Plastic surgeons and aesthetic medicine professionals often share "before" and "after" clinical cases on social media, but this practice can lead to unintended consequences, such as dysmorphophobia ...and unrealistic expectations. These before-and-after images, frequently posted on social media, tend to promote unreachable, sometimes retouched, beauty standards, downplaying the complexities of the surgical process, omitting details about postoperative care, recovery, and potential complications. This can create the illusion that perfection is easily attainable through surgery, fostering unrealistic ideals and negatively impacting viewers' self-image and self-worth. Dysmorphophobia, characterized by an excessive preoccupation with perceived flaws in one's appearance, is closely linked to social media usage, especially among Caucasian women. Plastic surgeons hold the responsibility to provide honest insights into cosmetic procedures on social media, emphasizing the healing process, potential risks, and limitations. Celebrating diversity in appearance and sharing genuine patient stories can combat idealized beauty standards and reduce the stigma surrounding cosmetic surgery. They must prioritize honesty, provide comprehensive context for their images, and promote a broader view of beauty that includes mental health and individual diversity. Their ethical responsibility extends beyond the operating room and should guide all aspects of their professional practice.Level of Evidence V This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. In order to reduce the incidence and mortality of colorectal cancer, improving the quality of colonoscopy is the top priority. At present, the adenoma detection rate is the most used index to ...evaluate the quality of colonoscopy. So, we further verified the relevant factors influencing the quality of colonoscopy and found out the novel quality indicators by studying the relationship between the influencing factors and the adenoma detection rate.
The study included 3824 cases of colonoscopy from January to December 2020. We retrospectively recorded the age and sex of the subjects; the number, size, and histological features of lesions; withdrawal time and the number of images acquired during colonoscopy. We analyzed the associated factors affecting adenoma and polyp detection, and verified their effectiveness with both univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses.
Logistic regression analyses showed that gender, age, withdrawal time and the number of images acquired during colonoscopy could serve as independent predictors of adenoma/polyp detection rate. In addition, adenoma detection rate (25.36% vs. 14.29%) and polyp detection rate (53.99% vs. 34.42%) showed a marked increase when the number of images taken during colonoscopy was ≥29 (
<0.001).
Gender, age, withdrawal time and the number of images acquired during colonoscopy are influencing factors for the detection of colorectal adenomas and polyps. And we can gain higher adenoma/polyp detection rate when endoscopists capture more colonoscopic images.
Although esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) is the most commonly used procedure in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, the method of esophageal, gastric and duodenal mucosa photodocumentation varies ...considerably worldwide. One probable explanation is that for generations, EGD has primarily been taught by GI faculty and instructors based on their perceptions and experience, which has resulted in EGD being a non‐standardized procedure. Currently, the procedure is facing a challenging scenario as endoscopy societies are implementing procedure‐associated quality indicators aiming for best practice among practitioners and evidence‐based care for patients. Contrary to colonoscopy where cecum landmarks photodocumentation is considered proof of completeness, there are currently no reliable performance measures to gauge the completeness of an upper endoscopy nor guidance for complete photodocumentation. This World Endoscopy Organization (WEO) position statement aims to provide practical guidance to practitioners to carry out complete EGD photodocumentation. Hence, an international group of experts from the WEO Upper GI Cancer Committee formulated the following document using the body of evidence established through literature reviews, expert opinions, and other scientific sources. The group acknowledged that although the procedure should be feasible in any facility, what is needed to achieve a global shift on the concept of completeness is a common written statement of agreement on its potential impact and added value. This best practice statement offers endoscopists principles and practical guidance in order to carry out complete photodocumentation from the hypopharynx to the second duodenal portion.

