvement and the ecological framework. A qualitative approach was adopted in this study, with a sample of 8 participants (parents), and data were collected through interviews. The findings reveal that parents who were fully involved in their children’s education could track and monitor their children’s progress at school and such parents quickly knew about any problems and talked to their children’s teacher about it. Consequently, we recommend that parents must be more actively involved in their children’s education by collaborating with their children’s teachers to bring out the best in their children.
Indonesia was ranked 72nd out of 77 countries in reading assessment based on Programme for International Students Assessment (PISA). Through the National Literacy Movement, the Indonesian government ...attempt to increase children's reading proficiency, which is also an indicator of SDG 4.1.1. This study explores the important roles of the parents and community in improving children's literacy competencies. This study used a qualitative approach and collected both primary and secondary data. The findings highlighted that parents supporting children's literacy could improve children's reading interest and early-phase of reading competencies through the availability of reading corners and home-based literacy activities. There were 300 parents supporting children's literacy activities and 73 community facilitators facilitating 20 village reading clubs. The village government also supported the sustainability of the reading club by providing incentives for the facilitators and developing the infrastructure through village fund allocation.
This study investigated the relations between parents and various school staff involvement, and student attendance across time from the viewpoint of school staff in Japan. In addition, student ...attendance characteristics were classified to investigate potential differences among students related to time and involvement of parents and staff. The research participants were Japanese elementary, junior, and senior high school staff (N = 206) who consented to participate in the survey. All participants were sampled from various areas of Japan and recruited through a web-based survey. Data were collected by the polling organization Internet Research Service MELLINKS (Tokyo, Japan), through their web panel (see www.mellinks.co.jp). The results indicated that during the early period of support, there was no positive correlation between class teachers’ involvement and students’ attendance. However, during the late period of support, it had a positive correlation. Surprisingly, the school nurses’ involvement was critical even in the early periods. Furthermore, in the late period, the results of ANOVAs assessing difference among the student attendance categories showed that maintaining and recovery types had higher scores of parents’ and class teachers’ involvement than non-maintaining and declining types. This study suggests that flexibility of collaboration among parents and various school staff across time is an important component to support student attendance.

Perinatal deaths are devastating for families and staff involved. Failure to examine perinatal deaths for substandard care prevents learning and may lead to recurrence of events, as well as prolonged morbidity in bereaved families and hospital staff. Perinatal mortality reviews can identify factors contributing to suboptimal care. An integrative literature review was carried out to study the different types of perinatal mortality reviews currently being done internationally, establishing a comparison and examining promising new developments.
We start by outlining issues with the classification of perinatal deaths and the different types of perinatal mortality reviews carried out in high-income countries. We reflect on the challenges that are encountered in the current processes and we then comment on how these may be overcome.
Current literature shows that differences in classifications of perinatal deaths continue to impede important international comparisons. National perinatal mortality audits can provide reliable high-quality data to facilitate national and international benchmarking. Confidential enquiries give expert assessment on anonymised information to initiate system-wide improvements, but to provide local information on perinatal deaths unit-based multi-disciplinary team reviews are required. Additionally, there is a need to shift from a blame-culture to a focus on achieving best practice by learning from mistakes. Review tools and processes have been implemented in some countries to standardize perinatal mortality reviews, but there is still more work to be done. Involving the bereaved parents in the perinatal mortality review process is important and ways to achieve this are progressing.
A structured approach to the perinatal mortality review process should be developed to facilitate sharing of experiences and challenges at national (or international) level. To achieve a reduction in the number of stillbirths and neonatal deaths, it is crucial to ensure that the perinatal mortality audit and review cycle is completed with implementation and re-evaluation of recommended changes in maternity services.
