schedules, which over time can lead to persistent fatigue, psychological distress, performance decrements, and injury. A similar process has been observed as a consequence of high-intensity training in many different sports, and considerable sport-related research has been devoted to identifying
the antecedents, the symptoms that are experienced, and the most cost-effective ways of monitoring symptom development. This paper presents a general heuristic framework for understanding this "training distress process" and discusses the framework with specific reference to dance.
The survey has been done on sample of 1252 people. The target was to estimate damage of noise on professional rehabilitation of deaf population, which is mostly directed to professions in heavy ...industry, for professions in metal industry. Sample has been divided to 3 sub samples: 137 hearing people in metal industry; 106 hearing impaired adults with different professions and control group of 1000 hearing people. The results of survey point that work conditions contribute to hearing damage at employers in metal industry by comparison with hearing impairment of usual population. By comparative analysis of registered hearing impairments concerning age, statistically important difference in frequency of hearing impairment of two sub samples (t= 3.27, sing=.05). The relation between hearing impairment and years of working has been identify ed at employers in heavy industry, (r=.37).
Purpose
To explore how burnout rehabilitation clients experienced their recovery from burnout and what they found beneficial in rehabilitation.
Subjects
Twelve clients whose burnout levels had ...declined during rehabilitation were interviewed at the end of the second period of the rehabilitation course.
Methods
Semi-structured interviews comprised the main material of the study and were analysed by content analysis. In addition, the Bergen Burnout Indicator (BBI-15) was used to measure the reduction in burnout levels.

Conclusions
The rehabilitation course proved particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from burnout. The accumulation of support, awareness and approval led to a revival of joy in life and greater perceived control over one’s well-being.

Muitas são as dificuldades dos trabalhadores acometidos por doenças ocupacionais para retornar ao trabalho. Esta pesquisa-intervenção teve como objetivo conhecer e se aproximar das experiências do ...retorno ao trabalho e as implicações na produção de subjetividade em trabalhadores da área hospitalar. Ela foi realizada com grupos de trabalhadores reabilitados de um hospital universitário geral de grande porte, em Porto Alegre, RS. Os encontros (n=8) foram compostos por trabalhadores (n=20) de diversas funções e áreas de trabalho no hospital, que tenham participado de programa de reabilitação profissional e estejam desenvolvendo suas atividades em sua área de origem, ou em novo posto de trabalho. Os resultados apontam para as dificuldades, limitações e para a problematização dos modelos de gestão no trabalho vigentes. Por outro lado, também apontam para a criação de novos modos de trabalhar e viver e para a construção coletiva de estratégias de inventividade.

23 white-collar workers on long-term sick leave (>3 months) due to a burnout related diagnosis and 16 healthy controls were subjected to polysomnographic recordings at baseline and after 6–12 months’ rehabilitation. Occupational status, subjective sleep quality, fatigue, anxiety and depression were assessed. Recovery from burnout was accompanied by improved sleep continuity. Significant interaction effects were seen for number of arousals, sleep fragmentation, sleep latency, sleep efficiency and time of rising. The burnout group improved significantly on all symptom variables although the post-treatment levels did not reach the levels of the controls. Recovery from fatigue was related to a reduction of the arousal from sleep and was the best predictor of return to work.

Background. Stress-related ill health, e.g. burnout, is of great concern worldwide. Effective rehabilitation programs need to be developed and their therapeutic aspects understood. Purpose. To ...explore and describe how women with stress-related ill health who are on sick leave experience the rehabilitation process in a therapeutic garden and how these experiences connect to their everyday lives. Methods. This longitudinal study used methods from grounded theory. Five women completed three semi-structured interviews at three weekly intervals during rehabilitation and one interview three months after. Data were analyzed using a constant comparative approach. Findings. A secure environment facilitated engagement in activities that provided feelings of enjoyment. These experiences inspired participants to add enjoyable activities in their everyday lives, contributing to occupational balance, despite worries of not be able to continue performing enjoyable activities. Implications. Effective rehabilitation programs need to focus on enjoyable activities in a protective environment to support achievement of occupational balance.

Mental health problems (MHPs) such as stress and depression are among the leading causes of work disability. In this article we explore how women with MHPs experience sickness absence and subsequent ...return to work. We conducted 16 semistructured interviews and employed constructivist grounded theory for the analysis. We found that whereas sickness absence constituted a major threat to positive self-images, the experience had potential as a personal growth experience: Although some women felt handicapped, others became stronger and more self-confident. The core of the experience was not the return to work but a process of healing a vulnerable self—the ability both to refocus attention from symptoms to other life goals and to maintain or reconstruct a positive self-image. Supportive health care and acknowledgment from others facilitated the healing process.

Creating a significant negative impact on both their quality of life and the quality of patient care with an evident economical burden for the healthcare system, there is a growing concern over ...physician burnout. The range of interventions and treatments that have been used to address this problem, however, appear quite fragmented and lack compelling efficacy. We describe the main factors known to contribute to the development of physician burnout as well as currently available treatments. Studies seem to indicate that both specialisation area as well as personality traits may contribute to the manifestation. The highest risk specialties appear to be critical care physicians, emergency physicians, oncologists and internal medicine physicians, while the highest risk personality attributes are high neuroticism, low agreeableness, introversion, and negative affectivity. In addition, being exceedingly enthusiastic about one's work and having high aspirations at work, with an idealistic approach, also serve as factors which contribute to increased risk of burnout, and in particular for those who are new to the occupation.
Abstract
Purpose: The aim was to describe and understand how connecting rehabilitation experiences and everyday life was characterised in the lived experiences during the rehabilitation in women with ...stress-related ill health. Method: Five women were interviewed on three occasions during a rehabilitation programme and once 3 months later. Data were analysed using the Empirical, Phenomenological and Psychological method. Results: The participants experienced connections between their rehabilitation and their previous, present and future everyday life influencing both rehabilitation and everyday life in a back-and-forth process. These connections were experienced in mind or in doing, mostly targeting the private arena in everyday life. Connecting rehabilitation experiences to their working situations was more challenging and feelings of frustration and being left alone were experienced. Conclusions: Although the participants described constructive connections between rehabilitation experiences and the private arena in everyday life, they mostly failed to experience connections that facilitated a positive return to work. Recommended support in the return to work process in rehabilitation comprises the provision of practical work-related activities during rehabilitation; being supportive in a constructive dialogue between the participant and the workplace, and continuing this support in follow-ups after the actual rehabilitation period.Implications for RehabilitationRehabilitation for persons with stress-related ill health needs to focus on the private arena as well as the work situation in everyday life.Creative activities may enable experiences that inspire connections in mind and connections targeting the private arena in everyday life.The work situation needs to be thoroughly discussed during rehabilitation for enabling the participants to experience a support in the return to work process.Rehabilitation including practical work-related activities, support in a constructive dialogue between the participant and the manager at the workplace, and continued support in follow-ups targeting the workplace might be beneficial for successfully return to work.