Remediation of disfiguring scratches and abrasions on aging plastics challenges even the most experienced conservator. This study assesses the effect of three NOVUS polishing products on remediation ...of poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). Samples were prepared to mimic the depth and type of scratches observed during conservation treatment performed on vacuum-formed reliefs from the 1960s. The study compares samples of new/unaged PMMA to naturally aged PMMA samples. Two different methods were successfully used to assess the polishing efficacy, which is notoriously challenging to document in transparent and reflective media: (1) image segmentation analysis of photographs to yield scratched area fractions, using three approaches (Li-thresholding, random forest, and convolution neural network); and (2) optical profilometry measurements, which provide surface root-mean-square roughness (R
RMS
) values. Both methods support the qualitative observations that polishing with the abrasive NOVUS products significantly reduced the surface damage; scratch area fractions decreased from 50-60% to 1-5% across the aged PMMA types after treatment, corresponding to an ∼85% decrease in surface roughness. Critically, the two methods are complementary: the image segmentation results demonstrated a greater visible difference between two degrees of polishing treatments on the new material, while profilometry results were able to parse differences in the degree of scratch reduction between the aged and new materials.

Objectives
The European and American colonoscopy guidelines recommend mandatory photodocumentation of caecal intubation to allow retrospective analysis and improve outcomes. We aim to demonstrate ...whether photodocumentation of caecal intubation improves colonoscopy outcomes.
Methods
We extracted images and procedural data from 317 consecutive colonoscopies. Images were anonymised and reviewed by four expert reviewers who scored their certainty that caecal intubation was achieved. Statistical analysis correlated adequately and inadequately photodocumented cases with polyp detection rate (PDR) and adenoma detection rate (ADR).
Results
The patients’ mean age was 59.4 years and 52% were male. Eighty-one percent were performed by consultant endoscopists and 19% by specialist registrar. Sixty-five percent of these procedures were performed by gastroenterologists and 35% by surgical endoscopists. Fifty-three percent were deemed to have adequately demonstrated photographic evidence of caecal intubation. Statistical analysis comparing adequately and inadequately photodocumented cases: the PDR of procedures with confirmed caecal intubation was greater than procedures without photographic evidence (40% vs 34%). Similarly, the ADR of photographically confirmed cases was greater than that of inadequately photodocumented cases (25% vs 18%). The number of images taken per procedure positively correlated with photographic documentation of caecal intubation.
Conclusion
While failing to reach statistical significance, there was a nominal difference in ADR and PDR demonstrated between the two groups, and with predominantly positive confidence intervals, this might suggest that a larger sample size could result in significance in favour of photodocumentation of caecal intubation. Future studies would be warranted. However, endoscopists that take more images were more likely to have proven caecal intubation.
Photodocumentation is a subset of visible light imaging and is an important growing segment of enterprise imaging. Medical videography is another subset of visible light imaging that shares many of ...the challenges of photodocumentation. Medical photographs are used to document clinical conditions, support diagnosis, guide, and document procedures and to enable collaboration among colleagues. They also play a significant role in patient engagement and are a mechanism for patients to share information with their provider without the need for a clinical office visit. The content of medical photographs raises issues for acquisition, management, storage, and access. Medical photographs may contain protected health information, and these images benefit from the standardized, secure processes inherent in any enterprise imaging program. The ability to securely acquire images on mobile, and sometimes personally owned devices, is a necessity. In addition to containing protected health information, photograph content can be sensitive or gruesome or the images may be used for forensic purposes. These types of images require additional protections. Access to these images should be role-based and auditable. To properly identify photographs and to convey information about their acquisition parameters new metadata requirements and mechanisms for its association with the imaging files are evolving. Institutional policies need to be developed to define the organization’s requirements for medical photography, including consent processes. Existing policies such as those defining the designated record set and legal health record should address the management of medical photography.

Photodocumentation is an invaluable tool in many specialties, including dermatology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and wound management. As digital cameras and camera-enabled smartphones ...have become omnipresent in our society, they have brought photodocumentation to all corners of healthcare organizations including the emergency department as well as family medicine and pediatrics. Simultaneously, enterprise imaging programs have evolved enabling access to all medical images for all providers throughout these organizations. Through their unique perspective, enterprise imaging teams have an opportunity to guide development of high quality, ethical programs that are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements. Clinical and technical standards for photodocumentation are not fully evolved and thus establishing an enterprise photodocumentation program will require communication and education. Development of such a program requires an understanding of the clinical, ethical, and technical issues around photodocumentation. This article explores how photodocumentation is utilized, the patient’s experience, current quality concerns, tools and technical issues around image acquisition, and the topics of informed consent, privacy, security, and lifecycle and health information management.
