Vodonosnik ob Mislinji zaradi majhne izdatnosti in dejstva, da se ne uporablja za vodooskrbo, ni vključen v redni državni monitoring kakovosti podzemnih voda. V članku na primeru devetih vzorčnih ...mest (zasebnih vodnjakov in vrtin) analiziramo vrednosti osnovnih fizikalno-kemijskih parametrov vode, na podlagi katerih preliminarno ocenjujemo njeno kakovost. Ugotavljamo, da se v podtalnici odražajo antropogeni vplivi, ki so izrazitejši v bližini območij strnjene kmetijske obdelave ter ob večjih naseljih. Pri večini vzorcev so prisotne povišane vrednosti nitratov in kloridov, pri nekaterih pa se v višjih koncentracijah pojavljajo tudi druga merjena onesnažila. Glede na aktualni Pravilnik o pitni vodi je kar pet od devetih vzorcev neustreznih, oziroma zgolj pogojno ustreznih, kar pomeni, da je podtalnica v vodonosniku ob Mislinji morda že preveč onesnažena, da bi nanjo lahko računali kot na možni rezervni vodni vir za vodooskrbo.
Modela PELMO 3.3.2 in PEARL 3.3.3 sta uveljavljena modela za ocenjevanje izpiranja fitofarmacevtskih sredstev (FFS) in se uporabljata tudi za namen registracije FFS v državah članicah EU. Medsebojno ...smo primerjali rezultate obeh modelov in sicer ocene izpiranja izbranih herbicidov (Lumax, Primextra Gold 720 SC in Primextra 500 tekoči) za standardne t. im. scenarije FOCUS, kot tudi za specifične okoljske scenarije, ki so značilni za Apaško dolino. Uporabili smo dolgoletne dnevne podatke z meteorološke postaje Murska Sobota in pedološke podatke treh izbranih profilov na območju Apaške doline: obrečnih tal, hipogleja in psevdogleja. Ugotovili smo, da so pri standardnih scenarijih FOCUS ocene izpiranja izbranih FFS v modelu PEARL v splošnem večje kot pa v modelu PELMO, v specifičnih (realnih) scenarijih iz Apaške doline za obdobje 1984-2009 pa se je ta ugotovitev potrdila le v izbranih (najobčutljivejših) plitvih obrečnih tleh, medtem ko so v drugih dveh talnih profilih nekoliko višje ocene izpiranja izbranih herbicidov pokazali rezultati PELMO modela.

A good knowledge of the natural and cultural heritage of karst is a precondition for the rational planning of life on it. We try to organize the knowledge to make it as useful as possible for ...planners. We are involved in individual projects related to the regional planning, water supply systems, the construction of transportation infrastructure, the closure of landfills in karst areas, the collection of data on karst caves and their protection, karst ecology and determining the extent of human influence on the karst underground. A new book series Karstology and development challenges on karst was designed to present the results of completed and new projects to a broader public.The first book with the subtitle Water contains selected directly applicable research studies on karst waters, their characteristics, endangerment, and protection. It is composed of ten chapters, which can be grouped into three main themes. In the introduction the importance, characteristics and vulnerability of karst aquifers are presented,then various case studies of pollution and endangerment are described (traffic, landfills, military objects, flooding), and at the end some guidelines for the protection of karst water sources are summarized. The book is a bilingual publication in Slovene and English. It is aimed at a broad circle of users, researchers, students and planners.
The second book in the new collection Karstology in Development Challenges in the Karst brings together the findings obtained in planning and construction of motorways in the Karst. More than 350 new ...caves were opened up in the final wave of construction. This was followed by studies on arranging karstic features for tourism and their management. We also selected studies on karstic ecology, in which we made use of biological and microbiological research. At the end there is a summary of everything we need to take into account in planning different encroachments in karstic areas.
The extensive groundwater reserves in the Ljubljana Plain, estimated at 100 million m3, represent a natural resource of regional significance. The Decree on the Protection of Sources of Drinking ...Water divides this water protection area into three drinking-water protection zones. The area is exposed to possible pollution by many activities, among which agriculture is especially problematic because it is not supervised strictly enough. The majority of farms are engaged in traditional animal husbandry, of which cattle breeding dominates.
Garden-plot areas spontaneously developed and were distributed across the entire flat area of Ljubljana. Due to a new, more urban lifestyle and a policy change by the city authorities, the area of ...garden plots fell considerably at the end of the twentieth and the beginning of the twenty-first centuries. The most recent analysis of plot gardening in the City of Ljubljana, which surveyed 302 plot gardeners, showed that the overall infrastructure available in garden-plot areas is relatively poor. This activity is mainly practiced by older and lower-income people, most of whom live in apartment buildings. Due to pesticide residues and heavy metals in the soil and produce, as well as groundwater contamination, plot gardening poses a threat to public health and the environment. The 2008 Draft Ljubljana Zoning Implementation Plan foresees a reduction in the total area of plot-gardening areas by nearly half~however, even the planned community garden plots include some that do not meet the minimum location standards. Some garden-plot areas are problematic primarily because they are located close to major traffic routes. In the future, plot gardeners will have to be more systematically informed and educated about proper and safe use of fertilizers and pesticides.
The book includes water protection areas near the pumping stations of drinkable water on Ljubljansko polje, consequently in the City municipality of Ljubljana and in the water protection area of the ...water plant Brest in the neighbouring municipality of Ig. The area of Ljubljansko barje was also included in the study.Water wells have, besides the basic function of preserving water, also an aesthetic and symbolic meaning. Many fountains in public and private use are true works of art, but that wasn't the main interest of our study. We concentrated mostly on private water wells and bores, which are not registered and therefore not supervised.
Ljubljansko polje is a juncture of numerous human activities. The source of drinking water for about 300,000 residents, it holds one of the most important bodies of groundwater in the country. ...Unfortunately, the influences of urbanization, agriculture and industry that threaten and burden it are reflected in the quality and quantity of the groundwater.
