The volume Historični seminar 13 ('Historical Seminar 13') offers a selection of articles that have been “filtered” through the cycle of lectures over the past two years. These articles were written ...by ten researchers from Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, and Germany. Historični seminar 13 continues to examine its origin in the humanities by looking at history and describing the past, with perspectives that are also directed toward other disciplines: geography, comparative literature, ethnomusicology, and cultural anthropology. However, it always maintains a critical distance, which is emphasized in various ways because many of the articles question previous assumptions of past studies and their subjective points of departure. In this manner, this volume makes an important contribution to critical thought about scholarship in general and about the future tasks of the humanities and the social sciences. At the same time, it adds an increasingly current ethical touch to much of its material. Historični seminar 13 is freely available online.
On the anniversary of the Sarajevo assassination (28 June 1914), the booklet of Dr. Ivan Avguštin Žibert, Der Mord von Sarajevo und Tiszas Schuld an dem Weltkriege, provides a good motivation for ...reflection on the causes of this fateful event. Appearing as a facsimile is its third edition, which was self-published in 1919. Although comprising not more than forty-seven pages, it touches on many events and personages connected to the heir apparent Franz Ferdinand. In the introduction to the facsimile of Žibert’s booklet, Prof. Andrej Rahten, PhD, wrote the study “Ozadja in okoliščine nastanka Žibertove teorije zarote” “The backgrounds and circumstances of Žibert’s conspiracy theory”, offering a clear view of the problem concerning the events that unfolded in Sarajevo. Rahten provides a detailed insight into the life of the heir apparent Franz Ferdinand and his morganatic wife Sophie von Hohenberg on the eve of the First World War.
Članek predstavlja politične komentarje v korespondenci med Žigo Zoisom in Jernejem Kopitarjem v letih 1808-1818, ki so obravnavali: Napoleonov vojni pohod v Avstrijo leta 1809, schönbrunnski mir, ...dogodke v Ilirskih provincah, položaj slovenščine v Ilirskih provincah, Napoleonovo poroko in vprašanje vrnitve Ilirskih provinc Avstriji, Napoleonov vojni pohod v Rusijo, Napoleonov vojni pohod v Nemčijo, vrnitev Ilirskih provinc Avstriji in vprašanje njihove ureditve, Dunajski kongres in Napoleonovih sto dni ter ustanavljanje Ilirskega kraljestva. Pregled teh pasusov vodi tako k razlagi Zoisovih in Kopitarjevih političnih razlogov kakor k pojasnitvi njunega dejavnega vključevanja v politko, zlasti pri vzpostavitvi Ilirskega kraljestva v letih 1814-1817.
